  1. Before the meeting a month or so ago, Childress stated that the last 8 violations were from DI schools, then Marshall county was penalized this week.
  2. Pepvol, you seem to have your rebel flag all in a wad. My post brought to light the hypocrisy on DI schools always screaming about DII schools recruiting when it's been proven that the last 9 infractions have been caused by DI schools. But hey, thanks for thinking of me.
  3. We can agree on that: "If what they were doing was not recruiting, I don't know what was" Whats the difference in a CPA/MBA/BGA/whatever supporter going to a Brentwood/Franklin/whatever thread on CoachT and talk about how great their school is? Under your "knowledge" of recruiting, I couldn't sit with my friends on the opposing side before/during/after a game and talk about my private school with him.
  4. Who stated he was enrolled? If he was enrolled, then Marshall county did a horrible job of presenting their case.
  5. The TSSAA investigated this as the student in question was still a prospective student. If he was enrolled, I'm sure that would have come out in the investigation.
  6. We chose the private school we did for our son based on academics, location, and reputation. My son was a leading factor in the two state championship rings he has....he was NEVR recruited, we chose the school, we drove him there until he turned 16. Now, back in the late 80's I was 100% recruit by one of the large co-ed schools in Chattanooga from the local high schools.
  7. We can all assume they do, but that would be wrong. The TSSAA is looking into all valid recruiting allegations (see the 9 public school violations) when people bring them to the TSSAA....not just word of mouth. If you have proof that CPA recruits, by all means show it to the TSSAA.
  8. If a coach drives that prospective student to visit Lipscomb, busted....just like Marshall county did. If parents drive the prospective student to Lipscomb, rules followed and that player would be valued as .8 higher then a public school player.
  9. Any school caught breaking recruiting rules or are open zones should have the 1.8 mutiplier added to their enrollment just like all private schools do. Private acknowledge who they are and play within the rules, thats why they have the highest multiplier in the nation.
  10. There is an obvious recruiting problem in high school sports. For the 9th time in a row a recruiting violation was committed by a public school. Marshall county is the latest culprit: http://www.examiner.com/article/marshall-county-hit-with-probation-for-violating-recruiting-rule?cid=rss
  11. What in the world are you referring to? It's Monday, you need to quit drinking so early on Monday's
  12. Top to bottom, Div II AA. There's a reason it was ranked the number 2 toughest high school conference in the counrty. There might not be a dominat team this year, but there sure isn't cream puffs at the bottom like most classes.
  13. What do guns have to do with mascots? Are you implying the "rebel" name can't be changed because all the fine citizens will pull their guns out? Please explain the gun reference.
  14. If this can happen in backwoods Arkansas, it can happen in east and middle Tennessee.
  15. Correct, so dropping "Rebels" would not be the end all for yall.
  16. Can anyone tell me some players I should watch the season in middle TN? Especially a left handed setter.
  17. You're correct. But would it really be so bad if that happened? No. You play for the first name, not for the wildcats, bears, owls, rebels, or rednecks. If a mascot defines yours school then there are more issues at play then somone taking away a mascot.
  18. Careful Hickman county, if you beat Lewis county in the alumni game every year, the Lewis county AD will whine to the TSSAA to have you moved out of district.
  19. It's just a matter of time till schools like Franklin and Maryville change from the rebels to whatever. But does it really matter to fans if they change their names? Will the quality of football be different? Will fans not show up because they can't yell "go rebels" and waive they stars and bars?
  20. You never answered my question........with all the hate being directed at private schools from public schools, do you honestly believe enough public schools would vote for a private school rep to represent them on the boards? If you answer that truthfully, you'll have the answer as to why the privates will now get 3 out of 12 seats.
  21. You have to be voted to that position. Do you honestly think a potential private school rep would receive votes from public schools to represent them? No. That's why there is not a rep for private schools nor would there be in this enviroment unless the rules are changed (as they will and should be). Don't get your panties in a wad Gerry, publics will still out number privates 9-3 in voting so I fully expect another private/public split to be voted on in the next year or two.
  22. Who is "they"? The TSSAA? The 4 misguided reps who voted for the split?
  23. That is the stupidest thing I've read on these boards.....and that's saying a lot. They fear a lawsuit because they knew they were in the wrong by trying to remove privates when privates had zero say.
  24. More likely is the members who voted for the privates to stay knew the TSSAA would be taken to court, lose, then be bankrupt. The 5 brave members put the TSSAA ahead of what some two bit AD from Lewis County has to say or some single A coach who only thinks of his 250+ students.
  25. I read the article. An anonymous mother is a pretty sketchy source. Is the TSSAA investigating?
