  1. My biggest problem is consistency and attitude, I see some who seem to have a bias but not many. I'll give one example of attitude: We were at a Christmas tournament, out of town and down by 4 late in a game, the other team is at the line shooting free throws and my son told his teammate "I've got shooter" The boy shoots and misses the ref jumped up and called a lane violation on my son for talking to the shooter. My son tells him "I was telling my teammate that I've got shooter and he hadn't even shot yet" With everyone still at the line the ref points his finger at my son and says "Boy don't complain to me because you are losing or we'll make sure you lose" In my opinion, a guy like that has no business reffing high school ball. Now I admit I'm biased to my son and his team but I really don't understand how you get in a 17 year old's face like that in front of players on both teams and say something like that. As some mentioned above about big guys getting foul calls more, I see that with our big guy too, but I also see that on other teams. Just because a guy is big doesn't mean he is fouling more, if its not a foul on a normal size guy, it shouldn't be a foul on the bug guy either.
  2. Agree, I have only seen him once this year but he played AAU with my son all summer and is a heck of a ball player! Granted, I don't see much A ball and have not seen the other candidates but Caden is a great player!
  3. Red Bank could have beat Coffee the night before but our young team couldn't get it done in the 2nd half, I thought East Hamilton would have killed Coffee so I was very surprised as well!
  4. It was, I didn't even catch that they took 2 points off the scoreboard during halftime until my son came out of the locker room afterwards and told me. I knew that they wouldn't change it though because, Hixson would have played the last minute different had they known the score. It was a good game and I was proud of the way our guys came back after being down 18 early in the 3rd and a proud dad as my son hit 4 3's and 14 points in that 3rd quarter! In fairness to the scoring, the lady who normally does our books was not there but it was our home team scoreboard operator and back up score keeper!
  5. We (Red Bank) are playing in the Coffee County Red Raider Invitational, also in the John Overton Post Christmas but i haven't seen a bracket for it yet. Red Raider Invitational Teams: East Hamilton Beech Franklin Co. MTCS Grundy Co. Red Bank Coffee Co. Community
  6. Having seen them both now, I would give the edge to Tyner but it should still be a great game.
  7. We are a mess offensively right now, bad decisions and bad passes and not looking for the open guy with a better shot. These guys can play much better than they are right now but it appears it will take a while to get there. I kind of thought this was about how that game would go and next Tuesday against Brainerd will be tough too. Brainerd/Tyner will be something!
  8. I agree that Brainerd & Tyner are the top of the class. My son plays for Red Bank and we lost 6 seniors from last seasons team including all 5 starters, so we are very young this year. I think we can win some games but I wouldn't expect any against those 2.
  9. Red Bank is very young this year, we graduated 6 seniors including all 5 starters. Only my son (junior) 1 senior and a sophomore really have any varsity experience coming into this season. We have 2 seniors & 2 juniors, so freshman and sophomores will be playing a lot of minutes on varsity this year. It will be fun to see them mature as the season goes on, last year my son came in and mainly shot 3's from the corners so he has to take a lot more on this year and I'm look forward to see him progress. As far as Soddy, they have Jake Flippo a senior who can do it all, he was on my son's CABC fall league team and they won the championship. Jake was also named the league MVP. Other than Jake, I'm not real sure how they stack up I think they graduated several too. I'll find out a lot more tonight.
  10. Looking forward to it getting started. My son plays for Red Bank, so I'm biased for them but looking forward to seeing all the teams in the area.
  11. I was there last night, my son plays for Red Bank. I have known all season that we are a good team but our district is crazy good! we went 0-6 against Central, Brainerd & Tyner in the regular season, even though many games were close we could never beat one of those 3! Don't feel too bad this district is just really good this year!
  12. My son plays for Red Bank and we played Station Camp in the Hixson Christmas tournament, unfortunately for us my son went down with a concussion just before the half. We jumped off to a hot start and took a 45-29 lead against them to the half but they never let it get to them and came back to win 77-74. They are a well disciplined and talented team from what I saw in that one game. That has kind of been the story with Red Bank this year though, playing the really good teams close for 3 quarters then coming up short at the end.
  13. Thanks, I asked him about it last night and he said he was working on adding a game back, so we'll see who he finds. My wife went to Berean, so that would actually be fun.
  14. Sad situation! Just curious, is it possible for 2 teams who are now short a game to get together and schedule a game to make up for the missed Ooltewah game? My son plays for Red Bank and we only had 8 home games to begin with, Ooltewah was scheduled to come in 2 weeks and now we will be down to 7 home games. I’m not trying to diminish anything about the situation and I think they did the right thing, just honestly curious if that is possible and I’m sure we are not the only school that will want a game added back
