  1. No, I’m only trying to compare Republic and Glencliff. Since that’s always the only team mentioned all the time. You could say the same with Overton you did with franklin though. They have had some really good years the past 4 years. No way to really know they would be down. McGavock is always a question mark and regardless they are 5-3 with some really explosive players. Not sure why NorthWest is there but that WR I saw was one of the best players I have seen this year. I agree schedule is not tough but Boro schedules aren’t great. Why are we so quick to say Siegel is such a tough opponent? Didn’t they lose to a not so good Smyrna team last week? Also, Cookeville is not all that tough. Has anyone looked at their schedule? Hitting the gauntlet of their schedule now and just might end up 6-4 after being 6-0. Riverdale is going to be 8-2 this year with non region games of Franklin, EAST NASHVILLE, Spring Hill, and Centennial who is 3-4. All I’m saying is quit worrying about another teams schedule because the way it looks to me is you can argue for it against everyone’s schedule. Time will tell how good these teams truly are. Just tired of hearing the BS of boro teams are so great. Oakland and Blackman yes they are. The rest in region 3 might as well be under the category of time will tell not they are a tough opponent just like everyone says about MJ. Thanks for entertaining my thoughts. I’m probably going to turn back into a reader and not a poster for another 2 years. Have a great day to all the fellow CoachT readers.
  2. Still mentioning Glencliff without mentioning Republic.
  3. Does any Murfreesboro supporter realize the argument “you scheduled Glencliff” that Glencliff beat Republic who Oakland played? I guess if you schedule Maryville the rest of your non region games are okay if you schedule REPUBLIC WHO LOST TO GLENCLIFF. Don’t forget to mention in your region is Warren Co and Coffee Co. I won’t mention that Franklin team that Oakland plays tonight since that counts as a tough game.
  4. Mt. Juliet wins this one going away. They'll be 5-3 (4-1) going into their bye week.
  5. I agree with you that final record is more important than record at the time of the game. What I don't agree with is that the jury is still out. Mt. Juliet has a good football team and has showed that since week 3. They played decent against Gallatin and awful against Cane Ridge. Since then, they lost in overtime against Ravenwood, who will win region. They destroyed three teams they should have destroyed, and they beat a good Overton team. Mt. Juliet will finish 6-4 or 7-3 depending on the McGavock game. Either way they won't be a team anyone will be thrilled to get matched up with in the playoffs. Good win for coach T and the Golden Bears Friday night. They coached and played to win the game and it paid off.
  6. To each his own. I do go to every Mt. Juliet game because they have twice the demand in our paper that Wilson Central does. That does not mean that I am objective towards them, or that I discredit Wilson Central. It would be much better for my business if Mt. Juliet and Wilson Central played three point games every year. Fact is, they don't. Have a nice day. Go Bears, Go Wildcats.
  7. Wilson Central is 1-2 in the region, not 2-1. Mt. Juliet has faced a much tougher schedule to this point. I cover both teams, I try to be pretty objective, but Mt. Juliet is in my opinion, the class of Wilson County football. Wilson Central is an improving football team, but we saw two different games Friday night, I suppose. Mt. Juliet was better in all three phases. Just one person's opinion.
  8. Should be a great football game. I'll say Bears win close, 24-20.
  9. Great win for the Golden Bears. It is pretty clear that the rest of the county just isn't on the same level. That being said, Central and Lebanon are still both improved football teams. Looking forward to their game this week.
  10. Bowes finally faced good defense last Friday. Had about 50 yards and 3 or 4 fumbles. The formula is not that simple. They have to block a good front 7 from Mt. Juliet and get the edge, which has proven to be tough against the Bears.
  11. Tough night for the Wildcats. Not going to get any easier next week at Mt. Juliet.
  12. Btw, Joey Hayes had over 300 passing yards (haven't added exact # yet) and 4 touchdowns tonight. Minus the Cane Ridge game he has had an excellent season.
  13. Good win for Mt. Juliet. Defense is looking better every week, Lebanon couldn't move the ball at all. Excited for WC - MJ next week!
  14. They'll play two teams with winning records over the course of the next two weeks so we'll see how that goes. If you're talking teams who finished with a winning record, Wilson Central 2013 finished 6-5 I believe. Either way, the citizens of Mt. Juliet want to have better than a .500 football team and I believe they have the right coach to lead them back to where they want to be consistently. One man's opinion.
  15. Any final predictions for what should be an excellent game tonight?
  16. There is much more, which I laid out some of in another post. Either way though, if you have been going to MJ games for a while and have good football knowledge, you know that the problem isn't coaching. That isn't to say that the players aren't talented, because they have some really good talent. They just don't have as much of it as they did when they were constantly competing for state championships.
  17. I based the pick off of seeing both teams play Mt. Juliet so you could be right. Beech was a just a scrimmage, but I liked the defense Cane Ridge displayed, but their offense got very complacent against MJ. Maybe that was because they built a lead, but either way I was more impressed with Cane Ridge than Beech.
  18. Maryville vs Alcoa stands out to me. For a five year stretch though, Mt. Juliet - Beech was as good as any in the state. It's a shame those two got split up in the new format.
  19. Yeah, I have watched the wing-t for years. I realize that, but also know that there are ways in which you can mix that up and give other guys just as many carries. Central has been able to be predictable a lot this year and get away with it for lack of competition. They won't be able to do that as much in the next two weeks against McGavock and Mt. Juliet. Need to mix things up.
  20. I realize what a lot of the people in the town think. All I will say when it comes to the team winning is that it is easy to look at the win difference between the two and make a judgement, but that would also be lazy. There is much more that goes into it that is maybe hard to notice unless you have been watching them play every Friday night for ten years.
  21. I've seen a lot about the MJ coaching staff on here. I have only been reading a few weeks and just joined as a poster today. Let me say this. Mt. Juliet has one of the best coaching staffs in the state in my opinion. That started with Coach Perry (Roger) and the leadership he showed there over the years. While it may not have translated to as many wins, coach T has done a nice job since taking over as head coach. He has assembled an all-star staff and prepares like he is getting ready to coach the SEC Championship game every week. Think about this. The MJ staff consists of Roger Perry (I think we all know his accolades and accomplishments), Levi Brown (OC) former Troy and Buffalo Bills QB. Greg Abner (DC) and former high school head coach has done a great job with that unit this year. James Wilhouit (ST) former Vols kicker and probably the best kicking coach in Tennessee. He sends many many kids that work with him to college every year, and Golden Bears have consistently had great kicking since he joined the program. Almost every kick for the Bears has been a touchback for years. On top of the great staff, coach T himself is a workaholic. He is always as prepared as one can be for the upcoming opponent. At field level he can be heard telling his defensive players the upcoming play before the ball is snapped. That comes with hours and hours of film study. Everything I just mentioned is known by the Athletic director, who was on staff with some of those guys just a few years ago. Coach T is not in danger of his job and people close to the MJ program know that. I know these men personally. They are men of faith and good character and have great working relationships with one another. I would be completely shocked if coach T was in any danger at all of losing his job at the seasons end, regardless of how the rest of the year plays out.
  22. If the Wildcats can run the ball the way they have the last couple of weeks they could get a really big win here. This game is flying under the radar but what a huge game for the region! Personal prediction Wilson Central 35 McGavock 27 Towes has gotten a lot of attention the last two weeks, and rightfully so, rushing for over 400 yards and 9 touchdowns in the last two games, but wouldn't surprise me to see Wilson Central get back to Jordan Hooper a little more this week to balance it out. Should be an exciting game to attend.
