  1. prob be a good game... it has been a great rivalry since Graham Clark has been at DB Clark actually has a 12-9 record against the Wildcats.. and is 6-4 at THE SHIP Last year was 17-14 OR - and my guess is DB is much better on the defensive side this year vs last season. Indians have an experienced QB now - witch was no experience in last year's game. Of course... OR has a great tailback that didn't play more than 1 or 2 plays in last years game. It will be worth the price of admission
  2. For those that support the Tribe... A scrimmage Friday at J. Fred at 6PM and some answers to your questions will be seen - for those that do nothing but complain and bi-atch about the Indians... you ain't coming and you can shove it Roll Tribe
  3. DB has a a tough schedule. I rate it 2nd toughest out of the Region 1 6A Teams. Maryville rates #1 with non region games that include Fulton and Alcoa. DB has Oak Ridge and Sevier County besides the Tennessee Vilings as non Region games. Happy 4th of July Roll Tribe Roll
  4. NO. Season Opener is a Friday Night. DB has played most Season opening Home Games (for the last 15 yrs or so) on Thursday because of Bristol Race Week. But not this year. I don't think the Bristol Race has enough of a crowd anymore to make a difference in the DB Home crowd. 49 days till KO Roll Tribe Roll
  5. Big Bill Duff Day - 50 Days to HS Football!! Roll Tribe
  6. is dead period this week and next or next week and the next. Seems dead right now
  7. THAT'S A BUNCH OF CRAP - from people who never go to a darn game or have a clue about DB Sports .... look at the decade of 5A - Dobyns-Bennett didn't play any local teams other than Science Hill and TOTALLY DOMINATED that Decade. District oppenents: Sevier County, Science Hill, Jefferson Co., Bearden, Karns, Campbell Co. a few years with William Blount, a few with Morristown East. Also, a Final 4 playoff year in '92, and 2 Final 8's. The best DB Teams ever, played when they didn't play North East TN Schools. Period 8 Friday Nights from today and it's Football Time at DB!!
  8. started putting in a play or 2 for TE last season. Carter Holt is a promising TE with great size. Very good athlete and a good kid
  9. 60 DAYS to Season Opener vs TN High. Everything starts with a returning Sr. QB - which is much better than where the season started last year.... a QB with no game experience starting opening game. #6 Maupin is a tough, hard nosed competitor. Most all defense is back - veteran LB's and DB's Corps. Upfront will be improved both sides of the ball. Gotta find a tailback or 2. Will have a new kicker. Band is going to be a dandy. Roll Tribe
  10. Some Key returning players for Dobyns-Bennett - Improved size will help in playing the big boys of 6A Football QB - Cole Maupin LB - Ivan Phillips LB - Jacob Roller LB - James Buchanon LB - Isaiah Jayne DB - Bryce Barrett DB - Quinten Polinski DB - Reece Cornett OL/DL - Dawson Pierson OL - Jordan Malone TE/DL - Carter Holt RB - Reece Cornett WR - Caleb Whetsell WR - Matt Diminick Roll Tribe Roll
  11. I only have the teams from last year to go on with that... really. Beat those Pats. DB and Jeff County do not play well together. They didn't like loosing to the Indians every single game during 5-A District 1 and it was obvious to everyone that they took cheap shot after cheap shot in those games. So they finally got 1 victory over DB in football last year... will prob. be the last one
  12. My pics for finish of order Maryville 7-0 (even better than last year) Bradley Central 6-1 (QB Copeland POY) Dobyns-Bennett 5-2 (much improved) Science Hill 4-3 Bearden 3-4 Hardin Valley 2-5 Jeff Co.1-6 William Blount 0-7
  13. is CC Campbell County? I can't believe it either. In the old days of 5-A Football - DB shut them out almost every game they played and never gave up more than 1 score. DB VS OAK RIDGE - that could be a good game week 2 Indians will be much improved over last season... maybe we give the Wildcats a game
  14. FOLLOW UP TO COTY SENSABAUGH's FOOTBALL CAMP LASTWEEKEND KINGSPORT – Coty Sensabaugh was watching on television when the NFL’s St. Louis Rams announced they were moving back to Los Angeles. Little did Sensabaugh realize, he would be soon be headed west as well. “My wife Dominique and I saw the news of the Rams’ move and I was like, ‘Man, I’d hate to be one of those guys, picking up and moving across the country,’†said Sensabaugh. “Then a couple of months later, I’m an L.A. Ram.†The Kingsport native and former Dobyns-Bennett Indian had been with the Tennessee Titans all for years of his NFL career after being drafted out of Clemson in the fourth round of the 2012 draft. Sensabaugh played in 59 games for the Titans and notched 27 starts. In a full-time starting role for the first time in 2015, Sensabaugh notched his first career interception in Tennessee’s season-opening win in Tampa Bay. Sensabaugh’s pick-six came on the first career pass attempt by Buccaneer quarterback Jameis Winston. A second interception came five weeks later against the Miami Dolphins. In March of this year, however, Sensabaugh found himself an unrestricted free agent. It was a buyer’s market for cornerbacks with a number of talented players weighing their options. After five days and overtures from the Dolphins, Giants, Seahawks and Bears, Sensabaugh signed a three-year contract with the Rams. The deal is worth nearly $15 million with another $4 million in incentives. ROLL TRIBE ROLL
  15. COTY SENSABUAGH back at J. Fred Johnson Stadium this past weekend for his football camp. The new LA Ram just signed a $16M contract. DB PROUD!
  16. DB VS OAK RIDGE is as good a football rivalry as their is... and without question my favorite DB Rivalry. It almost always comes down to the last possession. i have seen some classics in THE SHIP... expect another one 80 days Roll Tribe Roll
  17. IT'S A GOOD HIRE D-B Grad Larry Shively Named New KCS Director of Athletics Larry Shively by STEVE WILMOTH TriCitiesSports.com May 24, 2016 KINGSPORT, TN. – A Dobyns-Bennett grad who returned home last year as been named as the new Director of Athletics for Kingsport City Schools. The appointment of Larry Shively was made official by Superintendent Dr. Lyle Aishie in press release on Tuesday. "I am so grateful for the leadership of Dr. Lyle Ailshie, the entire Kingsport City School leadership team, and the KCS School Board for entrusting me with this wonderful opportunity to serve and lead,†said Shively. â€I am honored, blessed, and humbled to lead and serve the student-athletes and coaches of Kingsport City Schools.†Shively graduated from Dobyns-Bennett in 1992 and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in history from the University of Tennessee in 1997. Shively also earned a Master of Secondary Education Degree from Milligan in 1998. Shively had taught social studies and history for 19 years in the classroom and started his coaching career as an assistant football and baseball coach at Shelbyville Central High School. Shively was an assistant coach at Science Hill High School from 1999 to 2009 and was head coach at Happy Valley from 2010-14 before resigning in June 2015 to return to Dobyns-Bennett in a teaching capacity. Shively and his wife Misty have two children, Sara and Trey. “We are excited that Larry will bring his extensive athletic experience and passion to this leadership role for Kingsport City Schools,†said Dr. Ailshie in an official statement included in the release. “In selecting an individual to oversee not only Dobyns-Bennett High School athletics, but also guide athletic programming for the entire district, it was critical to find the person with the right combination of knowledge, skill, desire, and innovation. As a D-B graduate with a long history of athletic leadership and a strong desire to take our programs to the next level, we feel that Larry is the right individual for this exciting task and will unify our entire community around the vision of having a world-class athletic program.†Shively had been slated to fill a spot on Graham Clark’s Indian football staff for the 2016 season and now takes over a tradition rich athletic program at Dobyns-Bennett that boasts the nation’s winningest high school baseball team, second winningest high school boys’ basketball team and the state of Tennessee’s winningest high school football program. “We have a proud and unrivaled tradition of success in our school system of producing championship level athletes and teams that are recognized nationally,†continued Shively. “I look forward to serving the Athletic Program, and leading our teams to even greater heights. “We strive to provide our coaches and athletes the resources to continue their world class experience in Kingsport and beyond. Our student-athletes deserve the very best, and I am confident our community will rise to the occasion. This will take a collaborative effort from the students, faculty, businesses and industries, and alumni.†In addition to the duties at the high school, Shively will be tasked with responsibilities for oversight, coordination and direction of all district athletic programming. “The Athletic Department will vertically align our youth leagues, middle schools and Dobyns-Bennett to our overall vision of creating an educationally based athletic experience that is second to none,†Shively explained. “We desire ‘all of our arrows pointed in the same direction’ in order to produce champions on and off the field.†Shively also sees the athletic department as a compliment to the educational mission of the Kingsport City School System. “We believe that athletics and activities are inherently educational,†added Shively. “The courts and fields are extensions of our classrooms. Our goal is to develop the whole person and help develop the character of our young athletes. Our coaches will be charged with coaching as if their son or daughter is in the program and to provide them every opportunity to learn and grow as competitors.†Shively will also be a champion of promoting the success, achievements, sportsmanship and community service of all current and former KCS student-athletes. “The Athletic Department will relentlessly promote our school, our brand, and the accomplishments of our athletes. We want to tell our story. Former high achieving players, coaches and teams will be celebrated. Once an Indian, Always an Indian! Roll Tribe!â€

  20. Big Indian - you are right on. Last season - the Indians were 4-1 ... had beaten Sevier County on the Road (5A State Runner Up), was driving to beat a powerful Oak Ridge team in the last min. of the game... tragedy struck and the team didn't win another game. Nothing looked like DB Football until the effort to against the team for JC. With a load of returning starters, including Maupin at QB - the Tribe will rise again Team #96 Roll Tribe Roll
