  1. Ok maybe a shell of himself was wrong word to say statistically. But in the playoffs his impact among the team is less felt against quality competition. Watch him play a game in his area and you see a lot of back door lobs, wide open lanes and rarely ever contested shots. But when he plays an A team that has the athletes to compete and stay in front of him and a coach who will game plan for him his team loses. He's the team's only option he should get his numbers regardless. I hope they make a run and get to face a west team with a good squad like Humboldt or Dubois or the forgotten three time defending champions Mitchell to see how effective his 40 ppg will be in the winner’s column.
  2. Great point. He was only a shell of himself in the playoffs last year against better players.
  3. How does this kid even get a McDAA nomination??? Scoring is so saturated in the state bc certain areas lack talent so much that when one decent kid comes along he kills the competition. But when that kids plays against the talent rich areas he learns he doesn't compare. But im sure this logic applies in all states. I just dont see how this kid gets the nomination if he isn't even ranked in the state by the recruiting boards. 2500 pts will be a nice feat though.
  4. Garland wins as an underdog lol jk Darius Garland BA Will Douglas CBHS Jacob Lyons CBHS (Caried team first half of the season in Douglas' absence.) James Wiseman Ensworth (Someone has to replace Bone on the ballot.) Junior Clay McCallie Its Garland's award either way it goes unless someone unseats him for the three peat. Imo the fact that they moved the ceremony to after the championships show that post season must have some effect. Douglas is looking like himself again but its kinda hard to expect a close race seeing that Garland has at least 15 more games under his belt this year. I also believe Bone should've won last year but the postseason matters.
  5. Josh Conrad will surprise many and win this if dubois can make a little noise in the post season.
  6. It's just one game but I think it'll be safe to say that McCallie is the #3 team in D2-AA
  7. Yeah he got the duke offer early last summer
  8. McCallie's 5 on the floor is basically in a tight help zone making sure Garland doesn't drive
  9. Lol SS I guess we are in tune haha. I'll let you have it
  10. 4:37 left in the first BA up 8-1 Garland has all 8
  11. https://livestream.com/accounts/9171837/events/6901027 hope you guys find this in time
  12. Who's the highly recruited players for McCallie? Clay and the 6'7 kid?
  13. Looking forward to this game to see how good McCallie really is. I know that they played Oak Ridge closely but BA will be a tougher test.
  14. Great question. Never thought of it. Lol probably not. $$$$$$
  15. Lol more points have been added to Alo in the Lomax/Harris debate. As far as the championship went, Cody Riley and Marvin Baley were just too darn much for Chandler and Dandridge. Its kinda hard to beat a team with three seniors committed to UCLA San Diego St and Arizona state paired with the #1 2018 player not to mention that he's a 6'11 dog. This is not the game that you want your starting guards to shoot less than 10% from the floor in East's case. But they may be able to avenge this loss (as they did twice with the Montverde loss) later in the year at the Dicks Sporting Good's Highschool National Tourney in April. It's hard to see them not getting an invite as long as they cap of the year with the gold ball as they are expected to do and will finish as a top 5 team nationally if doing so. Especially after beating a Montverde team twice that usually flips a coin yearly with Oak Hill for the champions of the Dick's nationals.
  16. 12:00 Briarcrest vs Germantown Girls 1:30 Houston vs Northpoint Girls 3:00 Lausanne vs Collierville Girls 4:30 Briarcrest vs Southwind Boys 6:00 CBHS vs Houston Boys 7:30 Lausanne vs Arlington Boys Briarcrest features 6'5 SF Cedric Henderson Jr and the talented 6'4 freshman Marcellus Brigham along with a cast of streaky shooters. Southwind has arguably the best guard trio in the area with Mark Freeman(2018 guard with several offers including SEC heavy interest), Christian Jones, and Quentin Williams. They also have a solid big in 6'6 PF Robert Boyd. And possibly CJ Marshall the UTMartin commit who has been battling an injury for quite some time but is expected to be back any day now. CBHS features Jacob Lyons a 6'6 big who can knock down the 3 consistently and get to the charity stripe frequently. They also have the SMU commit Will Douglas who's back from a minor injury and playing just his third game of the season. Houston has a roster oozing of talent from 5'10 streaky shooter Carlos Sandifer to 6'5 stealthy sophomore PG Bruce Guy and the bouncy 2018 Ryan Boyce, both of whom are being recruiting heavily by UofM Ole Miss and other D1 schools. Lausanne although not the most talented group of the classic individually, but they play well together and have being so for the most part for a long time due to most of the key pieces playing grassroots together at a young age. Arlington is going thru a down year and currently has to go to war for every victory they get, but 6'2 crafty senior Luke Wiseman and 6'7 junior Garrett Golday will be tough to defend for Lausanne and should be favored for the matchup. Should be a good one.
  17. Experience points to Lomax, you kinda really don't have a choice. I don't think we will see Harris be forced to play PG until next year when Blake leaves as i stated earlier in this thread. Last year Alo wasn't the best player in AAA he was just the glue of the best team in AAA.
  18. Low to mid major for the 12th ranked PG in 2018.
  19. Tough question. I'm kinda forced to go with Lomax bc Harris has to learn how to play PG at the next level, but I wonder how effective Lomax would be without talent around him. Lomax struggles to guard Elite pointguards from what i have seen, he struggled with Shai Alexander and Garland. Garland is just too skilled and Alexander didn't let Alo bully him with his strength. On the other hand I think he and Harris will have a harder time with bigger guards period. Also I really like Blake Williams but i dont think the confidence is there at times. If Lomax is all you have on your team I dont think you will win as much as if Harris was your only option but that is strictly on the highschool level. Both of them will need a great system. Neither of them have a jaylen fisher type skill set.
  20. They are very familiar with each other by now lol
  21. It won't take but maybe 5 minutes of watching the games on youtube and you'll be able to dissect their playing style. There was an interesting article in the commercial appeal today also with the coach referencing where he got the playing style from. I'll post it below. Goodluck to all the scrappy guys of A. http://www.commercialappeal.com/story/sports/high-school/2017/01/11/aaa-basketball-strong-ever/96184132/
  22. I don't get why everyone is automatically trying to say that Dubois is the favorite now. Yes Mitchell lacks the bonafied scorer that they've had in the past 3 gold ball quests but i still think the system Mitchell runs will break Dubois. Coach Turner will live with the volleyball line shot attempts and won't allow them to start fast breaks off rebounds as they have done so much this year against the teams they have hung 100 on. They shot it well but not contested well, they don't have a Tyler Harris out there. Hopefully we get the match up during the division tourney. Grad academy is tough too, they are a very scrappy bunch and can beat anyone in A with a little home cooking. But also i wouldnt rule out UC either, they have 8 loses already but only one of those came to an in state opponent, you can't penalize a team because they have played better competition than others. But all in all the AP sucks
  23. A few injuries and a cold shooting night is the only way OR beats East.
