  1. Would be very much looking forward to this match-up if some of our injured defense were back on the field....especially Parks, but, if I understand correctly that's not going to happen. Hope both teams can avoid injuries and much luck to Fairview on the rest of their season.
  2. Interesting...I don't see any of our "November deer eaters" trolling your threads...could be that you might be a little curious about something?
  3. Nothing to report from Hickman, RedRage....since this is our first year to have a football team...maybe we will find enough boys to actually get 11 on the field at the same time. Don't give our Dawgs a second thought....
  4. How have the Bulldogs performed in the 7 on 7s? Haven't heard much so far.
  5. Well Hickmanfan, I think we found a live one!
  6. No shame in the facilities tradertwo...I believe Hickman will be coming to your town this year? We look forward to having new teams to compete against and new neighbors to meet. We are all there for the kids and great football. Visitors understand that some programs are newer than others...on the bright side you will have nice, new everything sooner rather than later.
  7. I'm hoping that this is a completely different team for Hickman this year...new attitude, new strategy, new uniforms, new focus, another new face on the coaching staff. Can't believe it, but I am agreeing with FBHighway on this part...new year...let's roll! I could care less who did what last year...who was better, who had injuries, which concession stand had the best popcorn...all very irrelevant.
  8. I agree that this season should have more of a fun element given that there are three new teams to play against and new talent to watch. The team that thinks they have all the answers and gets comfortable and lazy prior to any game will be the team that looks foolish when the lights go out for the night. Coaches better stay on their toes and have their teams ready for hard fought battles each and every week.
  9. Palk is a fine player. Athletic, highly skilled, and always plays hard and that certainly won't change this year. There is plenty of talent within each region. When folks start understanding that what happened last year or 5 years ago is history and there are new coaches growing into their positions, and the baton has been passed to new players, we will actually be able to have some interesting volleys on this site. Competition is fierce, everyone's boys are working hard and ready to start this season officially. Who cares who was better last year, or which running back was faster, which QB threw the most passes...if they graduated, then they are gone. I won't be paying to see the graduated players sitting in the stands this season. I'll be paying to watch the boys on the field. Milan straight up provided us a spanking last year...and if I remember correctly, it wasn't the first time. New year, new season, new region, new competitors, new schedule. Just keepin' it relevant.
  10. Yep, I think Robert Mays was the QB during the 1984 season. Good memory you have.
  11. I thought True graduated in 83 or 84?...pretty sure he graduated prior to May 1985...don't think he was on the 1984 team, but could be wrong
  12. This should be an interesting season for sure. Large senior class, loaded with size and strength to take care of the line both ways. A very talented junior class that has a valuable year of experience under their belts. The key to this year's success will be pure strategy on Harrison's part. He has decent talent at most all positions...just needs to design O & D plans to compliment. Team seems more committed than the last few years and has strong leaders in Ward and Parks. It seems to be all business for them. The team is eager for the chance to bust thru the third round ceiling. This group of seniors have already been there twice...third time's a charm?
  13. All seniors last season were not starters...in fact, several of the Sr. starters were riddled with injuries so didn't play a large part of the season. OL and DL are in tact...didn't lose any Qback Talent...most of the upcoming seniors have been starters or have had significant play time since Freshman year. Zero ego and a very committed mentality this year. Working hard for each other and the team.
  14. I like the way you think UCM! Let the Big Dawgs eat!
  15. Congratulations to the Milan Bulldogs....you have a very athletic team and were gracious hosts. Best of luck next week against CPA.
  16. I disagree with Bulldog 24. Coaching is much different this year, practices have been much different. Coach Harrison believes in playing both ways regardless of your position...he coaches like we are a 1A team, not a 5A team. We don't have a big volume of kids on the team and he plays them to their fullest potential...some have a great deal and some don't have a lot, but he doesn't try to make them what they aren't. And for the poster that questioned how proud we are of these young men...even if we do lose, and even if we lose badly, there will be no shame. Two years ago I think you witnessed the stands cheering as loudly after our loss...in fact I do believe we were louder and prouder than your stands and your team won. You can't beat that down regardless of what the score may be.
  17. Hickman has been the underdog all regular season. No one has picked them to win more than three games all year. The community could not be prouder of their accomplishments this season. To be the only team remaining in the playoffs from our district is a great honor. These boys don't do fanfare, trash talking, or individual promotion. We have some talented running backs, but they get their holes from our big men. Team effort all the way. They are once again the underdog for another fight...and that's where they like to play. I hope both teams have an injury free game and we look forward to your hospitality on Friday.
  18. Congratulations to Camden on the district win! Sometimes the best all around team doesn't win this award, but I think it was awarded correctly this year. Hats off to the Lions! Also, a special shout out to Fairview. Your season-ending play was quite impressive. I am betting Camden is glad they played yall earlier in the schedule rather than during the second half of the season. Nice job! Best of luck to our beloved 11AA District teams as playoffs begin. Safe journeys and injury free games to all...
  19. We warmly welcome all of the Waverly fans...Friday night will be our annual "pink out" game so we can honor the true fighters and survivors....puts the game into proper perspective, don't you think? I hope everyone has safe travels to Centerville and both teams avoid any injuries.
  20. This is very interesting news...next...
  21. Congratulations to the Fairview team. Seems like you folks understand the importance of adjusting your strategy at half time. Best of luck to you for the rest of the season.
  22. 1) Never said Hickman was a one-loss ball club...your words, not mine 2) So since Lewis Co. beat Waverly, anyone who has or will beat Lewis Co. is a fluke...really? Shallow, my man...very shallow. 3) I would never disrespect Wayne County (or any other team) the way you did on this post. I don't see Waverly choosing to play this caliber of team in their schedule as a non-district game. If they aren't impressive, then why don't you play them next year? 4)I don't think I have mentioned Hickman injuries in a post...much less use them as an excuse...again, your words, not mine 5)I would never use the word "poor" or "bad" to describe Montgomery Central, East Hickman or Creek Wood...they are all very competitive teams and play with lots of heart...lots of great kids. 6)To be honest I don't care if Waverly wins or loses any of the remaining games of the season...the world will keep on turning either way. 7)Our Team knows very well that Hunter is an outstanding athlete. Most of these boys have played ball against each other since Jr. Pro & middle school days. They know each other personally and most play against each other in multiple sports...not to mention Fairview is only 15-20 miles down the road. Again, not a shocker to us that Fairview has talent...and lots of it. 8)If you can't give respect, you should never expect to receive it. 9)Fairview may very well "massacre" Hickman tomorrow night...as long as our team plays their best, fights from the flip to the fog, and represents their school with good sportsmanship and valor, then it's a win in my book. Who knows...we may play just well enough to win on the scoreboard, too...it's happened a few times already this season. We might be blessed enough to pull out another one. Fairview, we look forward to your hospitality on Friday. Thanks for having us.
  23. Oh come on Wavo....give us some details why you feel this way. You are certainly entitled to your own opinion, but you have predicted Hickman to lose every game this season and they are 6-1. They aren't a great team, but they have gotten the job done so far. You had a post on here a few days ago asking folks not to let "your" comments sway the way they felt about the Waverly players and program, but all you do to the Hickman threads is hate. Do you want to share how you reached your decision of a blow out (HC goes down big) between these two teams? I'm not saying it can't happen...anything can happen on any given Friday, but I am curious as to what you feel is Hickman's obvious weakness vs. Fairview, and their continuous weakness week over week, regardless of the foe. I can respect honest opinions with some thought process involved, but "just being a hater for no reason" gets old and lowers the level of respect for Waverly.
  24. The Hickman/Lewis game was a nail biter. However, the Dawgs did have a touchdown called back due to a penalty and LC got the nod on a controversial 2 pt. conversion. So, you could make an argument either way regarding who controlled the game. Our starters are mostly juniors and sophomores and this was the first time they ever played on Lewis Co. soil on a Friday night (due to some scheduling breaks over the past few years)...I think that helped them mentally. They were dead set on breaking the impressive home win streak and weren't intimidated with the historical win/loss ratios. I don't think either team "out played" the other. Lewis County's defense did seem rattled the last few minutes of the game which surprised me given they are a very poised team. Their win over Waverly was very impressive and I hope they keep their momentum for the rest of the season.
