  1. At least you got to play in the postseason the last two years. Now a 2 year ban, that is the definition of the punishment not fitting the crime.
  2. Don't know if you can coach effort, but you don't put kids on the floor who aren't giving it. Period. The Bench is the best teacher!
  3. They can sure light it up! Looks like they will be a tough out next year as well. Think replacing the older Crosland will be tough. He's a heck of a basketball player and leader.
  4. I grew up and played in Indiana, the greatest state for high school basketball in the country. WC is the best shooting team I have seen in HS basketball. That being said WC has been extremely fortunate in at least 3 games to pull out wins.... Which is a true credit to them. I hope they win the state, but sooner or later you live by the 3, you die by the 3. IF they lose, I am afraid it will be by a large margin. Been watching basketball for 40+ years and sooner or later if those three balls aren't falling it usually leads to a loss by a significant amount . That being said, I would like to see an Upper Cumberland team win the state in any classification. Good luck to the Warriors! How many seniors does WC have that play significant minutes?
  5. Haven't heard all of the Shepperson talk until very recently. Kid is good but if he had to deal with what Blevins does game in, game out he wouldn't score 8 a game. That being said York has completely fallen apart. I know some people blame coaching. My opinion, you have 5 seniors and 2 juniors with considerable experience. Sometimes the kids don't hold up their end... And before anybody comments, mine is one of those 7. No reason why this group shouldn't be at worst 2nd or 3rd in the district.... AT WORST. Defensively,, only 2 or 3 of them seem to care if anybody scores on them. No excuses, this team has severely underperformed.
  6. I don't think our perimeter players are mediocre at all, but there have been numerous posts that state all York has is Blevins and everybody else is average. If Upperman has all these shooters, a 6-8 post and didn't need Guffey to have a great game to win, and Shepperson has Huff and King who can carry Smith when they need to regardless what Shepperson does, then how honestly can either be MVP if they both can have off or so-so games and their teams be successful. Far as that goes an argument could be made that Martin at Cannon is more valuable to his team than either Guffey or Shepperson is to theirs. As far as doubling the post goes, nobody does it if they don't have to.
  7. So because he is 6-8 he shouldn't be MVP? Honestly thought Eldridge should have won it last year, this year it's a no brainer for Blevins in my opinion. Leads the district in scoring and probably rebounding even with all the attention he gets defensively. Probably in top 2, if not leading in blocked shots. Pretty easy decision really.
  8. Listen, Both Guffey and Shepperson are very good players. VictoryFormation talked about Guffey getting denied 25 ft from the basket. That is one player guarding him. Shepperson is very talented, especially for his size, but for the most part is played straight up. Blevins faces at least a double team EVERY time he touches the ball. I am not trying to diminish either player, but Guffey had two respectable games, but neither were eye opening against York and they're so called "mediocre" perimeter players. Shepperson had one average game and one stellar game against York but was never doubled (maybe in hindsight we should have in the one last week!). Just feel like Blevins has much more resistance in every game to face than the other two do, and it's not even close imo. Hope King's injury isn't serious. He is a very good player.
  9. Upperman beat Smith by 35???. That can't be right. Did Shepperson play?
  10. I agree, COY should go to Smith or Magnet's coach. Both are very deserving. MVP should be exactly that, Most Valuable Player. Tell me who is more valuable than Blevins. If they threw every kid in the district in a draft for this season, every coach in the district would take Blevins first. No question. My question is who should be Defensive Player of the Year?
  11. He did against Livingston. Against Smith he had 2 threes very early. He is back to shooting it well and Lord knows we need it. He has played really solid this year.
  12. No where near 20 against Smith, not sure exactly what he had but somewhere between 8-12, certainly no more than 12 at the most.
  13. Yeah like I said 42 in the first game. Don't have to watch the film I was there. Blevins guarded King most of the time, Moody and York guarded Shepperson the majority of the time. King and Huff had over 20 each the first time, Shepperson may have had double figures but didn't do enough to merit any special attention. He had the big game yesterday because Huff and King were the focus. If Blevins doesn't get it my feelings won't be hurt at all. We will see, but don't get on here whining and crying if Blevins gets it. Coaches in this district know who they gameplan to stop or contain, and you are a complete fool if you think coaches are devoting as much or more time worrying how to shut down Shepperson more than they do Blevins.
  14. Really?. Guess you forgot about the 42 he put up in the first Smith game. Shepperson played great yesterday, but to say he dominated Blevins is laughable. Contrary to what you said, Blevins only guarded the kid about a 1/3 of the time. Huff and King hurt us in the first game so they were the focus defensively, Huff had 4 or 5, King had 10 yesterday. Shepperson took advantage of the defense not keying on him (like a good player should). Just like every game York plays Blevins faced double and triple teams every time he touched it.. You try to make it sound like they went mano y mano the entire game, that wasn't even remotely the case. Blevins is the mvp and it ought to be unanimous. No other player has to deal with defenses he that he does. If Shepperson or anybody in the district did they wouldn't score in double figures.
  15. This Dragon's team is very frustrating to watch. The inconsistency is hard to describe, and I am not talking about inconsistencies from game to game. Never seen a team that can look like the best team in the district by far for 2 quarters and the other 2 they would struggle to beat a poor Single A team. Some of you will laugh at this but I could honestly see us getting it together and still winning the Region and at the same time I could see us losing in the 1st Round of the district by 20. Jekyll and Hyde doesn't even begin to describe this team. Hope the kids can regroup and pull it together.
  16. Cannon kids showed up ready to play. Never took a backward step all night. Definitely deserved to win that game.
  17. Lost to Cannon 48-61. Defensively we can't stop a decent middle school team right now, not containing the ball off the dribble at all. Offensively we are struggling to knock down shots. Execution on both ends is lacking, for a team with 5 seniors there is no excuse for it. Still time to right the ship, but with the kids have to turn it around now. This bunch still has the talent to contend for the district tournament. Will we? I don't know, but those boys have no excuses, that's for certain.
  18. Final was actually WC 85, York 72. And it seemed like you all hit a heck of a kit more than 12 threes. I would've guessed 15+
  19. And who do you consider the Top 3?
  20. York plays sloppy and gets 71-58 win at Macon. Never trailed.
  21. Boot Camp MCRD San Diego, then 3rd Battalion 1st Marines, Camp Pendleton, CA.
