  1. About as tangible as the fact that RHS starters beat indy starters by two scores in a scrimmage the weak before season started
  2. Second year in a row raptors take the lead into halftime... Should be a great finish. Both teams playing hard, and physically look very similar to reach other...
  3. Ravenwood is the largest school in williamson county with approx. 2200. Nolensville high is expected to take 3-400 hundred from RHS next year. Athletics will suffer, but as often as williamson county rezone, RHS will be back on top in 4-5 years. RHS will lose approximately 30 percent of. This year's freshman football team. (maybe 15 kids)
  4. http://www.brentwoodhomepage.com/ravenwood-aims-to-dethrone-maryville-in-title-rematch-cms-24110#.VmH3FFirS00 write up from the brentwood online news.
  5. http://usatodayhss.com/2015/bluecross-bowl-previews-and-picks Looks like the local 'xperts have the raptors falling again to marvul.
  6. ' Except for the drive down the field at the end with a chip shot to win? Yep, that block still stings ... That has been the only dadgum blocked field goal against that kicker in the last three years...
  7. Did you see the titans play last year? Who would want advice from that staff? But if it makes you feel better to attribute RW success last year to some mythical coaching strategy handed down from the nfl gods...well have at it.
  8. Don't know about marvul. Do they have nfl players/coaches who think they are entitled to stand on the sideline and get free concessions. You more than likely have enough sense to know that you can't stroll down to the sideline, yell at the kids, get your team 15 yard penalties, and ejected from games. Some do not.
  9. This is so far from the truth it is laughable. If you only knew the effort the coaches made to keep the "nfl minds" in the stands. No good coach that I have ever met tolerates "daddy ball", and the RW staff is no different. In fact, RW made a new rule this year that everyone on the sidelines at games had to have a pass from the school...NO parents were issued sideline passes. TIFWIW, but would the Maryville staff let someone outside their staff effect their game plan? Neither would the RHS staff.
  10. RHS safety A. Lutgens dad played for Maryville back in the day. Evidently his dad and his old high school buddies have been pretty brutal about last year's game....Which begs the question...is it ok to cheer FOR your alma mater and AGAINST your child?
  11. Looking forward to another great game between these two schools. Last year both fan bases and student sections created a fantastic environment for high school football and I look forward to more of the same last year. Looking at the film from last year, # 27 (i think) for MHS was a game changer. Many people say that RHS fell apart that game, but that is not how I see it. MHS was put in a situation where ther kids faced a ton of adversity, and they did not blink. They simply strapped up and went to work. RHS didn't stop playing. They didn't start making silly mistakes. They did everything they needed to do to win a championship. Recent Mr. Football winner has a chip shot field goal to win the game? I would take that every time...I guarantee you RHS would take that same opportunity again this year in a heartbeat. The kid from Maryville did what champions do and made a play to send it to overtime. I have never heard any of the coaches second guess going for two. The only thing I have heard is that if they had it to do over again, they would have rolled out the QB and gave him a run/pass option. Regardless, the play was open for a split second, Maryville just made a play to win the game. Will this year's game live up to last year's? I don't know. MHS is a well oiled machine and their kids expect to win every time they step on the field. That is a confidence bought and paid for by all the championship teams that came before them. RHS has a legacy of winning as well. Though not as storied (they have only been in existence since 2002). But in thirteen years they have one state championship and two state runners up. Not too shabby. Since Will Hester has been at the helm the last three years, RHS record is 37-4. With three district titles and a state runner up. Again, not too shabby. All public schools should aspire to reach the level of MHS. The staff @ RHS has a TON of respect for what MHS has accomplished and for Coach Quarles and his staff. As for the game itself, RHS has been out-sized and out-athleted in the majority of their games this year. They play hard and disciplined, and, like Maryville, they never give up and never expect to lose. I do think they will present a different challenge for Maryville than the Blackman's and Oakland's of the world. Those teams have great success at lining up and pounding teams into submission. I think it is painfully clear to Rutherford County that strategy won't work on Maryville. RHS, if they have any success, will find it in the schemes they run and mismatches they can create. I would venture to guess that Maryville is not always the biggest and the strongest, and RHS is never the biggest and strongest. Should be a great chess match Saturday night. Good luck to all and congrats on a successful season regardless of the outcome.
  12. You might find more people who "respect da haven" if the fans would stop making silly comments like this. Here is what lost yall the game. Terrible special teams and one first down in the second half. One. You can make yourself feel better by blaming the same coaches y'all have been taking about all season, but the simple fact is, y'all got out played by an "undersized, unimpressive, non athletic" team. Rw was the more physical, more explosive, and more disciplined team. But yeah you are right. They didn't win the game, Wh lost it....whatever. The Wh players and coaches were very respectful last night... Too bad they have fans that come on here with their ignorance and make the whole program look bag. Respect da haven? How about you give some respect to the team that has turned out your lights for two years in a row.
  13. Except the final score maybe? It really cheapens the effort your guys have and the season y'all had when you say things like that. If rw is not impressive, and they just ended your season, what does that day about your team? Great high school football game between two great teams.
  14. Two of the best defenses I've seen in a while. Honestly, with how big and dominant both lines are for Wh, I don't see how they ever lose. Great game and great crowd from Memphis. Y'all did your program proud
  15. Wh does not stand a chance of it comes down to field goals. Rw just hit from 55 yards
  16. 13-10 whitehaven at the half. Ravenwood will get the second half kickoff. Wachs done s phenomenal job of containing rw offense, but let Rowland lose on a kick return Ravenwood doing a good job of not giving up yards in huge chunks. Wh receiver made a great catch in the end zone.. He was covered like a blanket and just made a great play. Should be a good second half.
  17. I think the key for either team is who can do a better job of limiting big plays. Ravenwood gave up a few to Mitchell last week, but they made a few more big plays than they gave up. The QB from white station could really spin it, and I think everyone knows how much pressure Mitchell can put on a defense. From what I have seen from WH, they line up in the traditional I formation a good bit, which in theory should help RW at least get lined up correctly on defense. Getting lined up and getting stops are two different things though. I don't see either team having sustained success if they are one dimensional. Ravenwood has been in a few games this year where teams have dropped a safety down and took away the run. I think WH will have to do this as well.
  18. Ravenwood is very beatable. Centennial had a great game plan against them early in the season. As stated earlier, Ravenwood played the first four games without their two best defensive players (all- state players last year, I believe) Centennial got to the QB early and he suffered a high ankle sprain in the first quarter. They finished the game with him and he ended up throwing six int's (two of them in the red zone, If I recall correctly). Ironically, their 2nd string qb played very well the next two games and led them to victories. Centennial is a great team and with Rector's reputation for throwing the kitchen sink into the gameplan, they are very hard to prepare for. They have some great athletes and their qb is really hot right now. Definitely going to be a fun game in Williamson County. Random, Useless trivia of the day: The only time Indy has lost this year was in a scrimmage game the week before week zero. Ravenwood beat them. Other than that, Indy has rolled everyone.
  19. Ravenwood's offensive line is not that big compared to some of the others they have faced. They do have a tackle that is 6'7 260, but that is on the thin side for someone so tall. However, they are extremely strong, disciplined, and well conditioned. One Bartlett coach remarked at how dumbfounded he was that Ravenwood was able run the ball because they looked so small on film. I think it is a testament to all the programs that we have the same four teams battling it out again this year. Good luck traveling east and maybe it will be a competitive and safe game.
  20. It really is a shame that Hoover and Maryville have never played, they have both been dominant for so long. This year's Hoover team was as bad as they have been since 1999. (they lost last night in the semi's) Hoover has played in the state championship 13 out of the last fifteen years, winning the championship ten times. The only reason Hoover gets more recognition than Maryville is because they play 2-3 games a year against out of state teams and those games tend to get televised nationally. Anyone who thinks Maryville is not as good as Hoover, just does not know football. Maryville could play with anyone in the southeast.
  21. 1.Definitely a run first offense, with qb, rb, and wr close to 1000 yards rushing. 2. Qb is pretty accurate, had a game earlier this year where he was 15/15, I believe. 3. Defense is definitely strongest against the run. There are some great running backs around here and I can't remember too many 100 yard rushers against this defense. My personal take on the game: like last year I believe ravenwood will be too strong for whitehaven, with more ways to win. How many times has white stations Dillon Mitchell been the second best player on the field? You can make an argument that he was last night with ravenwood's Chris Rowland. The defense is better than last year's squad that really made it tough on white haven last year. They have to figure out how to get the qb stopped, and find a way to get #75 blocked, but at the end of the day ravenwood simply has too many ways to beat you. Just my opinion. Ymmv
  22. Should be a good game. Anything can happen, but I believe If both teams play their best possible game, ravenwood wins by two touchdowns.
  23. Just went final. Looking forward to rematch with da haven. Should be a great game between two great programs
  24. It has officially turned into a pac_10 game... 55-35
