  1. Clayton Gant is the best player in the state. He can pitch, he can hit and he can field his position.
  2. The Grand Slam I was talking about was against Collierville @ USA Stadium on 4/4/07. He was also the winning pitcher. USA Classic at Millington USJ 11, Collierville 5 Collierville 211 001 0 - 5 12 3 USJ 300 053 x - 11 12 2 WP: Clayton Gant (5-1). L: Johnathan Jones. 2B: U -Preston Overbey. 3B: U - Josh Liles. HR: U - Gant (grand slam). Leading hitters: U - Danny Grimm 2-5, Will Glenn 3-5, Hunter Smith 2-3; C - Garmen 2-4, Perryman 2-5, Porter 2-4, Frazier 2-4. Record: U 19-3.
  3. Get your facts right!!!!! The Junior that you are talking about is only 17. It just kills me when some people pass on gossip for fact. /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> Anyway that 17 yr old junior hit a Grand Slam last night with an 0-2 count and two outs. imo that's worth talking about, not his or anyone else's age. This is a sports forum not a birthday forum
  4. Spencer Nelson is a great pitcher. I would put Spencer & Clayton on the same level. They are both great pitchers, with different styles.
  5. Just curious.....when will the all-state team be announced?
  6. Gant is tearing it up at the plate and off the mound. I believe his record off the mound is 7-0. thumb Yes he is a freshman. He just turned 16 yesterday, 4/27/05. He is a 5 tool baseball player. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLAYTON.
  7. Go Bruins!!!! Get Well Hunter!!!! Lets play some D and have a good game
  8. USJ did make some errors, but I think some of them could be blamed on the sun. It was setting in the face of the first baseman the whole first few innings of the game. USJ always has a few good innings, as far as hittings goes. Last night was no exception. thumb
  9. It was a messy day for a ball game. Cold and wet. But the USJ Bruins came out to play ball. Final score 14-4. The Lexington Tigers started out well matching the Bruins run for run, but with Clayton Gant on the mound it didn't last long. Gant got stronger as the game went on. He was pitching on only 3 days rest. The Bruins defense was in top form tonight. I don't think an error was made. WAY TO GO GUYS!!!!! GET WELL SOON HUNTER!!!! thumb
  10. I keep the books for my 12 year olds travel team. I know the difference between an error and a hit. If you boost your own childs batting average or ERA (pitchers) you are not helping your child. You are giving them a false sense of the game. To all you parents that keep an honest book, congrats. Most people don't like to keep score, so that leaves very few that will.
  11. USJ- 22 thumb Ripley- 4
  12. This kid started playing for USJ in the 8th grade. What team could he have played for, that would have been USJ's competition? Private schools do not and cannot offer scholarships to athletes.
  13. Well believe it. He was throwing 86mph when he was 14. I saw the gun.
  14. Well put tricklician. I know the family would just like to get on with the game As we all would. Now lets......PLAY BALL
  15. I couldn't agree more. I heard that Saturday in an innersquad scrimmage he registered 88 mph on the gun thumb not bad for a 15 year old freshman
  16. It's about time and way past due. Coach Dyer is a great coach and more importantly a great person. He would never do anything, intentionally, to hurt the USJ baseball team, the players or the school. WELCOME BACK COACH DYER WE MISSED YOU thumb
  17. Congrats to Jonathan. Keep working hard and it'll pay off in the end thumb
  18. Just to add to necvol's credibility, I also am aware of the discussion about possibly getting other student to ride with coach Dyer. To change the perception of whoever is doing this complaining. Coach Dyer has made several attempts to offer his ride to other USJ students. Their carpools are already working out, so they see no need to change. But the offer still stands, from Coach Dyer. It has been in place for some time. This "suggestion" came fro m the T$$AA after the letter telling him to stop. He was told he could drive the student as long as he tried to get other students, that were not athletes, to ride along. This "suggestion" came from the T$$AA.
  19. Let me just say, that is the most ignorant statement I think I have read since this discussion started. Do you not know that people everywhere carpool for the shear convenience of it. Also, the coach was not acting in the capacity of a coach, but friend of the family of the student. Nothing more. If all the parents of the state were told they were the only ones that were allowed to transport their children to school the enrollement in several schools would drastically change. People have the right to decide who their kids ride to school with. The T$$AA has no right to make up rules as they go along. If one family has to adhere to this rule, because of someone's perception then so should all families.
