  1. STONE MEMORIAL gets the win last night and some cumb co. fans/parents lose their minds. Coach Miller's brother was escorted out of the gym for harrassing the refs. A handful of others were going nuts. A couple of ppl were even crying. Pure craziness, but very entertaining. (Kind of like The Jerry Springer Show).
  2. I've seen all 3 play multiple times, not just this year, but over the last 3 summers and seasons. My opinion is this- Levy- Most Skilled and Athletic guard in TN-AA. Maybe best PG in TN period? Lamb- Best Leader & Most Competitive player in TN regardless of classification. Dishman- Best stats in TN - 30 ppg speaks for itself. *All 3 of their teams have been successful and have a great chance to make it to Murfreesboro. * Not sure what criteria or logic the voters will use, but I think Levy wins it again. She is the Best "Player" of the 3.
  3. Please, No more SMHS fans respond to any of this garbage. Show some Class and let them ramble. We played aweful and got beat. End of story. Coach Buck and the girls are moving on.
  4. Lady Panthers played aweful last night. CCHS out played them in just about every phase of the game. CCHS came out ready to play and SM never matched their intensity. Credit to CCHS, they deserved to win last night.
  5. As a Stone Mem Lady Panther Fan, I say, if you can't beat em - then pull for em. Good Luck to Cumb Co tonight representing 6AAA. Especially to the seniors (Carlton, Varney, Hinch & Clark). They have made it to the Sub-state all 4 years of their HS careers. How could you not be a fan of those 4 kids and what they have accomplished? Wish you guys the best.
  6. Makes sense to me. It was definitely an Advantage for Bradley this year. Didn't really workout so well for the Cleveland boys, but it a huge advantage for the #1 seed from that district.
  7. Congrats to Coach Mitchell & White County on tonight's win. Good luck moving forward.
  8. Great game White Vs Cookeville tonight. Congrats to White Co. on finishing 3rd. Also, Congratulations to Cumberland Co. tonight. They played hard and wanted it more then Stone. The better team won. Their guards are just better. Good luck to all 6AAA teams going into the region tournament.
  9. Stone over Cumberland tomorrow night. Game could go either way. Two completely different styles of basketball. Neither team played their best in semi game. Obviously Cumberland is the favorite. But, I just think Cumb is due a district loss. Projected White Co to beat them last night, but the came up a little short. White Co has had them on the ropes their last 2 meetings. Too many TO's for White Co to overcome. Hopefully Stone will take better care of the ball and give themselves a chance.
  10. I think White beats Cumberland tonight in a close one. Expecting Luna & Leftwich to have big games. Don't think either team will shoot it great @ Warren Co. Leftwich will be the difference.
  11. Meadows played well tonight. Had 31 @ Stone Memorial.
  12. SJF. The La-La land comment was not directed toward you. And i don't know what % of kids that go to exposure events actiallly receive scholarships, but I can just about bet that 95% of kids that get scholarships HAVE attended exposure events.
  13. It is amazing how much out of touch with reality that some people are. It is OK though. (Some people just have no clue that they don't know). Must be nice to live in la-la land.
  14. Gracie Maynard (Upperman) scored 42 with 13 threes against York Institute. Great game!
  15. Good District games on the board tonight. Cumb @ Stone Rhea @ Warren Cookv @ White All 3 should be competitive.
  16. Stone Memorial Lady Panthers suffer Tough loss Tuesday night @ Rhea Co 45-47. But, get nice bounce back win tonight @ White Co. 75-72.
  17. Times Change... They don't do a lot of things the same way they use to. I'm not advocating the current system or recruiting process. I just know how it is and Im happy to educate the uneducated. It's irrelevant why it is the way it is. But I do agree about following the MONEY.... That's true with most things.
  18. I know... I'm with ya. He is LOST!
  19. I understand "elite camps". The biggest purpose of these camps is to get previously identified and currently recruited players on campus and allow the coaches to interact with them. It is very unlikely that a kid will attend one of these camps out of the blue and catch the eye of the coach. And like you said, they better play their best that day. Usually they don't play great because of nerves. However, playing exposure events infront of multiple college coaches will help kids get over the nerves problem. Elite camps are great, but they are only a small part of the recruiting process. Mostly only D-1 schools Host these type of camps and some of them you must be invited to attend. You do have to pay a fee to go to these camps. A downside to only attending these camps as a kid's only method of being recruited is that several of these schools hold camps on the same days. So you are limiting ur exposure to only that one schools coaching staff. And if you are gonna travel around from city to city spending money attending multiple elite camps, why not just play an exposure event and let the college coaches come to you? That's why these events were originally set up.
  20. Maybe the # 70 is a little low? IDK? But, from what I can tell, there is only about 35 colleges in TN that have women's basketball programs. If you 12 players on each team, that equals approx 420 college players in TN. Probably 20% of those players didn't even play high school ball in TN. But, let's assume they all did. If 25% of those players are Freshman then that's about 105. So maybe 105 TN high school seniors will find somewhere to play college basketball after this year? That's not very many (but it would be higher than the National Average). Probably 25% of those freshman will quit after their first semester or first year because they get no playing time & it's not the glamorous life that every kid thinks it is. It's a lot of hard work & long hours & a lot of kids can't handle the demands of what it takes at the next level. Regardless, of Exactly how many there are, the fact remains.... You are not getting a basketball scholarship and your education paid for unless you get exposed, seen, noticed and recruited by a college coach. I don't know of another way to do that other than attending exposure tournament events. If you know another way, please share your knowledge of how it can be done since you know several current players that have done it.
  21. I must not get out enough. I must be delusional? I didn't know that there was a bunch of drug addicts & alocoholics be allowed to play basketball in the Upper Cumberland without anything being done about it. Come on man!
  22. I would love to know this secret formula that you know that gets kids scholarships while avoiding the travel/exposure circuit. Fact is, You are wrong again. And I hope you don't have a kid that is good enough to play college basketball. Because, if she wants to play and doesn't attend Exposure Events she has a <1% chance of getting signed or even recuited. Furthermore, the statistics show that 93.7% of high school girls players won't & can't play basketball at ANY college level. There is currently about 430,000 high school girl players in America and about 27,000 college girls basketball players. So, you do the math. About 6.3% are gonna make it to play in college. That's it. There is approximately 4,500 girls currently playing TN high school basketball. If 6.3% play in college, that's 284 total or about 70 seniors going to play in college each year from TN. Wake up man, If you know some kid that wants to play college basketball and they have talent, then give them some good advice.... "Go play travel ball on a team that attends exposure events". It's not that complicated.
  23. I would be interested to know what specific school you are talking about that allows kids to get caught with alcohol or illegal substances and not be punished. (And Punished doesn't always mean being kicked off a team) Each school district has specific policy about alcohol and illegal substances. And to my knowledge, these rules and punishments have been inforced here in the Cumberland County school system. I know most of the kids and parents at Cumb Co & Stone Mem & don't think these issues you speak of are a problem here and if a situation does arise, it is dealt with in the proper way. I don't know about players from other counties, but the MAJORITY of the basketball players here at Cumberland & Stone are really good kids.
