  1. This is the correct Region schedule Region 7A Tournament Thursday, 2/26 Lake Co. at West Carroll Huntingdon at Humboldt Clarksburg at Bradford Gleason at McKenzie Saturday, 2/28 (at Huntingdon) LC/WC vs. Huntingdon/Humboldt Clarksburg/Bradford vs. Gleason/McKenzie Tuesday, 3/3 (at Huntingdon) - Championship
  2. After seeing West Carroll play most of the season, I think they match up much better against Lake County then they did Gleason. I think they played their best ball against teams that are more "run" teams than Gleason's control the tempo type. ie: They played Milan down to the wire two times this season....the same team that beat Humboldt twice. I think it will be an interesting game!
  3. 1. West Carroll 2. McKenzie 3. Bruceton 4. Huntingdon 5. Big Sandy 6. Clarksburg 7. Carroll Academy I think that Huntingdon would of been higher but heard they lost a key player during the summer. I don't think Clarksburg had anything returning. I saw both McKenzie and West Carroll play at the Martin Westview play day. West Carroll is very, very quick, and fundamental. No real size but looked pretty sound. McKenzie was not as polished as WC the day I saw them, but I predict they will improve over the season, seem to have a very young team.
  4. If I remember correctly West Carroll Girls beat Gleason in the regional tournament last year.
  5. This game was rescheduled to Jan. 19th because of McKenzie still being in football playoffs!
  6. West Carroll is in District 13 A that is not suppose to be able to beat anyone in 14 A but has already beaten 2 of the top 4 "projected" teams. Congrats to them and their fine coach!
  7. I'm thinking one way to work out the Regionals to give the higher seed an advantage in the first game is hold the first round of the Regionals at the same place the higher seeds District tournament was held. The team that has just played on that court, and should be more comfortable with it then moving on to different site, plus you could play two games at both places so that the fans would get more bang for their buck too!
  8. Clarksburg has some pretty good ball handlers, unless you get the Grant girl agitated. She just seems to quit if that happens. Also, the Clarksburg beating West Carroll by 16 is kinda misleading. West Carroll led the whole game till the last 1:37, then when Clarksburg took the lead, they went in to stall, WC had to foul, and Clarksburg made the shots. Definitely not a blowaway!
  9. I agree that Randy Frazier is a great coach....and for that reason alone, I know he doesn't want to travel to Bruceton (Hard to beat on their own court), or to the crackerbox they call a gym at Clarksburg. Anything can happen at either place!!
  10. I have seen Brittany Luther play since her very first jr. high game. She is currently a junior at WCHS, and has started varsity since her freshmen year. She is a about 5' 9", and plays the post. I can vouch that every one of her points and rebounds are scored in official season games. She is a work horse! Deserves all she gets! Congrats to you Brit!! Edit: Brittany did move up to high school ball after the jr. high season, but not sure about playing time! I guess I'm getting too old! I'm sure those points scored after jr. high - did count toward her 1000.
  11. Maybe it wasn't that they ran out of gas, but perhaps the coach does not know his personel well enough.
  12. Also, back in the Mid to Late 70's, there was a girl from Loretta, I think her name was Jennifer White. She went on to play at Lousania Tech. Great Player! Debbie Joyner from Trezevant, was possibly one of the best of the six on six era too. If I am not mistaken, she was the first 8th grader to start in a state tournament, and I know they won two, should of been three championships during her reign.
