  1. If Tyalen Shaw has a great game, North Side will win. The only thing that kind of scares me of picking the Indians is because NS doesn't have the receiving core they always had. They still have some good receivers, but they are not as good as the previous years.
  2. I am wrong. I just checked it off the internet. They were near 1,300 but then they lost some students. Now, they are around the 1,000 mark. Obviously they will be getting some more students if JCM closes.
  3. He did. I went to the regular season matchup between McKenzie and Riverside and they weren't to shabby. The Rebels got off to a fast start and then Riverside had opportunities to come back but failed. I don't like the offense, they ran way to many different sets. Defense was pathetic. Riverside is losing a lot of kids for a 2A school.
  4. It's official, a few rumors here and there were swirling around that Robertson will not be the head coach for the Panthers in 2016. Robertson will still remain as the schools athletic director. Jeff went 17-16 as the head coach for Riverside and made the playoffs in all 3 seasons. Robertson career record as a head coach was 51-57 in 10 seasons (two stints at Riverside and he was the first ever coach at Liberty). Riverside went 4-7 this season, losing to McKenzie in the first round of the playoffs.
  5. In 2012, North Side always had a great crowd. We played 9 home games and filled up the home side in 7 of those games and had a few people leaning on the fences. Since 2012, the crowd has dimensioned a little year by year. Now, it's tough for NS (a school that has over 1,300 students) to fill up the stadium. However, if the weather is good on Friday, I do expect a sell out.
  6. I can't believe this thread is quiet and calm. This game is probably the game of the week! I expect a full house at the Reservation on Friday night. However, I do believe the game that occurred in mid-September does not matter in this game. So basically I'm not going to pick Lexington just because the Tigers won the regular season matchup. With that being said... I believe the team that has the ball last could win the game. I believe we could see a little deja vu from what happened in last years game in Henderson County. Both teams are playing great! I hate to see one team go down and the season comes to an end.
  7. I do appreciate the fact that you will admit if Ridgeway will win this game easy. I believe Lexington will have a shot if Tisdale and Johnson both have big games. If not, then it could get pretty ugly.
  8. Lexington has been playing great ball in the last month? 10/02 defeat Ripley 49-13. The Tigers didn't win a game all season. 10/09 defeat Obion 43-20. The Rebels only won one game and that was against Ripley 10/16 defeat Memphis Westwood 68-6. The Longhorns (I like that for a HS team) only scored 50 points all season. They finished the year at 1-9 and the team they beat won 0 games (Oakhaven) 10/23 defeat Dyer Co. 42-14. Which is not a "football school" and it seems like they will be a mediocre team for years now because all the football players will head over to Dyersburg. 10/30 defeat Crockett 48-14. The Cavs started the year off good and finished the year on a pretty good note as they get ready for 2016. The 5 schools I just mentioned (Lexington last 5 games) combined record of 11-39. I'm sorry but that doesn't look good in my eyes. Nice try though!
  9. I'm pulling for Ridgeway in this one. Not saying Lexington can't win, it's just Ridgeway will be the better football team on Friday night. Yes, they went 6-4, but losses came to very good football teams. They have speed at all positions and play with a chip on their shoulders. Prediction: Ridgeway 35 Lexington 17
  10. Believe it or not, a 1-9 team made it to the playoffs. Wait, I thought one of the reasons why the TSSAA went to the new playoff format so there wouldn't be a team that wins 1-2 games in the playoffs. Guess I was wrong. The Chiefs are 1-9 (defeated (1-9) Kingsbury 46-0 in Week 5). I don't expect this game will be close at all. North Side defense is rolling and the offense is still improving. Craigmont's defense will give up points. Prediction: North Side 42 Craigmont 7 P.S. According to the Coacht thingy, this will be the first matchup between schools. I hope for an injury free game for both sides.
  11. In regards to BA I respect the fact that you said "Need to see someone else your age that is dominating the same sport to the extent where it motivates you to a better player." Sometimes, I wish North Side will do the same thing since it won't hurt them in terms of playoff seeding. Even though it's a big city rival, NS has completely own JCM for the past decade. If I am NS, I would consider scheduling a powerhouse team, use your example as seeing someone your age that is completely better than you are, and receive the money and go home. The attendance to the NS/JCM games are miraculously down, and its to the point where it's just a normal game. So if Mrs. Ruffin and the school board decides to shut down JCM, if I am Coach Vowell, I would schedule a powerhouse team. And on Dyersburg, we can both agree on that D-Burg is that type of program that can beat you on any given night. Regardless of the weather, location, and field conditions.
  12. You can say what you want to say where none of the teams got out the 2nd round of the playoffs, which is eventually true. But however, remember the last TSSAA playoff format where if you win your district you get to host a playoff game? And you play either middle Tennessee teams or Memphis teams based on where the school is located geographically? I hope you remember that playoff format. In that playoff format EVERY GAME MATTERS whether if it's a district game or a non-district game. Again, EVERY GAME MATTERS!!!!! Two years ago when you can schedule more non-district games, Liberty decided to get a little fancy and play a money game against Brentwood Academy and a game against MUS. I hate to say it, but that's basically 2 guarantee losses. So Liberty finishes 8-2 at best with hopes of winning a district championship, which they did. I know Liberty folks have said before and many times, playing MUS and BA will "help us in the playoffs." I have heard that many and many of times. So Liberty goes 8-2 last year. When they could've gone 10-0 if they decided not to play MUS and BA and just play 2 teams that aren't "Powerhouse teams." So Crockett County goes 10-0, they get the 1 seed. Trezevant goes 9-1 and they get the 2 seed. But Liberty decided to play 2 powerhouses not knowing it will hurt them in terms of seeding in the playoffs, 8-2- 3 seed. If Liberty went 10-0 they wouldn't have to play Dyersburg, they would play Craigmont or Raleigh-Egypt. And I know Liberty would beat CHS or REHS, but they decided to shoot themselves in the foot and play two powerhouse teams and lose both of them. So Liberty could have gotten out the second round of the playoffs if they play two teams that weren't powerhouses.
  13. North Side has always played in a weak division? You mean the division that both NS and Liberty were in? And I can guarantee you that Region 7-4A is a whole lot tougher than the region that Liberty is in. That is not even debatable. Now I do agree with you on the weight room. You look at Liberty players, and the first thing you say is "Holy Cow! How did they get that big?" They are just huge. BUT when you say North Side has players that sit on the bench that would start at other schools? Wouldn't that go for a lot of other schools that are consistently good at the high school/college level? Wouldn't there be a few bench players that play for Alabama, LSU, or even Ohio State that could start at schools like Texas, Iowa State, or even Miami?
  14. No Coach Hookfin does not own Coach Vowell in any means. Back in 2013 when North Side and Liberty played against each other at Liberty. The Indians got off to a fast 14-0 start in the first quarter. Guess what happens after that, here comes the turnovers by the Indians. They turned the ball over 6 times that game, one of those six was on the last possession when the could've scored and kick the PAT to win the game. North Side lost that game 27-21. The game that happened in 2010 I believe when both teams were undefeated at the time. People were tailgating at 4:30 for a 7 PM game. Liberty administrators had to tell people to leave because Liberty ran out of SRO and the extra bleachers were already filled. NS won that game too because of Special Teams and a late TD. Hookfin does not own Tab Vowell by any means. And yes, this year Haywood's team does have athletes.
  15. Is the coach retiring or was he told he would not be able to come back (In other words FIRED!)
  16. Trinity lead against McKenzie 17-0 and that is when Andrew Goldsmith got hurt. They lost that game 44-24. When he didn't for the remainder of that game, McKenzie outscored Trinity 44-7. If that is not a one man team then tell what is???????
  17. PREDICTION: Andrew Goldsmith 42 Jackson Christian 21 Andrew Goldsmith will play Scott's Hill in the first. Andrew Goldsmith will go just as far as Andrew Goldsmith takes them.
  18. I agree. It is kind of astonishing when you see South Gibson and Lexington to have "pink" jerseys for Breast Cancer Awareness night but then you have other schools that are struggling to improve their weight rooms and hopefully talk about turf fields for the future. A lot of it is just do you have community support or not.
  19. dhstennis I agree with you. However, I feel sorry for Coach Taylor at JCM. He is not in a winning situation and probably will not be in a winning situation until he leaves JCM. If there is one guy that could leave, it could be Coach Butler at Trinity. I hate to say it, but it's Andrew Goldsmith vs Jackson Christian at Trinity. That's the matchup on Friday night. Everybody knows it. That's it and it's kind of embarrassing in my opinion. So after this season, what does Trinity has in offer to compete next season? In my opinion, not much and I do believe TCA will take a huge step down and will struggle next season, so Blake Butler could be available.
  20. We are talking about the same Chester County team that started the year 5-1 with an impressive road win in Lexington and a overtime loss to Adamsville in week 1. Do we feel sorry for Chester? People were starting to give them credit when they beat Dyer County, heading to Alamo with a 5-1 record. But as of late, the wheels has fallen off in Chester County and I just don't believe they will win to a young impressive North Side team. Prediction- North Side 35 Chester County 14.
