  1. Anyone get the full all district and all district tournament teams?
  2. One would think... Or did I miss something? Dyersburg wins tonight 56-27. Great performance by the LTs.
  3. If the higher seeded teams from 14AA win their next games and Crockett and Dyersburg win tonight... Dream scenario for Dburg. Almost too good. That's a lot of iffs ands, and buts though. It has to all be settled on the court.
  4. I just saw that too. If the goal is to get the tournament wrapped up without having to postpone it, this is a poor decision IMO. If it snows 2-4 inches Sunday night-Monday as expected, you can forget a tournament game being played Tuesday much less Monday as temperatures are expected to plunge into the teens. The current National Weather Service forecast doesn't have the high temperature in Martin getting above freezing until Friday... Correct me if I'm wrong, but if a school district cancels classes for a school day, all after school activities including athletics are off for the day as well. And even if one of the school districts in the final four cancels school on a scheduled tournament day, that day's games would be postponed to another day. Heck, even if it snows an inch in Obion County, having school Tuesday morning at OCC would be unlikely. The winter storm watch that encompasses all of district 13AA begins Sunday at 6:00 and ends Monday at 6:00. We could have wrapped this up before the start of the storm. Oh well. I'll get off of my weather rant for now. It may not snow a single flake and I may be totally wrong, but the chance of having measurable, accumulated snow on the roads for at least 36 hours is growing increasingly likely. Guess there's a reason I'm not important enough to make these decisions.
  5. Region 7AA Bracket I Crockett/WV winner vs SS/McNairy loser winner plays Dburg/SGC winner vs Lexington/Bolivar loser Bracket II Lexington/Bolivar winner vs Dburg/SGC loser winner plays Crockett/WV loser vs SS/McNairy winner ------------------------------------------------------------- South Side's loss really helps the winners of the 13AA games tonight. Dyersburg REALLY needs to win tonight. The road to the region championship becomes MUCH easier if they do. (unless 14AA has 2 upsets in the final round)
  6. The consolation game for 13AA will be played SUNDAY at 3:00 with the championship game to follow immediately after.
  7. Being reported by Dyersburg's Charles Dawson and Charles Cowles of 97.3 FM that the district principals, ADs, and coaches are going to hold a meeting between tonight's semi-final games to discuss holding the championship game and consolation game for 13AA boys Sunday afternoon due to the ever growing threat of winter weather early next week. The new weather models suggest multiple rounds of winter weather starting Sunday evening into Monday morning.
  8. Anyone know when the first round games of the 7AA tourney take place?
  9. Rural West TN got snubbed BIG TIME. Madison Heckert (A) West Carroll and Myah Taylor (AA) Dyersburg should have both ABSOLUTELY been nominated. Heckert should have WON. I know that Heckert has to be averaging a double-double. I know more about Myah Taylor. 44 points against Liberty Tech. is her season high Averaging nearly a double-double at 23+ points & 9+ rebounds, she has earned a scholarship to play at UTM. She has 2 triple doubles and numerous double-doubles to go along with setting multiple school records including most 3 pointers in a season and most 3 pointers in a game which she set this season. She is nearing the 2,000 point mark for her career. Someone posted a great image in this thread on page 3 I believe, that highlights more of Myah's credentials. I can't believe that either of these 2 young ladies were left out.
  10. The region tourney is going to be INSANE. I hope 13AA shows out.
  11. Oh, I agree. I have said (on a seperate thread) that POY would be between Tasia Jones and the winner of tonight's semi final (either Myah Taylor or Hart). Crockett simply didn't give Myah an inch of space AND she fouled out. Hart put up a ton of points; as hard as it is to say, she wins that tossup easily. All three of the mentioned players are ballers and could, in my opinion, make a case for POY. Haskins is without a doubt a great coach. However, Westview is historically great at women's hoops, and regardless of the fact that they lost Rechis and others, they are expected and should (IMO) be able to constantly cultivate young, new talent to replace those young ladies. Crockett County has been dismal over the years. Coach Witherspoon has led this team to the region tourney for the first time in a decade. It is the transformation that has taken place in Alamo that I think gives Witherspoon the edge. If Haskins does win, I would have no complaints. Both are deserving.
  12. Crockett simply defends Dyersburg better than anyone the Lady Trojans have played this year. Hart played an outstanding game once again. Wouldn't be shocked if Crockett takes COY and MVP. Definitely deserve COY (IMO.) Also wouldn't be shocked if they pull the upset Saturday. What a turn-around for that squad. For Dyersburg, they desperately need to win the consolation game. That will put them opposite of the 14AA champion in the bracket. To be quite honest, I think at this point in the season Dyersburg will fare better against a new, fresh opponent. Westview and especially Crockett have figured Dburg out. Even if they pull out the next two, however, they'll have to beat either Crockett or Westview to clinch a substate birth. Tough row to hoe.
  13. Crockett County just flat out plays defense. They win 49-44 to advance to the district championship.
  14. Man, this district tourney has been and should continue to be a doozy. Both girls and boys remaining games should be highly entertaining.
  15. I can definitely see them being a contender next year. The Lady Trojans have been in a major slump for one reason: poor shooting from 3. That starts with Myah, and when teams guard her well and someone else doesn't step up and hit shots, things don't flow as they should. Tonight they were on, and E Bailey being there for 10 points in the paint and solid rebounding was clutch. If the 3 buffoons that offiaciated the boys contest tonight don't ref in Martin and Hart and Taylor play well, it will be one heck of a game. Getting there early to watch SGC and Westview too. The Lady Hornets have been playing very well as of late.
  16. Dyersburg wins 62-34. The young'ns played the entire 4th quarter. Should be a good one in Martin Thursday.
  17. Dyersburg leads Milan 43-11 at the half. Essence Bailey is back for Dyersburg after missing last week due to illness. Makes a difference.
  18. I know that Semi-finals and championship games for 13AA are played at Westview and that he winner of DHS/Milan plays Crockett County and winner of SG/OCC plays Westview. Do we know the dates and times of the semi-finals and championship game yet? The full bracket hasn't been posted yet.
  19. I thought Hart definitely outscored Myah by quite a bit, but Hart finished with 22 and Myah with 21. I also want to point out that Coach Megan Witherspoon of Crockett County should win Coach of the Year, hands down. Highway robbery if she doesn't.
  20. I agree. If Dyersburg can get by Milan in the opening round, however, they will face Crockett again. I say as long as Taylor/Hart have a decent game in the hypothetical semi-final game, the one whose team advances to the district championship, should wrap up season MVP. I don't think you can count Tasia Jones of Westview out either.
  21. I agree with your point--to some extent--regarding the 2nd missed foul. The 1st missed foul of the last 10 seconds was the bad one. I will reiterate, however: Dyersburg lost that game themselves. The officails were not responsible. We were outplayed. Now regarding Myah's "attitude." I think you have confused passion with having an "attitude." Having a bad attitude doesn't get you triple-doubles, 44 point games, a 3.2 GPA, multiple individual state championships, and the respect, support Myah has. Passion (and talent), however, can.
  22. Dyersburg lost to Crockett by 1 point. Dyersburg honestly didn't play well enough for it to be that close, but closed the gap to 1 after trailing by 9 with under 2 minutes remaining. Myah Taylor was fouled going for a lose ball with less than 10 seconds and there was no call by the officials. Dyersburg fouled and Crockett made the front end of a 1-1 and Myah Taylor rebounded, threw up a desperation 3/4 shot that sailed a whopping 5 feet. Clearly fouled again at the buzzer. No whistle. Again, Crockett played a great game. Dyersburg didn't play well enough to win IMO, but those were definitely 2 missed calls. Major set back for the Lady Trojans.
  23. Uh, I guess more 13AA teams could win their opening round games... lol
  24. Oh, no. That is just my opinion of who the last 4 standing will be. I think this early all we could do is speculate both the teams and the matchups. We won't know region matchups until the district tourney is complete.
