  1. Tired of Ravenwood people trying to spin a preseason scrimmage into a victory over Indy. I kept the scoreboard for that scrimmage and Indy's varsity scored three of the first five possessions. Ravenwood scored twice. Ravenwood varsity offense played a sixth possession and scored against Indy JV players. Ravenwood JV did beat Indy's JV so total score went to Ravenwood. Congrats to Ravenwood regardless.
  2. I was talking more from my experience in high school. Private school sat right in our school zone. We usually had two to three potential starters go to the private school. In our area I think Brentwood High School suffers the most from the loss of talent.
  3. Independence line was smaller. Biggest kid 240lbs. Center was 210lbs.
  4. Congratulations Ravenwood! I guess this year Williamson County has the best team in the state. I hate to jump in on this thread like this but what scrimmage were you watching? Starters played four series a piece. Indy up 3-2 at halfway point of scrimmage. Ravenwood played starters against Indy's JV for one series after the half and scored. Ravenwood JV clobbered Indy's JV . Congrats to Ravenwood regardless. I was pulling for you! Just get your facts correct before you post. And if you are trying to spin a scrimmage as a real game we could talk about your "scrimmage " against Oakland or better still, your loss to 5A Centennial. Sorry to the rest of the folks on this thread. Just needed to set the record straight.
  5. After we scored our last TD, Blade pulled all the juniors out and put the seniors who don't play much into the game. They ran the ball every play and waited till the play clock was down to 5 sec before the snap. Typical stuff a coach does the last game of the season with a big lead. Not sure what the issue is.
  6. Agree wholeheartedly and I think it works well in a tight community with s straight middle school feeder and no tuition assisted private schools nearby.
  7. Thanks for these stats. players to watch from Indy: #19 Seth Huner. Receiver that goes a little unnoticed playing aside Johnson. Great routes, great hands and great moves after the catch. #6 Daniel Wright. Running back. Wouldn't know he was football player in street clothes. Trusts his linemen and follows blocks well. #44 Jordan Pope. Defensive tackle. 5'8" 225lbs. Squats 550lbs and is very quick. Very effective pass rusher with speed to run down a quarter back.. #4 Chris Beavers. Defensive End. Tall kid with good speed. Excellent pass rusher. #33 Jacob Stoney. Linebacker and kicker. Kicks into the end zone 9 out 10 times. Missed a 53 yard field goal slightly left this year. None of these kids have been heavily recruited but are a major reason for Indy's success. I've been able to watch a couple Sevier County games on video and aside from the color of the jerseys, I thought I was watching Indy. Virtually the same offense with a great QB and great receivers. This game will be won or lost on the line. Defensively, Indy runs a four man line and rarely blitzes. It appears SC runs mostly a three man line but will blitz a linebacker. SC has size advantage on the line. I think Indy's line plays with better technique. Indy has given up fewer points. Both defenses get after ball. Both teams execute well. Should be the best game to watch of all eight championship games in my opinion. Someone asked why Bunch hasn't been recruited by the big schools. I don't have any inside information but he was nursing a sore elbow over the summer when a couple schools were looking at him and then had a stress fracture in his elbow during the second quarter of game two. He missed the next four games. Luckily we had an open week or he would have missed five games. He may be a little short for the ideal recruit. He lists at 6' 1" but he's more like 6' even.
  8. I'm new to Coacht this season and it's an interesting forum. I discovered it after using CoachT to get scores. I can tell you that very few people close to the Indy program know of this forum so please don't assume the worst from a couple of posters. Indy is a relatively new school (11 years old) and has had at least four head coaches and has been rezoned multiple times. We just reached full enrollment after losing a lot of the student body to the new Summit High School. Coach Blade in his in third season and hopefully the school zones will be stable so that we can begin to develope the tradition of schools like Sevier County. Folks from Sevierville and Pigeon Forge probably never heard of Independence High School prior to this season. I don't recall the two schools ever competing with each other prior to this. I don't have a prognosis for the Friday's game yet. I have only seen Sevier's first drive against Rhea County on video. From that I can tell you that our offenses look very similar. Stats are what they are and without a common opponent it's hard to judge. I'll try to post again later but for now I'm looking forward to a great game!
  9. Indy vs Hillsboro is an hour and half. I 40 to Hiway 840. No traffic from Cookville. Should be a good one.
  10. It was a great game to watch. Still close into the third quarter and the game was not put away until we scored to make it 31-7 in the fourth. We still remembered the comeback the Commandos made two years ago. I thought the Commandos stole the momentum after the fumble at the beginning of the second half but our kids rose to the challenge. Thiat is what has made this team different than teams in the past. Offensively it went about as I expected for Indy. Nate Johnson and Seth Huner have been making catches like that all year so they were no fluke. Our offensive line did well to protect Bunch against the best defense we've played all year. I thought Hville would move the ball better, quite frankly, and its a testament to our defense. Hville's offense executed well but we were able to keep them botteld up for the most part. Could have been a different story if your QB had completed that first pass! Congrats to Hendersonville on a fine season! Maybe we'll do it again next year. I haven't seen Hillsboro play. Any thoughts on that game?
  11. Interesting you say that Tgun. Indy's backup QB from last year is the starting QB for Oakland this year. He's a junior.
  12. I've said in a post on another thread that I have been looking to Hendersonville as the team that Indy needed to beat to make it to Cookville. Having been knocked out of the playoffs two years in a row by the Commandos, Indy certainly isn't looking past this game. My prediction for this game is that it will be a GREAT GAME. Neither of these teams have faced an opponent like each other this year. No one runs the WingT like Hendersonville and no one runs the Spread Offense like Indy. I wouldn't want to be either Defensive Coordinator. You can have your kids watch all the film you want but it's very difficult to simulate each others offense in practice. Indy's front seven must be very disciplined. They must stay at home, recognize pulling guards, and then fly to the ball. If you see Hville running backs breaking through the line untouched, somebody missed a read. Watch Indy's linebackers early in the game to see how it goes. If Hville has a lot of 3rd down and 5+, I think you are in trouble. Hville has to get pressure on the quarterback because I don't think they can cover all four receivers on every play and Bunch WILL find the open receiver. If you try to blitz though, Indy can hurt you with the screen and QB draw. Indy runs the ball very well from their passing formations as well. The Guards and Tackles both pull on some plays and if Hville's line gets too much penetration, Wright will bust through the line untouched. It's a very difficult chore for Hville's linebackers because Indy's line does a very good job of disguising their blocks. Again, watch the linebackers A dry field favors Indy and it looks like it will be dry. My prediction is whoever wins the Coin Toss will take the ball. That's the only thing I am certain of. I can see a close game going either way, or a big victory for Indy. I do not see a repeat of last year. Official prediction 35-21 Indy plus or minus the extra points. For those Hville fans driving down for the game give yourself an extra 20 minutes to get here. 4 lanes goes to 2 on I-65 and it can take a while. Bring a bunch of people because this is #1 vs #2 in the State. It should be a GREAT GAME!
