  1. Meigs didn't know who they would play if they beat Jellico, since Grace and Harriman played after their game with Tellico. So losing to keep from playing Grace wasn't on their minds. The boys had a bad game is the reason they lost plain and simple. The starters in this group have been together quite some (before middle school) and hate to lose and to suggest they would on purpose is an insult to each of them and an insult to the coaches. They plan on winning each time they step on the court.
  2. With Zy Meigs beat Tellico 72 to 25. I guess that is close for some people
  3. Several players sick, only had seven available to play. Zy did not play
  4. Seems most on this board have already written in Harriman and Grace as region champion and runner up. Harriman only beat Meigs by two and still has to play them again. Meigs lost some games with last years district player of the year hurt. However, this did make some players step up and perform and gave a couple of others extra playing time. Meigs has been there before and have alot of experience. If one looks back, this is the first year this group of Harriman players have beaten Meigs, plus Zy was out the first Grace game. Meigs does have an uphill battle and I am not saying they are going to win but if these eight seniors (who have won 109 games during their high school careers) are hitting their shots they can compete and win even more games.
  5. Get your stories straight first you say Forrest players wouldn't do anything then they will in retaliation. The refs missed calls there was a horse collar tackle on #23 for Meigs which wasn't called plus a couple of face mask. I am sure there were calls missed the other way but you want to make it sound as if Forrest does no wrong. These are kids all of them will do things they shouldn't. Quit looking through your rose colored glasses and grow up. You made it sound as if JC would be able to hang with Meigs by stating you you do an appendectomy on yourself. Marion County is another beast in itself Forrest may have had two Mr. Football semi-finalist but Marion has two Mr. Football finalist. Stop putting down high school kids. If you have a problem with the kids talk to their parents.
  6. I hope the Meigs kids are reading your post about how they are not very athletic and didn't have much of a chance against JC or how much better Forrest is. To let you know when Meigs played Marion it was the 1st region game for a freshman qb plus their two best defensive players did not play in that game. Also the Forrest vs Tyner game wasn't much of a curb stomp either.
  7. As of today the playoffs would be: Silverdale @ Forrest Boyd @ Watertown JC @ Meigs Westmoreland @ Marion
  8. He was 10 for 33 with 3 TDs and 5 ints before this game. Two of the td passes last week were short dump offs to #23 the other was a one handed grab from #1. He hasn't connected down the field in previous games. A couple of completetions were great catches by receivers. That said he has made tremendous strides since first few games and will hopefully get even more accurate as the rest of the season progresses. The reason somethinghas been said about his passing last years QB was told he would be the starter until days before first game and he performed better in the passing game during pre-season than the freshman (he also had the players backing him). The running game and defense for Meigs did play a very big part in this win
  9. More dominant basketball player, pretty good football player. Four starters from basketball team on football team (Zy, Harris, Rayl, and Oliver) along with a few others. All four very athletic, plus several more not playing basketball, are above average athletes, but not being fully utilized on the field. Rayl dominant defensive player, but other potential playmakers not getting enough touches offensively . It seems like coaching staff wants to run their system instead of adapting it to the players on the team. Qb change the week of first game still confusing. The freshman qb will be a good one, but the other qb is a better passer (plus being a senior is a bit more mature) and could get the ball to some of the athletes playing receiver which isn't happening . Will see how team and coaches do (changes being made) coming out of bye week
  10. MC was superior in the game last year, will not know which team is superior until after the game this year. Meigs does have some great athletes on the team that are not being utilized fully. There are several players that need a few more touches on offense. Passing game is not there with the freshman QB, need to use the other QB some to get this going. If Meigs' plan is to just keep ball on ground and pass a half dozen times in the game then go only with the freshman. However, doing this does not allow possible playmakers the opportunity to get the ball on offense. No one has said the players' efforts were not appreciated, some have stated coaching is lacking in certain aspects. Some of those are in play calling, player utilization, and going with the good old boy system of we are friends with this ones parent so we will play him. Meigs County players will leave it all on the field but if all players are not being fully utilized to their fullest the fault is the coaching staffs. Until full player utilization happens Meigs County will not take the next step up. This isn't the players fault but goes with the coaches (who have been inferior to MC's coaching staff). Meigs has a shot at winning anytime they step on the playing surface any other thought is ridiculous.
  11. The reply about fans was not aimed at last night. I was not there and did not see or hear what happened. I apologize for any thing that happened last night. As I said the game is about the players not us.
  12. If you noticed at the district tournament not only Meigs was being cheered for by all the other teams in the district. The student section was made up of Meigs, Midway, Greenback, and Harriman students. During the region tournament there was less because fans from the other schools were not at the game. However, I did hear some "classless" comments from the Grace "Christian" section which were far from being Christian. Those in glass houses should not throw stones. So take care of your classless fans before commenting on other fans. The game is not about you or the fans the game is about the athletes on the court. If it was about you I would hope your team would be packing it in after the next game, but because the team is from district 3 I hope they go far.
