  1. I was embarrassed for Coffee County's coaches last night. They have always seemed to be very classy and I can imagine nobody felt worse about what the nice, thoughtful, considerate old gentleman called one of the Cookeville kids than the Coffee Co. coaches. That gentleman did not represent a school or a county very well at all, but like you guys have said, you certainly can't judge the whole by one man. As for the game, it was well played and well coached on both sides, despite what Tromo might lead everyone who wasn't there to believe. Cookeville's pitching let them down a little bit, but I imagine Spurgeon will be ready to go on Monday when they travel to Soddy. Now, Mr. Tromo, I've been reading your crap on here for a while and I have successfully held my tongue until now. You are dogging Cookeville's catcher for not being able to hit or throw. The fact is that he threw out the only would-be base stealer of the night in the first inning and Coffee County didn't test him the rest of the night. No Coffee Co. runners advanced on passed balls. So he had a bad night at the plate? big deal, get over it. I bet the stats would show he's hitting well over the Mendoza Line, and from what I have seen from the home games that I've watched, he's driven in his fair share of runs from the middle of the lineup. As for your comment about hitting it to the third baseman, he made one error last night, on a barehanded play on a drag bunt, the toughest play in baseball. He didn't make any errors on any other plays of the three or four that i remember being hit to him. Let it go. Either be a fan of the team, a real one, or find another team where you actually like the catcher and third baseman. Dogging high school kids from behind a screen name is worse than the Coffee Co. grandfather calling a kid a derogatory name in front of hundreds of people, because at least he didn't try to hide. He let everyone know who he was and how he felt. There is never a correct way to dog a high school kid, especially as an adult, but at least he didn't try to hide his identity. Here's a better solution, just be silent. Your blood pressure will probably thank you.
  2. Cookeville 15 Lebanon 8 Cavaliers are District 7AAA Champs! First time in a long time - congratulations guys!
  3. Everyone can make a case that their district is the best for one reason or another, but if you just look at the scores in 7AAA and see some of the battles that go on between these teams, you would be hard-pressed to find a more exciting district in the state. Every game is a dog fight and anybody can beat anybody on a given night. You can never take a night off. It's great!
  4. Cookeville wins 3-2 tonight Over the Siegel Stars in a team effort. Senior Bo Reeder gives up two unearned in the first inning of his first appearance on the mound as a Cavalier and then shuts down the Stars the rest of the way. Seniors Brandon Farley, Jerred Griggs and Michael Cox come through with big hits. Its great to see these guys pull out a big district win against a good Siegel team. The Cavs don't get a lot of press or attention outside of Cookeville, but they work hard and as a Cavalier fan I am very proud and happy for them. Great job tonight guys! From the looks of the other scores on the night - this District could be a dog fight every night.
  5. Cumberland County is not very strong, but Cookeville hit the ball pretty well with three homeruns. Always good to get a win.
  6. This should be a very interesting year in 7-AAA. I look for it to be very competitive between the Boro schools, and i look for Lebanon and Cookeville to sneak up and win a few against the Boro teams. Ultimately, i see it being Riverdale winning the district. its just hard to beat the champs. i look for Oakland to finish second, followed by Siegel, Blackman, Cookeville, Lebanon, White County, Warren County. Warren County, after having a fairly good year last year, will definitely have a tough year this year. They lost 7 starters from last year's team to graduation. Thats hard for anyone to overcome. White County lost 3 seniors last year i believe, but one was one of their two hosses on the mound, and he will be hard to replace. JJ Taylor is a heck of an athlete, but he has to keep his head, and not scratch out obscenities in the outfield of their biggest rival. JJ will get flustered against a team that hits well off of him. Lebanon is a team i really don't know much about. They are always decent, and play in the biggest park in high school baseball, so if they can learn to hit gaps, they can run all day. Cookeville has quite a bit of experience returning from last year, but they lost some good players too. Overall, i believe the team chemistry will be better this year. Chaffin has brought some stability to the program after being the 4th different coach in 4 years. Seniors Tyler Farley (Walters St.) and Jeremy Hamm (Roane St) have already committed i have heard, and they also have Louisville Slugger Pre-Season 2nd Team All-America Bo Reeder making the move behind the plate this year. Blackman has a lot of talent returning too. Cooper can pitch the baseball, and i look for him to have a big year. Mitch Cox is fun to watch play shortstop, he is slick and has some quick hands. Kirkland Wheeler can absolutely crush the ball, and will hit his share of round-trippers this year. Siegel is strong in the pitching department this year, but maybe not as strong as last year. Tobitt will do an excellent job moving to short this season, and Reavis will have his boys ready to play when the time comes. They will hit the ball. Oakland is a great team and would win most districts in the state but i just don't see them knocking off Riverdale this season. Riverdale might not even have as much talent as Oakland, but i still see Oakland falling short of the district title. Polk is the best leadoff hitter in the district and probably the fastest player in the district. Barnes is the best pitcher in the district. Burnett is a good all-around player, as is Drew Fann. Riverdale will find a way to win it this year again. They have too many weapons in the arsenal. Hunter and Skinner may hit 15 hrs each this year, and they have a ton of other kids who can hit the baseball. Powers is possibly the best coach in the district. its between Powers or Reavis, in my book. Riverdale knows how to win. they find ways to end up on top and thats the main quality the district champ has to have. I have Powers winning Coach of the Year, Barnes winning Pitcher of the Year, and Hunter winning Player of the Year.
  7. I would pay money to see the Adamson vs. Johnson finals match. that could be a very good match. I have wrestled Jay and he's a very good wrestler. i didn't have the opportunity to wrestle Demetrius, but i watched him a few times and he really impressed me, also. watch out for Joe Proctor at 160 from Cookeville. young kid with a lot of talent, has a chance of placing this year. the kid works extremely hard, is quiet and just goes out and gets his work done.
  8. Coach Bray and Coach Hamm, you guys do a phenomenal job at what you do, whether it be coaching or ranking. Both of you have great programs at your respective schools, and i respect what you guys do. I have met both of you before (i actually have a Ridgeway Wrestling t-shirt that Cach Bray gave me) and you both are outstanding individuals. Coach Hamm, Is Trent Fink a senior this year? How is he doing? I am the guy he was wrestling two years ago at the Soddy Tourney when he broke his wrist or whatever, and i was just wondering how he was doing, cuz i haven't heard his name mentioned.
  9. he meant he helps out with the Cookeville Wrestling program. Tech does not have a club team, but it should. Just from some of the guys i know who go here, we could field a pretty good team. We have a few TN state medals here that i know of.
  10. i am coming from cookeville. i am planning to come through mcminnville and manchester, so i need directions from that way.
  11. Hey, TEK_9, its your little buddy. haha. hey, do you have directions to Tullahoma for tomorrow night? Does anyone have directions to Tullahoma's soccer field? is it behind the high school or am i imagining that? Thanks!
  12. We couldn't really get on Riverdale's guys too much, because they took us out of the game early in the second half. Riverdale's keeper was really cool, he laughed at us all night, and we talked to him after the game. he was a nice kid. i wish Riverdale luck against Shelbyville! we need a rematch with the Warriors next Thursday.
  13. The administration at the school that i attend has placed restrictions on the chants that our student section does. The people who go to my school will know which school i am referring to. We are no longer allowed to say "Nuts and bolts, nuts and bolts, we got screwed" after the refs make a bad call, and also now, after we've been doing it all season, last night we find out we cannot do "I'm blind, I'm deaf, I wanna be a ref" anymore because apparently its degrading (WHAT?!). this is ridiculous. come on, its called having fun and having a little bit of school spirit, which i guess we arent allowed to have any of that either. it doesnt matter what the student section is chanting, a good ref will not even listen to it, so who cares what we chant? we arent saying curse words, so there, in essence, is no problem. but however, for the rest of the season, we cannot have any more fun, apparently.
  14. These three teams were wrestling to break the district tie among them. does anyone know what went down, and who won, and like individual results if someone has them
  15. I am guessing that since tanner johnson dropped from 1 last time to 4 this time, coach B, that he lost, who did he lose to?
