  1. What did they know and when did they know it? I suspect that attempts to reach the TSSAA were made within minutes of the announcment of quad 1 of the 5A bracket. If that is the case BC should have said it seems that there is a problem with the 5A bracket and we will not publish it now.Lack of leadership. In the press release which has not made the sunday paper nor has it been placed on the TSSAA web page, there is no attempt to admit responsibility for the error. Instead we get, errors have been made in the past, not the staffer responsable has tendered his resignation (and I hope the board of control doesn't ask for mine)..
  2. JUST DO WHATS RIGHT. . . PERIOD (actually three of them)If you need to move all quad 1 & 2 games to Saturday afternoon to accomplish this do it. Correct your mistake. After three years of this system you should know how to do it quickly and accurately. I don't know how you arrive at the final standings but the fans out there seem to accomplish in a few hours after the final scores are in. The Enka record was discussed on this web site hours before your official announcment. Actually at the end of week nine the person responsible should have known that the enka record was 5-5 and that wasn't going to change. (get out the red highlighter and apply it to your notes). If you have a computer program that does all the work for you it failed to recognize that 5+6 is greater than 10. Shame on you T$$AA!
  3. What would happen in business and industry with this situation? Heads would roll and CEO's would go
  4. gerry Johnson Co, Pigeon Forge and Austin East all lost. . . Doesn't that move Alcoa to Quad 1? they would be the 1 seed and EHS #2
  5. Right I miscounted. . . . don't forget Austin-East as a 4-6 team
  6. Gerry, Am I correct that there 28 teams with 4 wins or more and 4 three wins + six 2 win teams that can reach 3 wins? therefore all teams with 4 or 5 wins are in.
  7. Gerry, in quad 1 Sullivan North(8-1 2nd Dist 1) should be a 2 and Cumberland Gap a 3
  8. 5-5 will get you in for the 4-6 teams the tiebreaker will decide my best guess/hope is West Green will squeek through.
  9. I e-mailed TSSAA last week and asked if they have any information. They replied that they had no knowledge of total points scored by a female in football. The only information they had was on the first female score. I guess we should report her point total at the end of the year and claim it as the record. See the article in SI http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/scorecard/faces/2012/09/24/index.html
  10. You said "Posted A day ago Time for Unicoi County among others to try to draw some of the North Carolina talent over the mountain" I don't know the street addresses of all the students who attend TAD but I would expect that they will continue to attend ECS at the secondary level. It is possible that one are more may be living in the county, zoned for Happy Valley, and eligable to attend Science Hill as they reside inside the JC city limits. This has all been discussed before in this forum. Get a life, parents send their students to schools of their choice. If Unicoi Co can draw students over the mountain more power to you.

  14. Thanks for the list of the boro's finest. I have never been known to let a great place to eat go un-visited. I don't think the Lady Cyclones will need it however they are on a mission. They left three years ago, after the Westwood defeat, with a bad taste in theri mouths. They have been on that mission for two years. The match up with Cannon Co. appears to be like a reflection. Strong defense, great 3-pt shooters and determination. You always look for common opponents and there are none the only thing in common is Betsy played CPA in the Riverdale scrimmage and won 44-26 and Cannon Co. played CPA a week later and lost 44-46 ( regular season vs scrimmage?). Coacht rankings would indicate they have played about the same difficulty of schedule. The only thing I have found is record vs 20 game winners. Cannon Co. has played 14 teams with 20 wins and have won 7 and lost 7. Elizabethton has played 13 and have won them all. This should we a great game. I look forward to being in the boro long enough to sample some great food.
  15. Sparky - I was listening to this game on internet radio from Greeneville. Aparently you weren't the only one who thought there was a lot of walking. The announcer (Greeneville) commented several times during the game that the officials missed an obvious walking violation.
  16. Elizabethton won number 14 tonight in a make-up game with Greeneville. Final score 48-38. I am sure coachh17 will give us the details.
  17. Dang fellers. You have got me corn-fused. Is this the one river or three rivers?
  18. from the Johnson City Press 11/09/10 Hardin having a great season on any field for Cyclones By Douglas Fritz Press Sports Writer dfritz@johnsoncitypress.com Christine Hardin is having one of the greatest overall fall seasons in the history of Northeast Tennessee girls high school athletics. “It’s the most impressive thing I’ve seen a kid do in the 32 years I’ve been around athletics,†said Cyclones’ athletic director Mike Wilson. Hardin helped the Cyclones’ soccer team reach the regional semifinals. The sophomore led the team in goals scored with 35, and was named the Region 1-A/AA offensive player of the year. Meanwhile, she has enjoyed a very solid season as the place-kicker for the football team. She is 35 of 39 on extra-point attempts and has connected on 2 of 4 field goal chances for a total of 41 points. The Cyclones will play Knoxville Austin-East in the second round of the TSSAA Class 3A playoffs Friday. And if that wasn’t enough, Hardin competed Saturday in the state cross country meet. Despite spending most of her time in soccer and football all season, Hardin posted an 18th place finish among 177 competitors. Her time of 21:28.69 was just 27 seconds away from a top-10 finish. “To me the most amazing thing she has done is qualify for the state in cross country, despite having no time to train between football and soccer,†said Wilson. “In soccer you do a lot of running, but it’s still not the same thing. “Having trained as a cross country runner myself, what she has done in cross country is probably the most amazing thing of all.†Adding to the difficulty of Hardin’s accomplishment Saturday, she kicked in Friday’s 30-14 win over Chuckey-Doak before getting in a car with her parents and riding almost four hours to Nashville, arriving after midnight. She then got up early in the morning for the state meet. Wilson said there’s little doubt that if Hardin had trained all season for cross country, she would have been a threat to win the state title. And even when the fall sports season is over, Hardin won’t be through. She’s also a good basketball player.
