  1. Oak Ridge was the worst OR team in history. They couldn't have gotten a first down if they had started before DB came out. Bearden QB was a player, but is out for several weeks. And their losses were to Maryville and West , two serious programs. Could be closer than you think.
  2. Let's look at the next year's Tribe team. RB gone. QB gone. That's over 7000 yards of total offense right there over the past two years. Center gone. Two guards gone. Remaining OL men are currently sophs. Leading receiver (Jenkins) gone. remainder were not bad but not great. Secondary all comes back. This could be interpreted as bad news. DL was only fair, and will partially return. The lone good news is the LB corp. All return , and were pretty awesome against the run at least. Factor in that they will still play Oak Ridge, Farragut, Science Hill, and Alcoa. Not to mention HV and Bearden. And I just don't see a possibility of a season above 5-5. Trying not to be a homer, and just being objective and breaking it down. A lot of holes to fill, and limited putty. JMO
  3. At 2-5, the tribe looks terrible. But after further investigation, the five losses came to teams with a combined record of 34-2. Not making excuses, but it is documented as the toughest schedule in the state of TN at any classification. Granted our pass defense is horrible. Not debatable. But our run defense has played pretty well, and really good at times. And we are putting up over 300 yards of offense every week against these teams. Looking at HV and who they have played, and their performance, I will take our chances this week. And it's not close. DB 35 HV 7
  4. Olive branch and apologies accepted. You my friend , are an admirable admiral. Seriously, I want to say a couple things about the game last Friday. 1. We really enjoyed the trip, venue, and how we were treated by the staff and fans around the stadium. 2. The late hit, (while I think it was just a kid using bad judgement) was sickening, and we all pray that your QB gets healthy soon and back on the field. 3. The most embarrassing thing was the lack of discipline shown by the whole DB staff, which led to lack of discipline by DB players. Quality character was one of the unseen extras that Graham Clark provided, and demanded as a Coach. Good luck the rest of the season.
  5. It sounds like maybe they didn't start til 2016. And the other night, til after halftime.
  6. I am told that the play calling is all from the OC, who has never been an OC before. He was Oline coach in his last job, and is RB coach at DB in addition to OC. Although he would prob like to be, I don't think GC is involved. What you see is a product of lack of experience, lack of knowledge of what the offensive players did last year, fear, and the same secondary coaches. I don't see it changing much...
  7. The other side of the coin is that in the first half, DB threw the ball, and mixed it up. 5 for 5 on the first drive alone. In the second half, they threw it almost none. A few more first downs and the bulldogs get less opportunities. Scared and conservative. A tale of two halves on BOTH offense and defense for the tribe.
  8. I am a loyal tribe supporter, and want them to do as well as possible. I have also watched film of the Alcoa Maryville game. Big , fast, and aggressive at all positions. Here's another statement that most will think is ridiculous. Greeneville should be glad that they are not on a collision course with Alcoa. The Devils could not hold this team. As of yesterday, ranked the number one team in Tn in all divisions, and number 44 in the nation. That will be very evident by the end of the first quarter next week. Just being honest...
  9. What did they do to him? I thought he was the hire, and they offered, and then he called back and turned it down.
  10. Is there local radio coverage at Oak Ridge that a fan can listen to while sitting in the stands?
  11. I appreciate the fondness for DB band on this thread. They are something to be proud of. Condensed version coming down to atomic city this week. I had hoped to compete with Greeneville last Friday, but never thought we would win. However, this week will be different. I watched the cats entire game against Hopeless Valley last week. I expect a solid performance from DB in a bounce back win, 24-14. Let's get the predictions going, just for friendly fun....
  12. Not one person on here from any team or city has said one disrespectful word about Greeneville or their team or fans, unlike you and the video you posted earlier, in which DB fans were referred to as d_____ bags for feminine hygiene. Win or lose, you could learn something from those around you.... I could have said "melt that gold ball down and make you a grill", but I won't
  13. I had to look that up. haha. So... if you don't come to the game, he will be both healthy and hurt.
  14. What time is the scrimmage Wednesday? And is it at Devil's Den?
  15. Devilman is back from therapy after the green racked up 7 total points against Fulton. I'm thinking Farragut will give them another test this week.
  16. Complete summary on tri cities sports. DB played without starting QB (ankle) and slot (knee). Both offenses still produced big yardage . Final if you include all squads 6-4 DB
  17. The Tribe was trying to find a set of fourth graders to scrimmage , like you all did, but they were all in bed.
  18. I think that "vertically challenged" comment I made hit home, Caine... Lol
  19. And I hope your son, or teammates , or Dad, or whoever is on the team that has you so arrogant and delusional plays well in the big game.....
  20. I am interested in another set of opinions. What will the attendance be like at this game, and how does this matchup compare to big games in the past? I'm told that the SH /DB game of 2012 was the biggest crowd in recent memory. Maybe 12k or so that night. How will Greene county travel, and what will the atmosphere be like? Opinions....
  21. I have watched a ton of highlights of both Greeneville and DB from last year, as well as attending the game between them. A point that I would like to make, if you watch the whole season of Gville, the standout MVP was the #23 wideout/def back. That kid got open deep over and over. He burned DB in the first half, a score that helped keep it close, so the comeback was possible. Apparently, this happened over and over all year. I am also told he made many crucial interceptions, (maybe multiple against Anderson C.). Greenville had basically two pass plays. 1.) Throw it as far as you can to #23 , and 2.) the bubble screen to Goddard #11, and let him use his athletic ability. QB had to roll out , or throw it sideways, due to being vertically challenged. I know they are loaded with big, strong, physical players, especially defensively. But now that the 23 is gone (graduated), they will have to find a deep threat to replace him, and the secondary was suspect anyhow. QB ran it over 20 times against DB ( and very effectively) because no other back could produce. This great state team is still great, but there are a couple holes to fill. It will not be easy.
  22. I don't think it's set yet. They were still interviewing last week. Depends on who they get, and what he coaches, as to where the others will settle.
  23. Defense.... Hmmmm….. I have said for a few years that if you score 35, you should win. At times the tribe has not. I will say that the defense improved some last year, mostly due to the behind the scenes help of Coach Colobro, who has several decades of coaching, and at least three state championships to his name in previous jobs. He will be back again to help. DB lost a couple of blue chip linebackers and some good defenders, and will have to rebuild, or replace at least half of the defense from last year. The good news that I hear is that the new staff has captured 3 or 4 great athletes from the halls, and returned them to the turf, and most will play immediately. I agree with WaCo. This has been an ongoing problem, and will continue this year to some extent.
