UNBELIEVABLE
-
That’s a huge stop! And a very good use of a timeout right before
-
7-6
-
Just be careful, no smoked bologna for opposing coaches
-
Fayetteville city opened for the 2011-2012 school year the 10 years before that they were about 10 games above 500 and were 5-9 in the playoffs. They had turned into average years before the city opened a high school
-
I think the program would be in the same state it is in. Hard to win with the talent gap between them and surrounding areas. They do have several young players that are 9th and 10th graders who look like they are going to be pretty good, but I’m not sure they have enough of them to matter. Coaching staff tries hard and cares a lot but is mediocre/average at best, which won’t do much to overcome the talent gap. No winning seasons since 2015, no playoff wins since ‘07.

Round 1: Cornersville travels to McKenzie
Snowballschance replied to RedRebelman's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
Not even sure corntown can keep it close. McKenzie by 40 -
The game would come down to a big play on defense. Blocked punt , interception, 4th down stop in opponent territory. Could very easily see it being an 8-7 or 12-6 type of game. Would rather that be in the 3rd round myself. Fayetteville may be running on fumes by that point though, their playoffs really started last week against cascade
-
The top 15 in 2A are all relatively in the same stratosphere , could be anyone’s title to win
-
Ain’t no you or your. I roll with my Fayetteville tigers(have since day 1) just calling it like a see it. Marion is the better team, will win either way, just depends on if it’s close or a laugher. But we can play quality of schedule game all day. And we will also all skip over the fact where you think the Moore county rematch would be better, I’m sure it would be much much worse
-
You must have missed the part that said beaten. Cascade has played Moore county(and lost) but who have they BEATEN.
-
Who has cascade beaten that’s better? Only really elite team cascade played is Moore county and… they scored 5 points.
-
Agreed. Fast start will be their key. They’ve won 2/3 of their games this year in blowout fashion. I think people just need to put that Forrest game to the side. Good teams have off nights, but good teams on off nights still find ways to win games. Forrest also does not have a bad roster and do hang in games because of the talent.
-
Fayetteville will win, but it may be close if they are looking at the 1st round of the playoffs and not Forrest. If I’m smith county, I’m sweating bullets and hoping Forrest doesn’t pull the upset. They don’t want Fayetteville in round 1
-
Depends on which marion county shows up. This team is the ultimate dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. They SHOULD win by 42, but I think cascades ability to run the ball will shorten the game and keep the score lower. 28-13 Marion county
-
All the pressure would be on Marion county, not a place I would want to be in. Beat a STRUGGLING Fayetteville team by 7 at home. Also barely beat a Forrest team that is mediocre at best. Marion county better not play with their food come November or they can watch the state title game on NFHS network. Maybe them and East Robertson can have a watch party together
-
Im not sure East Robertson wants any of Fayetteville, and I’m sure smith county is hoping someone can bounce them before round 3 as well. I’m still not sure how good Lewis county or Mt.pleasant are. Not a lot of separation between #1 and #15. Should make for a fun November

Huntland has been a scrappy team all year, they got blown out by Moore county and played a bad game against eagleville with injuries, but they have been able to hang around and make the game ugly enough to stay in it. They can’t score with corn town, but they can play well enough defensively to make it a game early. Like I said cornersville for sure with the win, but closer than the “experts” think
-
I think huntland can keep this close for most of the game, maybe a late score makes it look worse than it really was 35-20 corn town
-
Hard to run crossing routes with no o- line to block. Those routes take time to develop. This team has to run the ball, control the clock and play defense and play the field position game to win. Atlwast right now while the offensive line develops.
-
If your line can only block that long, then yes, that’s solid. They graduated a lot from the offensive line and this group needs some time to develop. You help your QB out by throwing quick stuff to your speedy playmakers. Not everyone can be as good as that vaunted LC team this year that had that huge upset win over Richland
-
You can take that to the bank, tiger hill will be rockin and loud. Fresh smoked bologna for everyone!
-
Coaching staffs do matter, but this coaching staff is solid. Not great, not bad, just solid. players have to step up and make plays. Offensive line has to give plays more time to develop. Hard to get a real feel on how good they are or they aren’t because of the schedule.
-
I think most of them knew that the real season was the last 4 weeks of the year. first 6 games on the road against quality opponents was brutal on a team that already was going to take a step back to start the year because they graduated so much talent. but this team will win 3 of last 4 at minimum and most likely win a game in the playoffs, so the posters should start showing up soon.
-
Forrest can probably keep this closer than most would think, but Marion is just the better team. I’ll take Marion pulling away late
