  1. No I was just saying he is being overlooked due to playing for a small 1-A school. He does not play for a contender for a state title. Henry will get all the votes due to playing for a contender and being as good as he is. In my opinion Wilkes is the better back but Henry has the better team. Not taking anything away from Union City. I did not mean to sound like I was disrespecting anyone.
  2. Lake County was 0-6 vs Humboldt. LC is not a bad team and should have beat West Carroll. LC could win a couple of games in the playoff's if they get in.
  3. Against a good team Union City he rushed for 111 yards on only 8 carries. He rushed for 303 against McKenzie. So he does gets yards against good teams. He plays for a small true 1-A team unlike some certain running backs in the area. Take that how you want to.
  4. I have seen Fulton Co. Gibson Co wins as bad as they want this week.
  5. I have watched a lot of high school football from all over the state for many years. There is only one team in 1-A that UC will not mercy rule and that's NCS and I'm not sure about that. This season UC is on a different level than everyone else in 1-a. No 1-A team in the east, middle or west will play within 35 of them. If I'm wrong then I will be the first to admit my wrong. Not many 2-A teams in the state can play with them this year. That's just the cold hard facts. Now, I must go wash my mouth out with soap for saying this.
  6. No, it will not be by my team that's for sure. What I meant was that I didn't see all the speed that I expected to see. Team speed that is. I also expected to see a team that was real physical, didn't see it. From what I took away from the game is a physical team plays Peabody then that will spell disaster. Union City is very physical and has a whole lot more team speed than Peabody. Peabody has a good team but was not what I expected. Meant no disrespect at all.
  7. That's the exact same thing we are saying at Lake Co. Great win for Gibson Co last night.
  8. Peabody has a good team. Not everything I heard they were cracked up to be but a good team. Peabody will find out in a few weeks what it is like to be on the other side of a score like this. On a side note Peabody is the only team in the history of football to never commit a penalty.lol. Good luck to Peabody the rest of the year.
  9. The biggest concern here is not size of school(242) its the number of kids playing football.
  10. Trader, I agree with everything you just said.
  11. It just seems the TSSAA takes care of the larger schools and dumps on the smaller ones and I guess somebody has to be dumped on. It just seems the powers that be could look at this and straighten it out but when you have inmates running the asylum that's what you get. For the record I love playing Union City because when LC beats them or plays close then I know we can compete with and single A team. This is not about UC, its about the killing of small town football.
  12. If LC had 351 then LC would be 2-A .It's that simple. Do I like it no but at least it's clear cut.
  13. Indian, I think you are old school like me. I can remember traveling 2 plus hours to games. Yes, it's a strain but at the most it only happens 5 times a year. If a team is lucky then a couple of more times if they make playoff's. The TSSAA does not worry about travel during the playoff's. Heck they have teams in the privates traveling from East Tn to West Tn for regular season games now.
  14. This is true. I am old school and remember the days when a school had over 350 they were 2-a no questions ask. Then it was about the enrollment number not equal number of teams in each class.
  15. I understand your reasoning. The TSSAA is suppose to be about the student athlete. So what if fewer teams are in 1-A . It would still all work out the same. If you only take 24 to playoff's in 1-a and 32 in the rest of the classes then the TSSAA still comes out 8 games ahead. They currently only take 24 in 1-a and 2-a. What it boils down too is money. Ask schools that currently fall in the 362 to 400 range if they would rather play in 1-a or 2-a. They do not get that choice but some with enrollments over 400 do.
  16. gcapride, Union City would win 2-A also.
  17. That's the whole problem with the system. Enrollment cut off mattered. Now it's about having an equal amount of schools in each class. The numbers should matter. 350 for class A, 351 to 725 for 2A and etc for the rest. The TSSAA is killing small town football. Heck I would rather bring back USJ, FACS and JCS and tell them no recruiting. The current system is going to kill small town football. In ten years teams with enrollments under 200 will not fill football teams. Why would they. They have no chance to compete in their own class now. Again I don't want UC fans to think that I am picking on them. I only used them as an example because I know their number of students.
  18. I have a question about enrollments? Hopefully someone with a whole lot more knowledge than me can answer. Union City is going to turn in an enrollment of 403 students maybe a few more. The cut off for single A was 361 two years ago. That was Union City. Now 403 squarely puts them in 2-A in the playoff's. While schools such as Trousdale Co has around 380 and has to play 2-A in the playoff's. I do not understand the TSSAA logic behind this. It's not fair to schools such as Gleason and Greenfield with less than 150 students. This is no slight toward Union City, they can only play were the TSSAA puts them but what is fair with their system? It's suppose to be about the schools not money. The TSSAA is apparently about the money. Now next year they are going to have a super 32 teams in class 6-A. Have regions for 1 through 5. All 32 teams in the 6-a class are going to make the playoff's while the others will only have the top 4 out of each region make it. That's a joke. Class A teams should not have enrollments over 350 students period. If only 24 schools make it out of 1-A so be it. It should not be based off of an equal number of schools in each class but be based off enrollments like it used to be. So, someone please explain this to me. Again, this is not a slight at all against Union City they can only play were the TSSAA puts them. The whole system needs to be overhauled.
  19. No they call them districts now. Quads in the playoff's. The old system we were all region 7.
  20. I am hoping the falcons come over to Trenton and make a game of it. LC numbers are small. LC has usually played well at Trenton and hopefully they will this year. Anyway, I just hope for an injury free game.
  21. I am certainly not a uc fan by no stretch. Thats like calling you a westview fan. Dresden is not in 14a by the way.
