  1. ...with Tyler Harris. Add a decent big and they can contend but still fall short to East.
  2. He was in the stands a few games. that's it
  3. To be the best you have to actually beat the best, i don't think they are into honorary rewards.
  4. Honestly what's the point of Wiseman going to East if they aren't going to play a fully national schedule? He's already a top 5 prospect, what can East do for him that he's not already accomplishing himself. He could win the championship at Ens when Garland graduates so the championship thing can be accomplished on both ends. Ensworth has a great coach so that's not the problem either. The only benefit in him transferring is practicing against Dandridge daily.
  5. Good point you're making as far as the rippling effect of transfers. But as far as OB goes, they are kinda lucky right now bc they have 3 former memphis kids in there starting 5 lol. Sure DJ is a rare player to come out of a school like that but if they lose him they will return to their normal status of being a pretty good north MS team and losing in the glass house every other year to a Jackson team that year in and out runs MS. Transfers are fine to me but when teams are overpowered is the only time i will complain. I can understand how a coach would feel different though.
  6. If im not mistaken Bruce Guy is playing for team loaded out in Virginia on the addidas circuit. Houston's coach isn't great. Team is too talented on paper to not have made noise yet.
  7. Thought they were replacing Lawson with Jeffries. That rumor has been a reach tho, DJ's success in the EYBL will surely determine what he does. If he's overly impressed with the coaching he's receiving this summer then maybe he will leave OB.
  8. Not a rumor any more. He's there. Started school 2 thursdays ago.
  9. Nice gesture of sending the team there even though they are not playing, I think its a way of the SCIAA implying that they support their boys even if the TSSAA won't.
  10. http://usatodayhss.com/2017/memphis-east-to-attend-dicks-nationals-in-new-york-even-though-it-wont-compete Good gesture by SCIAA, this is kinda a kick to the TSSAA basically saying we don't mind paying to send our kids there even if they aren't playing. Even though i'm sure Hardaway will cover some of the charges.
  11. Mitchell Melrose Sheffield and Hamilton should be able to make some noise in AA next year with 2 of the 4 stepping down from AAA.
  12. They have 2 of the best players in the state, arguably 3, but the rest of the supporting cast was not good enough to even come close in region 8 this year.
  13. lol 6'6 boyd and 6'8 freshman. Haywood will get 40-50 pts from Boyd and Jarrett combined, after that it kinda falls off. They are the ones that will create for them selves and others but the rest of the team is full a good role players who will knock down the three. One of their supporting guards is quick as an cat too.
  14. As far as memphis goes. Hamilton Sheffield Mitchell and Melrose in AA could shape us as a nice region.
  15. Great analysis, I can definitely tell you have a coaches eye.
  16. Don't know crap about Sheffield this year, haven't heard anything from them since before 2010 when they had Chris Crawford. Haywood could make a run and end up in the final, they have the players to slow down Hodges to get there.
  17. No one from memphis will bring in favorable fans. If i were running things i would have three satellite locations and switch up up every year between a West, Middle and East location. It's not as if the place packs out anyway but thats just my opinion. I know there are alot of money things involved in picking the location.
  18. They are essentially the middle man, we don't complain to the president and expect him to make changes. We complain to him and expect him to meet with the different houses to voice public opinion that could spur change. Nothing wrong with complaining to the TSSAA at all imo.
  19. Freeman will break the press and he along with Marshall and Williams can shoot you out of a zone. If they were in fighting distance of the East press with the D1 size that team has, the Oakland press/zone shouldnt phase them. The only thing about Southwind is you never know which team will show up.
  20. I wont be able to make it, got a business trip going on and will have to catch it online.
  21. looking forward to see bo play this year.
  22. Freeman and Harris are in the same boat as far as the size limiting them. Tyler can shoot better than any of them but Freeman is a great distributor. But he also has SEC schools in southwind's backyard weekly just like the others. And already hold offers from Florida, Bama, and Ole Miss. Gatlin is "good, very good" i agree. No one bash me please lol but the first time i saw him i thought he resembled a poor man's Derrick Rose on the highschool level. Am I saying he's Rose? NO. I'm just saying that's his playing style. Big 6'2-6'3 (true size) guard with a handle, can make a shot at all 3 levels, extremely quick and fast for his size, and unselfishly makes plays for others. I would read the box score daily and see players on his team getting 20 and 30 points with him having around 12 or 15 and know its because he opens the floor for them. You can make it from anywhere I agree, its just all about positioning, but i know for sure he's the only reason that team goes. Now im sure coach may get on her and big up his team (as a coach should) and say that he has a great group of talented guys and taelyr isn't the saviour, but we know the truth lol. Recruiting is honestly about being in the right place at the right time to get noticed. I'd put it this way, If he switched places with Freeman or Lomax etc he wouldnt be a the secret he is now, he'd be a top 100 player. If he switched with Lomax, East would still have the same success virtually and he'd be loved bc he's such a flashy big guard. But I don't think alot of kids could go to Brighton and do what he's doing. I'm a firm believer of positioning and it wouldn't shock me if he's overlooked and ends up at a Murray St, Missouri St, or SEMO or something like that and turns into a Cam Payne. He has that type of abililty. Also at one point and time he was on a AAU team with Freeman and Lomax, now thats a crowded back court. Yeah i know i'm long winded.
  23. All are great, deserving kids.
