  5. I think there is a small bias towards the upper east TN teams. Not sure about the Webb connection, but the coach of Bearden was the coach at Cherokee HS previously. Agree that Maryville and Catholic should be there. Some of the east TN teams didn't perform well.
  6. Bearden and Webb are still alive in the winners bracket at the Arby's classic. Webb plays North Mecklenburg, NC and Bearden takes on Columbus, MS . If they both win, they would pay each other in the finals!

  12. Whats the Xmas schedule look like for everyone? I know Heritage is hosting a tournament, Catholic is playing in it. Bearden (and Webb) is in the Arby's Classic. Any others?
  13. Heritage (64) over Farragut (58). Not sure what happened between West and William Blount. Joe Anderson hit from EVERYWHERE and managed 21 points for Maryville. He's really, really good.
  14. Farragut at Heritage and West at William Blount. My money is on Farragut and William Blount. Bearden should win tonight, Maryville needs to come out hot to have a chance, especially playing at Bearden with that student section. Bearden has a lot of weapons and is tough when they press. The game against Cleveland was close, but Bearden only scored six points in the first quarter. They played horrible and still managed the W. The game before that, Bearden scored 41 points in the fourth quarter alone against HV. Two games with over 100 points, including the last game against Heritage. Catholic has been playing well, mostly behind Brock. Shut him down and HV should could have a chance. HV seems to have good shooting, but no height.
  15. Have not seen them play yet, will see them on Friday. At the moment, they're 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the district, beating West and losing to Lenoir City . Both games were close. In non-district play, they did beat Alcoa and White County, but lost to Fulton, Powell and Tennessee. They play Maryville Tuesday and Bearden Friday, I expect it'll be a rough week for them.
  16. Here's the district schedule link: http://www.coacht.com/tennessee/inside/schedule_group.cfm?schoolid=17&sportid=3&seasonid=321 Although it's not complete, not every team has a complete schedule posted. There may be other games.
  17. Lenoir City (1-0) at Bearden (3-0) Monday (11/20) . Hardin Valley (2-0) at William Blount (2-0) Tuesday (11/21). Heritage (0-1) at Catholic on Tuesday (11/28).
  18. Yeah, well, thanks, knew that.
  19. Heard that as well through a few Bearden players, but apparently Akeem was at the Jamboree with Catholic.
  20. About a month out now. Looking forward to this season getting started.
  21. Having Catholic in the district will be interesting this year. Catholic also picked up Akeem this year after the Knox Christian issue. That'll give them some firepower, but they did lose a few seniors. Bearden has a lot of talent, but a few injuries coming into the season, so we'll see how that plays out. With a healthy team, I would still expect Bearden to be the team to beat, then Catholic. I think Maryville will still have a decent team, but not the powerhouse they've been in the last few years. Farragut is rebuilding and HVA has a lot of seniors, but don't expect they can take district. Heritage, West or WB I see as .500 teams and not sure how strong Lenior City will be. Regions will be interesting with OR losing all those seniors.
  22. Just looking back at this thread for predictions for this season. Expect Bearden to be contenders the next two years, they're only losing one senior. New coach (great man) had some interesting games, but the players managed to get the job done regardless. New coach, old coach, didn't matter this year, the players made the difference. I don't think they'll beat OR, although they almost beat them in November and were up for three+ quarters, but OR came on strong will likely eliminate Bearden if they do play. Next year, I'd vote Bearden though.
  23. Bearden should be interesting to watch this year. They have a young team, mostly sophomores from last year. One senior, two juniors. They've got some talented shooters and some height. They went 12-2 over the summer camps. Even with a new coach, I think they'll surprise everyone.
  24. From what I'm hearing, the team, parents, boosters, students are moving on. Nothing anyone can do but move forward, accept the change (or go somewhere else) and see what happens. Blevins is gone and hightailed it out of the state - so is the team never to play again and just talk the good old days? There may be one or two hardcore Blevins fans on the team that'll transfer, but that's their right. The Bearden Blevins reign is over. Give the new coach a chance, he's not even in the door yet. You may be surprised when Bearden wins district next year. You never know.
  25. New to the forum and stumbled across this today looking for state bracket stuff. I have a nephew who goes to Bearden. From what he says, there were some serious allegations against the coach. I understand the helicopter parents concept, but if you or I did some of these things he's accused of to our kids, we might have gotten in trouble ourselves with social services or whatever. He did get suspended, so that states something and he decided to retire to maybe pre-empt getting booted, who knows. Obviously he has a great reputation as a coach and a teacher. There may be politics at play here too, I expect there is. Don't know anything about the principle or anyone else, maybe it was a conspiracy, who knows. Maybe it was just time he moved on and helped another program. I don't think the girls coach will be the new coach, he's got a good thing going there and next season will be such a question mark for the boys team.
