It was Austin Douglas vs. Maplewood. He had somewhere in the neighborhood of 35 or 40. He was the only kid that didn't look rattled, or nervous. He was the only cub player that believed and it showed in the body language, mouthing to the refs, rushing shots or not shooting at all. Lazy passes etc.
A lot of that had to do with Maplewoods full court pressure. They were relentless on defense. The biggest difference in the game though was rebounding ,Maplewood owned the glass. Guaranteed they had 14 points on offensive rebounding and that was the difference.
In the Mr. Basketball matchup, Douglas had a better individual game but Hodges is the real deal and tonight he just plain had a better, more intense team.
10aa is just more competitive than 9aa and it gets them ready for games like this. Anyways congrats to the "wood" on the victory and Austin Douglas should walk the halls proud he gave it his all.
