  1. You have to think Greenville is the favorite considering what they did last year. I am unaware of what they lost, but I believe they were relatively young. White House is another team that is primed for a run this year. Pre-season all-American Maddie Davis has a solid core around here that makes them tough to beat. I think these two teams are a head above the rest at this point in the season. Other teams to note: Beech High School looks solid early on. I know Coach Cook likes his team this year. Strong back line with some serious attitude. White House Heritage is lurking as well with a top notch Freshman and Sophomore class. Not sure they are ready considering how young they are though. Experience could easily get them. Fairview had a decent team last year. I do not know what they have this year but they should win their district pretty easily. The White House, Beech, White House Heritage district should make some noise in the state tournament. Two of these teams will cause some fuss. Prediction: Greeneville repeats I do not know enough about the West Tennessee teams as they usually do not cause a racket in the state tournament in the lower classifications.
  2. CAK, Greeneville, and Page are locks. CPA looks to have a small edge, but should be the best game of the quarterfinal matches. I like CAK to win it all, like most people do, but both and CPA/Central winner could make it interesting.
  3. That's the way the play looked to me as well. 50/50, forward gets there a step first before the goalie, heads in it, and both players momentum made them collide. The game would have been 2-0 but still in the first half. There would have still been lots of soccer to play. Once again, congrats and good luck to you all.
  4. What a game between Heritage and Hume-Fogg. Heritage started strong. Should have certainly been up 2-0 after the ball was pulled out of the net on a phantom call. That's the way the ball rolls sometimes. Credit to Hume-Fogg for battling back. Take absolutely nothing away from this group. Forward laces a shot upper ninety from about 25 yards out to tie it up with about 10-15 minutes left. #11 for Heritage is quite the player. He put the team on his back tonight and almost pulled one out for them. Sad to see either of these sides go home, but take nothing away from Hume-Fogg. Good luck to the Knights going forward. They have a class act for a coach and it shows it their play.
  5. Well said. Should be an exciting match. Good luck to ya!
  6. Addendum: unless the game is tied when the game is called. Hume-Fogg and MLK are finishing their overtime today because they are still tied.
  7. TSSAA rules state that once a game is suspended in the second half, if the game can not be resumed that date, then the game is complete. Take nothing away from Meroll Hyde, but the real loser here is the team that won their district and has to play Central Magnet. Yikes!
  8. This is very true. I am certainly not saying they are not a top team; they just have not played the top-end talent for us to know, yet. They could be a team to compete against.
  9. White House: 4 Sycamore: 1 WH-Heritage: 9 Cheatham Co: 2 Both White House teams advance to regions.
  10. This argument is nauseating. TSSAA clearly saw a problem with it; thus, the change is coming. 2017-18 soccer calendar can not get here soon enough. I am looking much more forward to hearing the conversation stop, rather than getting the privates out.
  11. I don't see much of an issue getting out of districts. Spring Hill seems down this year. Nolensville is a few years away from making noise. Giles Co. is fielding half soccer players and have football players this year. Clear cut Page and CPA finals. Region looks to be Fairview and Montgomery Central. Sub-state should pose your first true test.
  12. Agreed. Building consistent programs start at the top. Many coaches concede that their talent is not as good as some of the perennial powers and, therefore, set their teams up for mediocrity. I know White House's coach started the program back in the 90s playing co-ed and has pushed through the hard times to get to the success he is having today. Talent is surely a key piece of the puzzle; however, there are so many intangibles that can be breed into a program to bridge the talent gap. That starts with the coach. Some coaches need to put their tissues away and start coaching their boys up or accept the butt kickings they take year after year. Congrats on a magical season and I'll be rooting for you all from afar to make the Spring Fling. Best of luck out there in the Wild, Wild East.
  13. I'm glad you were a good sport about this. Your team always plays well in the postseason. That is a true testament of the programs you have ran at both CAK and CPA.
  14. I've witnessed a slew of A/AA teams beat AAA teams this year. The field seems to be much deeper than previous years. Here's a laundry list of A/AA teams I've gathered that have proven themselves to be solid squads: The Regulars: 1. CAK 2. CPA 3. CCS 3. White House 4. Notre Dame 5. Knox Catholic Recent year regulars: 1. Page 2. Hume-Fogg 3. Greenville 4. Central Magnet 5. WH-Heritage 6. MLK 7. Lipscomb Academy 8. Merrol Hyde 2017 Qualities: 1. Alcoa 2. Loudon 3. Boyd 4. Stratford 5. Fairview 6. Sycamore 7. Harpeth Thoughts on this being the deepest A/AA since the merger? Spring fling predictions? Middle Tennessee sub-states and East sub-states should be high-quality matches.
  15. Hmmm....list seems a bit inaccurate. Boyd is way overrated and the best team on Fairview's schedule has been Harpeth and they tied them at the beginning of the year. No offense to your side Coach G, but due to recent results I would say CPA should have dropped a bit. Certainly still a top ten team (I'd say 5th), but not third. Glad to see Loudon getting some love. Loudon is a strong side. They have a center mid (#7 I believe) that is a special talent and should be an all-state nominee. They will give Central Magnet all they want if they meet in a sub-state game. Confused on where WH-Heritage is and how Alcoa is just now being recognized. Heritage recently beat Loudon 2-1 in a thriller and lost a close one to White House (#6 on list). Alcoa is loaded with athleticism and speed. They are crushing some strong sides. Personally, I feel these lists are a bit based on prior traditions rather than current talent. I know coaches vote on this stuff, but maybe they lose sight on current form over tradition. Time will certainly tell. Spring fling is right around the corner.
  16. Someone voting on these rankings better take note of Stratford HS. Saw them play tonight and their athleticism is unreal. Most definitely a top ten team in the state and, in my opinion, the best team in their district (which includes Hume-Fogg, LA, and MLK).
  17. Any word on when the new rankings will be up? This past week should provide quite a shake up.
  18. Anything know about Greenville boys this year? They seemed to be youthful last year in the state tourney. Lots of speed up front. White House teams are not too shabby. I know White House looked strong against Father Ryan last night and Heritage has yet to have a scrimmage, but hearing good things coming from their camp. Going on a limb: Public wins it this year.
  19. White House over Jackson Christian Greeneville over ND CCS over Madison The toughest pick: yikes....I'll take CPA over Grace
  20. Agreed. In my opinion, WH may be the 3rd or 4th best team in the state behind Greenville, CCS, and lump ND, WH, and Grace Academy together. I also agree that Page is a top eight team and deserves to go, but, like you said, top 8 teams isn't the pedigree to get to state. Last year was a perfect case when Page, CPA, WH, and Heritage were all too 8 teams and only two went. Not faulting TSSAA, but that section of the bracket's sub-state winners certainly always belong in the Spring Fling.
