  1. Took over a great job at OR and won 4 games in Year 4. Hester had practically no talent to work with. May be a bad job, but Stevens is also a bad HC
  2. Mason inherited a good situation and left it in a bad one. I think Derek Mason is a good coach, makes for a solid DC. But the leader of a program? Hard pass
  3. They've had a little success. Stevens was there 10 years, he had plenty of time. You ask anybody in RuCo or OR, they're likely to have the same opinion. There is a reason why he hasn't been a HC since 2019. This isn't baseball, if you only convert a third of your 3rd downs, your not having a good game
  4. I know LaVergne has a ceiling of what's possible and aware of the quality of football being played, but nobody did less with more than Stanton Stevens at LaVergne. Central is better off hiring an assistant
  5. That's not a valid reason for hiring a retread. Accepting mediocrity is why fans wanted a change in the first place You win 8 games at Vandy like Franklin did, I call that a success
  6. If he gets hired away, then that means his tenure was a success, I think most mtsu fans would be OK with that
  7. Stevens also was terrible at LaVergne. Warren just happened to be the poor soul that was in charge after Bishop graduated. Give any coach the loaded cupboard Stevens had and they'd have a title to their name as well. Central can do MUCH better
  8. I think most ppl that support MTSU were not being unrealistic in wanting a young coach that can energize the fanbase and community. Derek Mason isn't that. I suspect MTSU isn't going to give him the lkind of loyalty that they gave Stockstill
  9. Good list, but I'd add Southwind and Beech to that. Southwind is returning a QB that won Mr. Football as a Soph and Beech is very talented but was young last year
  10. Was thinking Ingle as QB Coach, Adam Caine as RB Coach, David Ellis OL/TE Coach, Will Hester for WRs. Stephen Jackson for DLine, Jim Gaylor for LBs, Lamar Brown for DBs with Buck Fitzgerald as recruiting coordinator. Should have been an AD
  11. Hire Rankin. Make GQ OC and Creasy DC. Sure better than what they ended up with
  12. Boo is an incredible athlete but where you hurt Oakland is bewteen the tackles. Sisa wasn't a power back but had a big oline, the other teams that have had success against Oakland largely did it bewteen the tackles (outside of Riverdale)
  13. I haven't seen Boo nearly as often as you have, I think both are incredibly athletic but big difference in running style. Boo has alot of Reggie Bush in his game, bobbing and weaving across the field for a big gain. Morris is more of a 1 cut runner and he's off to the races. . Pretty incredible set of athletes whose skills I believe translate well to the next level
  14. Morris led the team in receiving yards as well, but yes Boo was all over the field
  15. I got no problem with Boo Carter winning Mr. Football, he was a great player on BOTH sides of the ball. Also, playoffs aren't factored in when voting for Mr. Football
  16. Kyler Creasy was actually the full time starter to start the season. It wasn't until he got hurt and Freeman proved himself capable that the 2 qb system became a thing. Personally I prefer Freeman, I feel like he's shown abilities that you need in a championship qb aside from his arm, but obviously Kyler knows the offense better. I trust in Creasy to make the best decision for the team. Oakland does base out of the Wing-T, but they'll show alot of different formations over the course of the season, so what Oakland does can vary from team to team. Creasy has had teams at Oakland that could sling it, but in a given year, most of Oakland's talent is OL,DL,DB and TB. If Creasy wanted to, he could have a 2,000 yard passer every season. I suspect next season you could see more of Morris at WR if Haynesworth can stay healthy and proves to be a guy Creasy can trust. That's assuming if Freeman stays at Oakland
  17. BA had some guys show up last year and it did happen
  18. Hats off to Houston, there's nobody that can say they aren't the best team in 6A after going through Germantown, Brentwood and Oakland like they did. People will call it an upset, but Houston was just better plain and simple. Nothing like seeing your team get their first title, I congratulate Coach Thomas and his players on a job well done as well as the Houston community. For Oakland's seniors, there is nothing to hang your head for. 4 year record of 56-4 with 3 gold balls and a silver is pretty amazing. This team faced adversity on their road to Chattanooga and had to win 3 road games to get there. I'm proud of what these seniors and this team accomplished. Alot of this Oakland team returns in 2024, interested to see their development in the months that follow
  19. Congrats to your firebirds @FBfan26, it's been long overdue and couldn't happen to a more deserving coach
  20. Long as you promise to recruit aggressively in-state, works for me
