I came away impressed with Riverdale. Thought they did a good job of controlling the line of scrimmage. Obviously the offense has some way to go, but that is almost always the case with the offense this time of year. I think both Blackman and Oakland had their moments. Both O-Line's were able to pave the way for some good yardage, but both hurt themselves with mistakes. It still will be a dandy of a game when they meet up. I think we can put the question to rest on if Siegel can still produce on offense. The looked in mid-season form last night. Unfortunately, you cant say the same for LaVergne. Wont matter how many points they score if they cannot stop anybody.

Well if he doesnt pan out, just about every college program was wrong, not just UT

He did play some, and got one good run on Oakland, but thats was it. Oakland held him in check the rest of the game

Better yet, name the year of LaVergne's only win over Smyrna

There is a kid with the name Christian Music that plays for Blackman

Now they beat Smyrna, and win the first few games after that, then Ill be singing a different tune. I really like they have going on offense, but like you, I question their defense. Gotta have it in this district.

Hard to take LaVergne seriously until they take down Smyrna. Theyre schedule sets up well, but ive been optimistic about LaVergne before and got burned. To me, Smyrna is the clear choice for 4th, at this moment

No doubt, Oakland strugged early, but McCallie runs a offense that is : A.) Tough to gameplan for when you have a week, let alone a scrimmage and B.) Oakland can ran a studpid simple base defense tonight. Yes the secondary made a few bad reads, but after the first few possessions, it was cleaned up. McCallie didnt move the ball at all on the ground. The safeties arent going to be playing that close to the line of scrimmage against a team like Siegel that will chuck all over the place The holding penalties, forced turnovers, etc are going to happen early. Its when they happen over and over and over that they become a concern. Bottom line is, Oakland moved the ball at will against a pretty good D-II team. I didnt report Emmanuel's injury because I was not going to play the guessing game. He's a talented player, but not having him will not hinder Oakland in its ability to win any game this year, IMO. Oakland simply just has too much depth at the skill positions for one injury to hurt them that much

BTW, I am going to be in need of score reporters and writers this season. If any of you guys would be interested, just let me know and we'll go from there. Ideally, I'd be able to have one from each school for calling in scores and a few for doing game write-ups. Milo, TDC, Mykidsdad, StarRaider, nrgrizzlies, I think you guys would be ideal for this as all of you seem to have a pretty firm grasp on the respectice programs that you follow.............

To me, Smyrna's record last year is a tad bit deceiving given how brutal their non-district schedules have been. I understand your concern, but they have looked pretty sharp this pre-season. I know its just scrimmages, but usually solid play in the pre-season will translate well into the season. I like the potential of what their offense could become.

Blackman could win 7-AAA, but not Riverdale. I like Smyrna, but we find out early if they will be any good with a rather easy schedule early. I think they could maybe squeeze into 3rd, but anything past that would be very impressive

TDC, I had every intention of going to that scrimmage, but couldnt because of a family emergency. I very much am looking forward to seeing Riverdale in the jamboree

I like Davidson alot. I think he continues to progress, Blackman has the makings of a pretty potent running game

Maybe not, and maybe not a completely new stadium, but I think an improvement on the facilities at those 2 schools is much needed.

Many fans of successful programs like Maryville dont realize how good they have that until that success is gone. Ask Riverdale. They'll do well just to make the playoffs this year

Just switched offenses this past season. They have also had trouble with Coach turnover the last few seasons. They are going to be tough for any team the next few seasons
