batman, One slight correction about the '38-'39 Betsy state championship. Betsy and DB played to a 0-0 tie in the final game of the regular season. Thus the big 5 was a tie between them. Betsy went on to defeat DB 39-0 in the first round of the state playoffs (another 1st round loss for someone to complain about).

ghs1fan - If my memory serves me there were not a many excellent Knoxville teams last year. The east tn teams that went to Murfreesboro were South Green and Betsy. SG winning dist 1 and EHS winning the regional. They both beat the Knoxville area teams in the sectionals and advanced to the Boro. greenevillefan91- Itt seems to me that greeneville lost a HOF game to SG last year and has lost to both Betsy and SG this year. BOTH OF YOU NEED TO RESPECT YOU OPPONENTS

The Johnson Co. - Elizabethton game scheduled for Friday 1/29 at Elizabethton has been rescheduled on Thursday 1/28.

Why was Elizabethton undefeated district 1 champion seeded #2? Why was CAK district 4 #2 seeded number 3 behind Elizabethton a team which they beat two weeks ago? Why were Elizabethon and Austin East not seeded #1 and #2 in their geographical regions? Member schools of the T$$AA had little input on the rules of the playoff. T$$AA made the rules. Is it too much to expect them to follow those rules? I am sorry that they were up all night but they should get it right. Now is the time for them to DO WHAT’S RIGHT!

Gerry, On your quad 1 bracket - from the video that T$$AA had they showed when a district had four teams in a quad that they would be seperated 1 and 4 in the top half and 2 and 3 in the bottom. No team to meet a district opponent in the first round. Elizabethton, North, Happy Valley and Johnson Co are all in District 1.

Gerry We may be splitting hairs but as I re-read the T$$AA football regulations very carefully I noticed something very interesting. The word seeding is used but not in the context you and I would expect. From football regulations Section iii F Once the 24 teams have been selected in the Class 1A and 2A playoffs, the teams will be geographically grouped into four six-team quadrants. In Class 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A, the teams will be geographically grouped into four eight-team quadrants. This grouping will be done without regard to region alignments. The teams within each quadrant are placed in the bracket so that teams from the same district will not play each other in the first round. The only exception would be when 5 or more teams from the same district qualify for the play-offs and all 5 teams are in the same geographic quadrant. After teams from the same district have been separated,placements are then arranged with priorities given to automatic qualifiers. Teams finishing 1st in their district will receive highest priority. Teams finishing 2nd in their district will receive second priority. Teams not finishing 1st or 2nd in their district but finishing in the top half of their subdivision will be given third priority, followed by wild card qualifiers. IV. THE PLAY-OFF GAMES (DIVISION I: Class 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A) A. The first-round games in all classifications shall be played on the 11th Friday of the football season. The second round shall be played on the 12th Friday, the quarterfinals on the 13th Friday, the semifinals on the 14th Friday, and the championship games shall be played on either the following 15th Thursday, Friday or Saturday. B. In Class 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A the higher seeded team shall be the host school. If the two schools are the same seed, in odd numbered years the top team in each bracket shall be the host team. In even-numbered years the bottom team in each bracket shall be the host team. Note that the word placement is used to seperate teams from the same district. If teams are truly seeded then it would be impossable to have two teams "the same seed". Does this imply that in the case of 3 - #1s (ie quadrent 1) that eastern teams would be placed in top position in the normal #2 - #3 position? The term priority is also used in the quoted passage.

CAK is west of Alcoa....CAK is also about 2 miles closer to the other eastern teams. If you know anything about T$$AA decisions and want to figure out how they will do this, figure out how they will make the most $$.

In the football regulations the term "East" is not used. The term used is geographically grouped. I'me not sure what that means, but I would think road mileage would be a defination. If you get in your little yellow bus and drive from seven schools who are expected to be in quad 1 (east) to any of the schools in district 4 the closest would be CAK.
