  1. The last reporting cycle, 2018, the largest 3A school was 850. UHS was 720 and not in the top ten largest 3A schools. Not that it's not possible, but it's not probable that they would grow nearly 20% in two years and surpass several other schools. All bets are off though if the cutoff changes.
  2. Odd there hasn't been any U vs LA chatter. Talking bout MS teams, Upperman Middle has shut it down for a couple of weeks due to a positive test.
  3. Smith looked like they're still working on implementing their offense. Went to the wrist bands pretty much every play. If they get some things figured out, they could be a tough out. They have good size, the QB spins it pretty well, and #35 is a player on both sides of the ball. It's still early, but wouldn't be surprised if they finished top two in the region even with a rough start.
  4. Other than GC/YAI, no chatter for the first week of region games. Games are: GC @ YAI CC @ Squatch U @ Smith How do these shake out?
  5. Worst one might be Pickett County to Jo Byrns. At least 3 hrs on a school bus. Are there any other region teams so far apart?
  6. If they play tonight, and you go, I expect a detailed breakdown on York lol.
  7. Tough to replace a Mr. Football finalist, even tougher without any off season. Are you guys looking for one to step and be "the man", or is it a two QB system by design? Pretty sure the Indians still make their bones on defense anyways. Been that way at least since I lived there 20+ years ago.
  8. He graduated. They're actually playing two, a SR and a JR. Both have their strengths and there hasn't been enough separation to stick with one. I kinda like how they're being used though. They may eventually settle on one, but I believe they can win with two.
  9. Right there with you. With the run to the 4A quarters last year and what they have back, I felt like DeKalb was the favorite. But the script was flipped a little bit. Upperman made more splash plays scoring from 42, 58, and I believe the KO return was 70+ yards, DeKalb drove the ball more. I thought those roles would have been the other way around. Both teams missed some opportunities, but I believe DeKalb missed more, #5 is definitely a player. Still got everything in front of you, but looks like it could be a dog fight with you guys, LA, MC, and SM in the region. Still don't know about CC, but they seem to be more competitive this year. Good luck the rest of the way.
  10. The JR class is solid. All of the TD';s tonight were JR's and So's. They have some good seniors, but there's only eight of them. #34 has lined up in the backfield us an up back a good bit, but I don't think he has gotten a carry in the first two games. He's been great on D though. He's a JR. They also started a FR on the D line and he did well.
