  1. You could be right, if all of them are together it may reduce travel for some since there will be more of em in the same division. Don't believe it will impact travel for public schools.
  2. Don't think there are that many in tricities so privates may have a hard time finding enough privates to play
  3. Really no advantage for privates to play public schools in regular season. Example, most city schools in Middle TN usually get a nice gate from privates, not the other way around. Other than upper E TN, all other metro areas have enough private schools that they won't need to play public.
  4. He did? I heard they still live in the same house in Greenbrier, don't know if this is correct. If they still live there how was he eligible?
  5. Big chief If he transferred to CPA his junior year why did he not sit out a year?
  6. Geraldo Rivera will find a million bucks in Al Capones vault before TSSAA splits public/private
  7. One other thought on this subject, several including myself have said that the answer is for CPA to go d2. However after giving this more thought I believe a better solution to this problem would be for the TSSAA to make a rule that any coach at a HS, head coach down to middle school, who participates in any AAU coaching is not allowed to coach that boy or girl in HS period. The only exception would be if the player was their child. CPA, Maddux, did not start this, you can go as far back as Shelbyville girls to see how this works. Also, Shelbyville is PUBLIC so this AAU situation works in both public and private. If the AAU coaches were truly just interested in the well being of the player and not where the player winds up at HS, then they should not have an issue. They should coach just for the pleasure they get of seeing a player develop and leave their motives at the gym door. It would be interesting to see how coaches like Maddux would participate in AAU if this was a rule going forward. This would certainly disclose their true motive.
  8. TC is one of the best coaching jobs in Middle TN. In order to be successful at any level you need 1) talent, 2) support from your admin, 3) good facilities and 4) strong support from the alumni and community. TC has all of these. TC won't have a problem getting good candidates, just needs to pick a person to keep the ball rolling.
  9. Don't shoot the messenger, but the CPA people I know feel they are at the top of 3a now and it will be many years before they are knocked off. They fired the previous coach because he couldn't beat GP to get out of region, conquered GP, initially couldn't beat Milan, got over that hurdle, got whipped by Alcoa the 1st go around, turned the tables the past year and beat Alcoa at their own game. They like winning at CPA just about more than anything and won't easily give up the title of king of the hill.
  10. Some of the CPA people believe this years team will be the best so far. I'm hearing they are loading up the roster and will be the favorite in 3a for many years to come. They are even taking on Ensworth this year! CPA looks as if they want to replace Ensworth,BA, MBA, as THE private in Nashville when it comes to sports.
  11. David Martin at Stewart's Creek is a name I heard. Runs the wing T to perfection.
  12. For what's its worth, I was listening to Bill Kings radio show on 95 am ESPN in Nashville this morning. He is on from 9-10 am. Bill is a long time college sports expert. I believe he is friends with Coach M at CPA. The topic of Vandy basketball came up. Bill said he usually defends Stallings, but he said that if Vandy ever wants to make it to the big dance every year, they need to replace Stallings with Maddux for the simple reason that Maddux is known for his recruiting and would improve Vandys talent immediately. Now, I don't believe Bill would intend to ever disparage Coach M, in fact this was intended to be a complement. However, when someone with the background and respect that Bill King has says your high school coach recruits better than the coach at your local D1 college, then can the CPA faithful see why everyone outside of Brentwood feels the way they do about CPA? Again, this was not someone calling a radio show or someone posting a rant on Coach T, this is a respected sports authority! The only way King could say this is in reference to CPA and the talent he has had there and the talent there now. I know some at CPA have admitted they need to move to D2, others say they play by the rules and unless someone proves otherwise to TSSAA, then just get better or shut up. If CPA fans, admin, parents were really concerned about playing where they should be playing, they should demand the athletic director or school president pick up the phone today to the TSSAA office and go D2. You don't need to wait till next classification period or when the TSSAA gets around to splitting public/private, do it now.
  13. Nerd The Tennessean said he played at CPA 2 years after transferring from Davidson. Is this correct? Did he sit out a year? I agree he looks like a good LB prospect, may be too big for SS.
