  1. Like I said, I corrected my statement. It wasn't an apartment, it was the basement of a business. You have not heard/read me say that Goodpasture didn't recruit. They recruit just like everyone(and when I say everyone I am including 7A) does. It happens in the private sector as well as the public. By the way if you think that I believe that Gainesboro only has assisted living apartments, then I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell ya. I guess all the out of town players have moved out of the basement and into the assisted living apartments.
  2. I apologize about the Goodpasture statement it was from another poster. I will correct myself on the Jackson co thing. It wasn't an apartment, it was the basement of a business that they stayed in.
  3. Looks like I struck a nerve. You just confirmed my point. All schools in 7A recruit. There may not be tuition involved nor promises but it is done. How many girls on Clarkrange's team are from the Clarkrange community? I'm not for sure but I think only 1, I know 2 are from York and I from Crossville. What about the Heady girl that played a few years back, she's not Clarkrange born and raised. You need to stop whining about where Goodpasture gets their players from when it is done everywhere. You would have a better argument if you protested Goodpasture not being made to play with the private schools. By the way you must not have read my first post, if you had you would have know that I played 7A ball and so did my little darlings as well as their father. 7A runs deep in our blood but the truth is the truth.
  4. Ok I am going to resist the whole name calling thing, it is childish and not classy at all. On to the recruiting. Look at Jackson county girls there are several girls that "rent apartments" to go to school there. Clarkrange has more girls on the team that aren't from Clarkrange than are. Lamar starts recruiting in middle school. Pickett county boys start in middle school. Several get held back in elementary school so that they get another maturing year for high school. Some of the pickett county boys should be going to LA. There may be no comparison on recuriting when it comes to private vs public but it does happen in 7A this I promise you. I could give numbers and names of players but I won't stoop to that level and I don't think you would want to know either.
  5. I'm a 7A fan. I played there and my kids played there. There is just as much recruiting in 7A ball as there is in any private school. That's a fact. I live here. This goes on state wide it is the TSSAA's fault, it has went on for several years and now it is out of control. Big money and politics call the shots so don't look for any changes. This is sad. The kids are the losers.
  6. Eldridge isn't playing basketball at Tech. He is playing football and is a preferred walk on.
  7. Don't know what part of the state you are in but it has been a problem in the Upper Cumberland as well. Out of 5 calls we will get 3 charges when the defender was clearly not there. You are right the air born player has no protection. Officials need to go back to "class" on this as well as what is a blocked shot and a body foul. We have had a few do a great job on calling the blocks but most miss the call.
  8. Truthhurts 22 you must have not saw the Phillips kid lately. His attitude has done a 360. In my opinion his attitude (at this point) is no worse than some other kids int he district. Team standings in district shouldn't even play into MVP. Take Phillips and Ferrell of instance, they play a big role on their team as they have no help around them. Pickett and Monterey have both been in some close games this season. MVP should be a kid who contributes the most the his team along with stats, and attitude. Whatever your thoughts on this it will be a close race.
  9. If you strictly go by stats I would say Phillips MVP (he is leading the upper cumberland in scoring and assists and is 7th in rebounds) Ferrell, Hall, Siems, Key, Beaty on first team. I agree with jhdill Dawson is probably freshman of the year.
  10. My cousin said it was a close down went down to the wire. Monterey 49 Jackson 46 I think is what he said.
  11. Jared Phillips point guard at Monterey High (they are single A ). Leading in scoring and assists in the upper Cumberland. The kid gets around 21 ppg, 6 rpg, and 7 assists. He has been a starter for 4 years and is a great kid to watch play. Drives the ball and can shoot the 3.
