  1. How did the University of Memphis do in last years tournament? What about the year before? What about this year? I say Memphis doesn't even make the tournament this year. That's with the #1 class in the country.
  2. Well I'm glad Tennessee has Barnes and not Hardaway.. Lol!
  3. Yeah well that's the problem with Penny.. I have always respected Penny Hardaway but the way he talked about Barnes and the Tennessee basketball program and now this. NO MORE RESPECT FOR PENNY. Then he doubles down and plays Wiseman last night against Oregon. WOW! This is not the right way to teach young men how to act. PERIOD! Its time the TSSAA brings the hammer down on Memphis East and any other Memphis School (any school for that matter) that knowingly violates the rules like this. Bearden and Whitehaven should be upset because one of those two teams should have another state title.
  4. Got to see William Blount, Maryville, Alcoa and Heritage in the Jamboree last night. Also Alcoa scrimmaged Hardin Valley on Saturday which we lost 64-61. After seeing Hardin Valley again you could be right West might be the 3rd or 4th best team in that district. William Blount could be a little better than I expected too. Maryville will be better than last year and if Maples, Davis, and Chambers plays basketball they could make a run at a state championship.
  5. The basketball has been watered down in all classifications. Brentwood Academy for years was in AA in basketball and football and then went to AAA. CPA,Webb,GCA, and several other private school are no longer with the public schools. Obviously if you take out those schools then there is going to be less competition. What did everybody think was going to happen? This is what most people wanted. Well this is what you get. Same thing has happened in football. Memphis is a whole different ball game. No doubt that city produces the most talent but it also looks like one or two schools become all star teams. It’s not uncommon for a team to get 2 or 3 transfers in a year. That’s just one of the reasons why there is no parity in Memphis in AA. A lot of the so so schools get cherry picked. At least that’s what it looks like to an outsider.
  6. I agree 100%! Nobody wants to go to most of these 1st round games. Back in the 80’s you had to be a good football team to make the playoffs. The first round games were usually good match ups.
  7. AA is very weak??? Compared to what??? You make a few good points but CAK, Anderson County and Loudon are not great basketball schools. Loudon has had a few great teams but not many and CAK has only had recent success in basketball. Catholic and Stone Memorial have had several good teams in the last 10-15 years but this region will still have contenders in the state tournament next year and probably the year after. Also Catholic has the best recruiting service in basketball on the eastern side of the state. They are very different than anyone else you mentioned. As for district 4AA I don't think Fulton, Alcoa, or AE lost to any single A public schools last year. I know they all three beat AAA schools in the area. If anything football (public) should be adjusted to 4 classifications not basketball.
  8. Grainger County will be one of the best AA teams in East Tennessee if not the state. Meigs County will have to play close to their best to get the W. Should be a very good match up early in the year.
  9. Last time I checked district 4 AA has been in the championship game 5 straight years. Now that’s strong business.
  10. Farragut had a couple of nice young players last year. They should be a little better than last year. Just an opinion but I have seen Maryville, Bearden, Hardin Valley, William Blount, and West play this summer. The middle of this District will be very competitive in my opinion.
  11. The season tips off in less than a month. Alcoa, Kingston, and Scott County should all be better than last season. Fulton and AE have several key players to replace but Fulton still has Edward Lacy and AE will be athletic as expected. From top to bottom this district should be very competitive. With Fulton dominance the last 15 years it would be hard to pick against them but I do believe they could be vulnerable this year. We shall see.
  12. 1. Maryville 2. Bearden 3. Hardin Valley 4. Farragut 5. West 6. William Blount 7. Lenore City 8. Heritage 3 -5 in this district should be very competitive.
  13. Ok... Thought the coach last year did a pretty good job.
  14. Maryville will have a chance to make it to the state tournament. They added 2 kids that are real good plus what they already had. They could be the sleeper team in 3A.
  15. Turtle I talked to an AE supporter today and he informed me that you had a new basketball coach. I haven’t seen anything on this but could you confirm or deny. Curious?
  16. Oh ok.. NOT! His comments said everyone else is playing for second in 2AA. That’s when it brought me into the thread. I suggest you ignore any of my post if you don’t like them because I don’t play that way.
  17. Really? Wasn’t Memphis East suppose to be the clear favorite in 3AAA last year and most Memphis fans thought Whitehaven was the second best team? We all know how that turned out. First thing 2AA will be better across the board in my opinion. Teams 4-12 will be much better than last year. Second injuries are common in basketball and you have to avoid the injury bug. Third you have to be able to play as a team on offense and defense. Wooddale has all the pieces to go back to back but I’ve watched basketball far too long to say everyone else is playing for second. Especially before the season even starts...
  18. First of all no adjustments by the defense in the second half. To be in the 3-5 in the 4th quarter is a joke. We got beat up front and really didn’t deserve to be in this game. Offense game plan was not very good either. Give credit to Maryville they wanted it more, with 23 seniors that’s what you get in this game. We tried to get in a passing game with Maryville and that didn’t make any sense.
  19. Yea but playing a 3-5 in this part of the game makes no sense.
  20. Our o-line and d-lines are going to have to pick it up. Maryville has won the battle up front in the first half. First drive could determine this game.
  21. The worst call I’ve seen all year. Wow! Pass interference on the offense? Wow!
  22. BC I believe Maryville will use the short passing game a lot. They have weapons every where and we must contain them from making the big play. Key for us is the run game. If we can gain 3 to 5 yards on first down then I like our chance. Should be another great game...
  23. Lol!I’m actually glad we have another game to tune up. I guess I’m getting a little anxious.
  24. Lol! I guess Ravenwood is not very good either.
