  1. I’m just going to preface this by saying that none of this will ever happen, because trust me, this Grabowski man has never done anything wrong in his eyes, but it would sure be nice if TheCommander was issued an apology. It would also be nice to see an apology issued to the alumni as a whole for less than ideal treatment during his tenure, especially the dozens and dozens of angry and offended ones. I understand that he is trying to “revitalize” the program, but for whatever reason, except for a few instances, in which he deserves credit, he has shown complete indifference and often disrespect toward former players and coaches. As for regaining respect, I will need to see the apologies and more importantly, total repentance from past behavior and behavior like we’ve seen in this forum over the weekend before I’m ready to even begin that discussion.
  2. Hey, TheCommander. I heard that Grabowski man had a beheading scheduled for you this evening and you didn’t show. First, you violate players’ rights and now you’re late for your own execution. You gotta be better than that, man.
  3. I think this is definitely the burning question. I personally take offense to certain parts of the post. I know for a fact that TheCommander has spilt blood for the program. As have I. Where do we go from here? Are we banning alums for speculative forum posts now? Poor choice of words in a post penned with rage and with lack of thought for consequences. Not conduct befitting of a head football coach.
  4. Chad, buddy... After turning a program around from 1-9 to 6-4, I don’t think I’d be trying to make any enemies. There’s a reason coaches tend stay off these threads. This was a bad move and will age badly. Also, that talk about “dealing” with TheCommander is an even dumber call, especially at this point in your tenure. You HAVE to know better than this, man. Game day turnout is bad as it is. I’m not saying that what was said was right or wrong, but I’ll agree with Croz that the subject matter in question is discussed on here all the time. I think it may be worth sitting down and asking if the fact that it was about your son had something to do with your decision to post. No one would blame you if that’s the case, but it sends a bad message as a coach of 35 other players.
  5. We’re adults, right? I have no problem whatsoever saying Go Pirates. I was 1-2 against the Pirates and have immense respect for the program and the community. That doesn’t mean that I don’t want my Silver Hats to win. It’s kinda sad if anything less than total hatred is the standard for us has-beens.
  6. Cap, I’m a Basin lifer as player and coach. I know every single guy from our community that has ever posted on this site. I can assure you 100%, without doubt, none of us said anything derogatory about them pirate boys. Y’all are a good bunch and I hope you fellas finish out the week injury free.
  7. We had a pretty good atmosphere going in 2014 too. But in all seriousness, we’re just looking to avoid injuries for both teams. We already have home playoff games. Regardless of friday’s outcome, there’s a decent chance we’ll meet again in the quarters. Good luck to the Pirates. If any of my coffee loving pirate friends are reading this, I’ll have a pot waiting on you when you when you reach the Basin. You know who you are. And Cap, there’s not a one of us up here harboring any ill will toward the Pirates. I think that beat down talk is a tad unnecessary, but if it helps you sleep at night... by all means, go for it.
  8. The situation that was created in the mid 80s is a good example to apply today. If you look at each of the Silver Hats’ best seasons of the 80s, semi teams in ‘83, ‘84, and a quarter team in ‘88, you see a trend. Kids stayed in state and didn’t go to Murphy, Hiawassee Dam, or Fannin County. Either way, I’d say the players are mentally and physically prepared for tonight. Central has some gaping weaknesses in their defense that should be easily exploited. I do worry, both about Central and SP, about our play in the box. Tonight will be a litmus test for all three teams. Kinda cool how it worked out that way.
  9. Like I said, no one ever said you weren’t allowed to be horribly, horribly wrong.
  10. That’s ok. No one ever said you weren’t allowed to be horribly wrong. Basin shuts out Tellico if they don’t play 3rd string. 8th graders allowed 1 score with 18 seconds left. I think central beat them by 1 point. I have Silver Hats 20-14. 2-3 score margin of victory for either team is a joke.
  11. I hope to almighty God that nobody in Englewood thinks that Basin is a pushover. Top 3 receiver in the state with 2 others that have had 100+ yard games. QB with nearly, if not more than 2000 yards rushing/passing combined. This will be a slugfest. 20-14 Silver Hats.
  12. The Refuter Top 10 1. South Pittsburg 2. Huntingdon 3. Greenback 4. Lake County 5. Freedom Prep 6. Fayetteville 7. Coalfield 8. Copper Basin 9. Monterey 10. Oliver Springs Honorable Mention: Clay County Greenfield Memphis Middle College
  13. This post might not age well. I wouldn’t dig too deep into the prediction well, PP. Pirates win, but I’d wait a few more weeks before I said it won’t be close. The Silver Hats are doing big things. QB with 1200+ after week 5 and WR with 700+ at week 5. They have some sure weapons, and that’s not to say that SP doesn’t. This will likely be a ball game.
  14. Apologies, Captain. I guess I read something into it that wasn’t there. Go pirates.
  15. Don’t worry, Captain. SP is a good team and a good program. Almost certainly better than CB this year. But you’re a fool if you think Basin is or has ever been intimidated by the Pirates. See you guys in November... twice.
  16. One thing we can be almost 100% certain on is that these teams will play twice this year and it’s the second one that will count. Good luck to you and them boys in black and orange.
  17. I got it. Because Red Bank and Meigs beat the same team a season ago and one beat them worse that obviously means that the team that beat them worse is the better team this season. I’m glad we could figure this out. Meigs is a good football team and so is Red Bank. I think Red Bank is better this year and I will think so until proven otherwise. Luckily, South Pittsburg just may be in the perfect situation to figure things out for the both of us. Good luck, Tigers. Hope y’all bring a ring home this year.
  18. Yes. Do I think they can beat them? If they played right now, absolutely not. I truly don’t think the pirates can put a lid on little Grabowski. But I even more so believe that the pirates will eat CB’s defensive box for dinner. Trap and Double Dive will go for 15 yards average and that’s only if we can corral those backs with the secondary. The sweep doesn’t scare me. The biggest threat is between the tackles and that’s where we want it to be as a program. The boys just gotta step up to the plate. Basin is improving every single week, and it’s honestly astonishing. They took their only loss under the chin in NC by one point to one of the better Hayesville teams in recent memory. I watched SP play Sequatchie, and even on Week 1 with an average performance, I could tell they’d be a 10-0, 8-2 team. So I’m not talking out of my behind when I say that there will be no mercy rule. SP wins, but by less than 3 scores. Ask me again on Week 8 or 9.
  19. Short answer: Yes, for now. Red Bank is a Top 5 3A team this year statewide. Meigs is Top 5 2A. Both are fantastic football teams and they’ll be the only teams keeping SP from 10-0. Friday will very revealing. Like I said earlier, RB by 14, but IF the pirates pull it off, I don’t think there will be another team that can play with them until the 1A championship game. So it’s not really a direct answer to your question, but if SP beats Red Bank, I truly believe they will also beat Meigs.
  20. I’m really relieved to hear you say that, and I think that means miles in terms of how competitive GB will be in 1A this year. BUT, playing tight with Meigs and even beating them by a score or two is still not good enough to beat Red Bank this year, at least in my opinion. I guess we will just all have to see how this turns out. SP could pull it out, but I’m sticking to Red Bank by 2 scores.
  21. Greenback couldn’t beat Meigs County and you think they can beat Red Bank? I respect it, but that’s an... interesting take to say the least.
  22. No sarcasm, Captain. IF the Pirates beat Red Bank, they will cruise to Cookeville. Even after getting #6, Red Bank will be the toughest team they will have played all year.
  23. Meigs by a mile and then some. Central played Tellico to a 1 point ball game. For context, 1A Copper Basin beat Tellico by 12 and didn’t allow a point until the 8th graders hit the grass.
