I think its because no one wants to talk about the elephant in the room. Picking a guy with 2 years of coaching experience to head up a team that just won a state championship. As I posted in the other thread, who else applied?

Yes they did. My concern is school is almost over there still is no coach. Coach Estes is doing baseball and Coach Killebrew is with softball. My concern is over kids being ready.

So with Spring Practice theoretically starting next week, will there be a coach named this week? There is not much time left in school.

Seems like a long time to make a hire. Are there any names out there?

As an outsider on the situation, my question to the UC haters are why would you not give your kids the best shot at winning a state championship? The TSSAA sets the number to be under. Union city is under that number. If it was someone else as the highest everyone would complain about them having so many kids and beating up "true 1-a" programs. All the teams in 1-a are true 1-a programs because that is where they are placed. Union city does have the chance to play up. But what is best for kids year in and year out. The last two years have been good for Union city but what about the next two years. If you beat them are you ok with them being in 1-A. There will always be people unhappy with te process and decisions of the TSSAA. So my final word is to win your games and you have nothing to complain about.

Did either of those guys apply last time? Why didnt they get it?

Ricky Henry from UC. 1000 yards rushing and 21 TDs. As really only played 5 games. Played whole game against Huntingdon and Dresden. All the others he was out cheering for the second half. He also has a kick return for a touchdown. Tristan Jernigan is a good option for lineman as well. However, the state likes bigger guys for this award and so Stewart and Givens will probably be fighting it out for this one but I hope Tristan is mentioned.

With Coach Hodge gone and Coach Rang being a defensive guy, who is going to be call our offense?

I agree with some of your post. But as a player, It was always the job of the players to make sure that their stuff was cleaned whether it be the weightroom or the locker room. Also there is a big difference in the work that goes into keeping any football building cleaned compared to that of a basketball locker room. As the recognition of former players in specific sports, Jonathon may have had something to do with the girls having that stuff up because he has coached some of them. The Hodges are fairly new to the school and could have done some research to find out who was a four sport athlete in any sport. Also are you Bruce's dad, because you only name him specifically. There have been others to play. I do like what Union City does with their college athletes. I just dont know where they would put them in Dresden's Gym. Also stats for girls basketball is very easy to determine and limited. Points and Rebounds. For football you can do touchdown (passes and rushing and receiving and total) tackles, tackle for loss, sacks, pancakes, interceptions, receptions. Because if you leave one out then someone will be mad.

That is the stem of everyone's frustration, just pick someone move on and let that coach get to work. Whoever it may be

Not my boy. I just did research on him. And made a statement of at some point every head coach starts with no experience. I am not advocating for the guy. Just stating facts.

Looked up Dubruiel. He played 4 years at Bethel coaches 4 years at dyer county and last year at union city

Look at who was in that district Milan, Westview, Huntingdon, Trenton, Humboldt, That was a stacked district to start off

I think that everyone is anxious to see who the next coach will be. I don't know who all has been interviewed but this is a month after the applications were do. Six weeks since Keith has announced that he took the Murray job. A month and half of no coach head coach in high school football is a long time. And it appears that there seems to be no end in sight for a decision. Everyone keeps saying tomorrow eventually someone will be right. Just when will it be the right tomorrow.

It was just an observation that could be made. If an NCAA football team goes from a National Championship to just playing in a Conference Championship game to playing in a lower level bowl in three consecutive years that football team is seen as taking a step back. The allusion can be made of Dresden. State Champions to losing in the semifinals to losing in the second round. The comparison is true. If Alabama loses national championship, then loses the SEC championship game the next year, then the following year they lose the Gildan New Mexico Bowl it is seen as a step back. I am not questioning at all about the classes having winning seasons with them having the best record by a class. I am just stating facts. I like what the Hodge brothers have done for the program at Dresden.

But under your qualifications they compete every year.

I am not trying to tarnish what Keith has done but in a what have you done for me lately world. He has produced. Has he ever won the district out right? Can he get find ways to win big games? Has he beat Huntingdon?
