  1. For the life of me I can not understand why you would do this? I like when people make predictions on the out come of a game but to just make a list of losers, are you kidding me? Softball is a team sport and as Parents/Coaches/Fans you are suppose to encourage them to never give up and you NEVER EVER try to beat a kids spirit down and tell them they can't. You making this losers list is doing just that. If you are a true fan of the game you would stop.
  2. If you??™re the best you should win regardless who you are drawn to play. Sure everyone would rather have a cushion first game but if you are good enough to win the championship game against the #1 team then you should be good enough to win against that them in the first round. No room for error in the big dance. You have to bring your A game every time you step on the court.
  3. I was setting at half court and I could see what happened. When the ball was blocked it came down on Kayla and when both players were going after the ball the Central player hit Kayla in the face. It wasn't intentional just part of the game. There were fouls that weren't called but on both ends. It was something that happened in a highly charged game, nothing more. I will say this about Upperman's season and post season play, I think it is really unfair how Karissa Dyer gets beat up under the goal every game and the refs over look it. Not just in this game it seems like it's every game. It is almost like they over look it because she is tall. I know that is part of the game but it is really unfair to her.
  4. I understand your point because she is a great player but I didn't want to lessen the effort by both teams by the what if's. This was a match up of two great teams, plain and simple. I hate that they met in Sub State instead of the final game. Good luck to the Central. Watch out for LA they are a tough team.
  5. What a game! The round house was rocking! Two very talented teams that fought till the very end. I will have to say the sportsmanship and respect on this board is amazing. We knew McMinn Central was tough coming into this and Central fans have given Upperman the credit they deserve. It was tied at the end of all 3 quarters, which is just amazing! It came down to about the last 2 min when Lambert, who is a great player, tied it with the 3. Then with 1:17 on the clock Central was up by 2.It didn??™t come down to one team being more conditioned than the other or ???running??? Upperman down, it came down to last minute fouls that put the score up by 8. I will have to say good job to the girl who sunk all six free throws at the end for Central that had to be a lot of pressure. Anyone who says they knew their team was going to win was lying. This was a game that came down to the wire because it was two great teams playing, plain and simple. I heard the guys behind me for the radio talking about how fast Upperman was and they never expected that, they kept saying it over & over. Then someone said Lashay missed two free throws in a row because she looked weak in the legs, which may have had to do with the reason she was shooting free throws, she was just slammed to the floor. I have played every sport possible and I have never seen a girl with as much endurance as Lashay Davis. She is a Miss Basketball nominee for a reason. That girl could run all night she is a very outstanding player. 92Charger, you said this game wouldn??™t have been as close if Gaby had been in the whole game? That would be like me saying If 3 of the Upperman starters weren??™t fighting this virus bug that closed down Putnam Co. schools Friday that this game would have turned out different, I wouldn??™t even try to say that. I have read a lot about Central and I??™m sure it hurt not having her but that is just crazy to say stuff like that so lets not go there. This was a game that should have been a state final match up and I hate that their meeting didn??™t happen in the Boro. Congratulations to the Chargers and good luck down the road. Watch out for LA, they are a better team than their record shows. Upperman had a great season and so much to be proud of!
  6. Upset of the YEAR, this is such a big win for these girls! PC girls have a lot of heart! Congratulations Lady Bobcats!

LA has a very solid team this year, young but solid. Senior Kendra Kilgore will lead the pack but the freshman and sophomores of this team will help make the difference. Very good pitching & catching lineup, smart and quick base runners, but the difference this year will be strength &diversity in the box. I??™m very excited for the Lady Wildcats this year. Upperman has a new key player this year with Olivia Gore, her pitching will make a difference in the Upperman team. They will be lead by junior Alyson Roberts who is a leader & a standout softball player. I have a niece on both Upperman & LA so I will definitely be pulling for both these teams in 7AA.
  8. I have known Big John and his family for years and you can??™t get much better than the Miller family. Someone was talking about how this could jeopardize his coaching career??¦..First off even after this incident, I would with out a doubt be honored for big John to coach either one of my kids. John has also coached softball for the last three or four years and in those last few years he has by FAR been the ???Pease Maker??? of the team. I have seen him defuse parents, make the girls laugh in an awkward situation, and make everyone around him feel at ease when things are rough. I have witnessed coaches from other teams cuss and fuss with his team and Big John would always walk away. I have seen John walk away from situations I don??™t think I could have walked away from. So, in all honesty, I don??™t need to hear anything else about this story. I know this man had to push John beyond the breaking point. Even on top of that, what woman/mother would jump a 14 year old girl? I guess that tells me what kind of people John was dealing with that day. I hope all goes well for the Miller family, they are in my prayers.
  9. Alyson Roberts is one of the best athletes I have ever coached! She is all hustle, tough player, never backs down from anyone & she is a big cut up too...I love this kid! I haven't been to any of the game this year because of work but I will be there tomorrow. This whole team has a great vibe about them.... they get things done. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

  11. Oh me??¦.. oldcoach where do I begin? First, who could blame Amy for not feeling ???loyalty??? to a school that didn??™t have her back & say ???No, we really need her in our school & on the field???? I don??™t think it??™s about being bitter it??™s about not letting people run over you and not appreciate you then you turn around and the same people expect you to still help them??¦. I sure wouldn??™t do it. Second, you can set back all you want & say ???it??™s ashamed that people don??™t have loyalty to their school?????¦.blah, blah, blah. You can look from the stands all you want but the BOTTOM LINE is when it??™s your kid??¦.you will do what??™s best for them. I have heard so many people say ???Oh I would never move my kids because of sports??? but when it??™s your kids eyes looking @ you telling you how unhappy they are??¦.you would walk through fire for them! A move to another school/county is minor compared to what I would go through for my kid. So EVERYONE can set back & say I would or wouldn??™t do this but the fact of the matter is you DON??™T know what you would do until you??™re in that situation.
  12. Great Post! Half of the parents who complain have never played enough ball to know what they are even talking about! The other half try to live their youth through their kids. Those are the fans/parents who kill me! I'm 30 now & remember when I was in school my mother never said more than hi & social talk to my coach. It's a different age now, kids get these bad habits from parents. Also, coaches don't have the principals who stood behind them in their decisions...now one complaint from a parent about "little Suzy being emotional scared cause coach didn't play her" & everyone is out to get them fired. Your school board & Principal need to believe & have faith in who they have coaching. In my area I have 3 travel teams that I over see but I have different coaches in each age group. My biggest thing before a kid plays for me is that they understand MY terms. I hold the first practice with each team, I set the kids down with the parents that way there is no confusion. My number one rule is.... there is only one Queen Bee and that is me. We love to hear parents cheer but when the kids are on the field they are to listen to me(or coach) or they will have a one way ticket to the bench. Parents can hoot & holler all they want but don't tell your kid to do something on the field (other than watch the ball & that kind of stuff). Parents & players are to never get into it with the umps or other teams....that's what your coaches are for (some people will make a complete #### if you allow them to). I WILL talk to any parent about their kid like how to get better, what to practice on and so on but I will absolutely not talk about playing time or game strategy. So far that has worked for me going on 9 yrs now.
  13. I agree this is the stupidest rule ever enforced in TSSAA Softball! There are so many little stipulations to what you can & can't do. The stupidest thing is that a lot of it applies to ???future??? players(in coming freshman)??¦.how do you know who will make the team? This really hurts the fast pitch program because Spring/Summer is the season for softball. Softball doesn't have a full season anymore because Basketball has become a year round sport & that takes a lot of our girls who wants to play both sports and makes them choose. TSSAA should let us play in our Season??¦.if they want to crack down on something look at cutting time on Basketball!
  14. We are in the Cookeville/Livingston area. All of our girls play school ball with different high schools. I think this girl is going to play but if it falls through I will give you a call. I hope you find a team.
  15. I have 3 girls that are interested right now but one that has come to see me. I'm not saying the spot is filled until I know for sure this girl is going to play. I received a few voice mails yesterday....were you the 615 #? Where are you located?
  16. 16U Ultimate Crush has unfortunately lost two players to AAU and we are looking for two utility players to fill the spots. We have players from all over the Upper Cumberland area. If you are interested contact me at 931-397-2863. Leave a message
  17. I'm not a big fan of parker either but this is not the place to talk about it. If your going to talk about this take it to the Middle School board.
  18. My point exactly...why take a chance? You can't work on any "game situations" with your HS players so why waist the other girls time with "non game situation" practice? They are getting plenty of practice with the HS team anyway.
  19. Thx, I found the list. Do you think there is a benefit to being a TMSAA member? If your in the TMSAA do you have districts & state tournaments?
  20. Easy trigger! I'm not bashing kids playing with travel teams because I have a travel team myself. I made sure I put in my post that I have heard so many different situations, been told different things by everyone & read the rules but there was still a grey area for me. There are fine lines/gray areas(whatever you wan to call it) whether you want to admit it or not. TSSAA prohibits playing scrimmages, practice games, or games with an independent (rec or travel) team. Ok??¦ Like what do you/me/coach/whoever vs. TSSAA consider game situation? Everyone is different when they interpret the rules of any game. As far as reading the rules that were posted before??¦I did. They all say the same thing but you have three or four different people interpret it different & telling their take on it. It??™s kind of like when people read the bible & see it different. Christians for example??¦most all Christians believe the same with an exception of a few details. They interpret little things different & that??™s why we have different denominations. See where I??™m going here? Am I calling you an idiot because you used AAU vs. HS softball as an example? No, I??™m not. I??™m sure you have read the rules enough to know why softball and AAU playing at the same time doesn??™t matter. But if other people don??™t completely understand the fine line/grey area of the practice the same sport with a travel team while playing high school ball rule ??¦we are idiots??? You can play HS softball & AAU basketball at the same time just like boys football overlaps basketball and basketball overlaps baseball but the players are on both rosters at the same time??¦.it??™s not the same sport. Girl??™s basketball players couldn??™t try out for an AAU team until their season was over because it is the same sport. I??™m sure your going to come back with game situations are easy to understand or everyone is wrong if they don??™t read the rules stated. Just my opinion of course but if you take game situations out of softball practice then you just have hitting/catching/running. Aren??™t they getting plenty of that at the high school level? I stated what I was told??¦.right or wrong I heard it from the office of TSSAA. I will take that for what it??™s worth. You know it may be like I said, people may not understand the grey areas & TSSAA may just tell people to be safe & not practice till HS ball is over. I don??™t know what the case is. I know how I feel about my HS girls practicing with another team??¦.why risk it because they are getting plenty of practice anyway.
  21. I agree with you completely. There are too many ifs, ands or buts to risk it. I would not want to risk a HS season over a practice with a travel team & it's not like they aren't getting plenty of practice being on the HS team anyway. As a HS coach I would not want any of my girls to risk it either. About the official ruling...I have a friend that is a niece to one of the directors in TSSAA & we were talking about this one day & she told me to call a certain guy and find out for sure. When I talked to him he told me that if you are registered (being on a roster) with TSSAA that you can not practice or anything with another organized sport or you would be deemed ineligible for your HS team. I'm sure there is a fine line with the do's & don??™ts and maybe they just say "not to practice" because there are so many different situations. I know everyone has their own interpretations about it but I'm going with what I heard directly just to be safe. I didn??™t even think about grade school softball...does it fall under TSSAA sanction too? Does anyone know for sure?
  22. Hey, I??™m with you 100%. I was told that they were double header district games buy a Upperman fan but when I asked Coach T about the rankings being wrong I was told that the second game that Upperman won was a JV game & that Upperman/Cannon was scheduled for a game later in the season. They added the score to the schedule but didn't count it against Cannon as losing in the district. I just assumed what I was told was wrong and Coach T had the inside scoop. Correction.... 1. Cannon County 4-1 2. Dekalb County 3-1 2. Upperman 3-1 4. Macon County 2-0 5. Livingston 1-3 6. Smith County 0-3 7. York 0-4
  23. When the pitcher has control in the circle. The pitcher has roughly about 10 seconds( it has been generous with most umps) to deliver the pitch & the batter has about the same time to get in the box after the pitcher has taken control in teh circle. I think it will help move the game along.
  24. Macon County is undefeated in the district so far but they only have 2 district games showing. They aren't in first place just because they haven't been beat. You have to go by games played. Cannon co. should be 4-0 because I think the lose you are counting was to Upperman in a JV game. 1. Cannon County 4-0 2. Dekalb County 3-1 2. Upperman 3-1 4. Macon County 2-0 5. Livingston 1-3 6. Smith County 0-3 7. York 0-4
