  1. Who will be favored this year Maryville, or Alcoa?
  2. Morris seems to be a good name for a coach used to be one named Jack Morris somewhere that won a lot of games.
  3. Interested to see how Alcoa vs Corbin goes. Here Corbin is loaded this year.
  4. I'm a little jealous of UC. Wish we could have got the Cardinals on Greenfields schedule. We are 2-0 against Mayfield. This Will be my last post no sense in arguing over a 1 sided game. My advice is Mayfield fans save your gas money, and stay home. I hear wpsd will air it so you can save yourself a trip, and watch it on tv that way you can turn it to walker texas ranger, or something when you get sick to your stomach cause you don't like what your seeing. If you have kids I wouldn't even put the tv on that channel, cause a bloodbath like that ain't rated pg. UC fans enjoy this game, I was going to attend, but I think I'll go watch us beat Fulton City.
  5. Not pot stirring. Mumbles you confirmed that your own states website has y'all at 5th in class 2a. Strong year or not I'll take whatever class, and ranking any year from TN you want by 14 over the same class, and ranking from Ky. Example I'd take the 3rd rank 3a team from TN any year over the 3rd rank 3a KY team by 14 and so on with every equal ranking and any class, and the majority of the time I'd win. In this case Its worse. I'd take UC by 14 over Danville your states equivalent number 1. With Mayfield being fifth i say UC covers Mayfield by 30 without sweating. I've always read, and only started posting because this matchup really interested me, but after seeing Mayfield is down for their standards I'm calling it like I see it a blow out. If UC the number 1 TN team loses to the number 5 KY team I'll be embarassed, and all of TN ought to be. I honestly see no reason to even follow this game or discuss it further cause its a foregone conclusion. This will be a clinic on how to whip a team.
  6. After seeing some recent rankings. Union City picked the perfect time to get Mayfield. Mayfield has been ranked #1, or #2 every year for close to a decade it seems. The new rankings on a certain Kentucky site has Mayfield at 5th in 2a. Union City seems to be #1 by the sources I've seen on here. We all know Tennessee is stronger, I would take the best few teams every year from TN over the best few from kentucky in the same class, so I have a hard time believing the 5th ranked 2a team in kentucky can go on the road to the number 1 2a team in Tennessee, and keep it close. If Mayfield was #1, and UC #5 I'd say it was about even. Since its not some random website, but 1 made up of kentucky experts on their teams, I have to think they would know their teams, and they don't believe this is as strong of a Mayfield team as the ones of late. With this new info I think Union City in a rout. I'll say 45-10 Union City, with Mayfield lone TD coming late against UC jv. I'll say it's 45-3 early in the 4th when UC starts letting up, and subbing.
  7. If the cardinals don't like getting punched in the mouth, and are as weak as you are implying, then I'd say UC is a bad matchup for them. UC definitely is physical, and if Mayfield doesn't like to play physical I'd say UC will run it at will, but I'm not sure I'm buying that. Hard to believe a team with their credentials isn't use to playing teams thats physical. Sounds like some sandbagging by some of the Mayfield followers if they are telling you that. Either that or Mayfield has benefited from playing the sisters of the poor to get all their titles, which is doubtful.
  8. It is ridiculous to say UC hasnt ever been stopped, and I've heard that on this thread numerous times. Why isn't it a fair accesment to say Dresden stopped them? You got 2 chances at them last year with the same results. They held you to 7, and 14 points. Its not a fluke when it happened twice. They scored at will, and stopped UC period. Big Swo you say Offense was on the sidelines? How so if Dresden scored near 50 thats 7tds did they not have to kick back off to UC giving them the same amount of chances? Players play both ways so Defense on sidelines to? That makes zero sense if your stars play both ways how can you say they was on sidelines? How can you say both offense and defense Was on the sidelines? Who was on the field for UC the chess club? Is it hard to stop UC yes, but have they, and can they be stopped absolutely. Can Mayfield do it I have no clue. Any team can be stopped i know of a record setting team that was undefeated, that rushed for 6200 yards that season that got beat by 50 late in the playoffs. Doesn't matter how much you can move the ball if you fumble, and fail to hit pay dirt.
  9. My question is this. How does most feel that Mayfield's great teams lately would compare to what Dresden had last year? We know how good that team was, and they definitely showed UC offense can be stopped, and the defense can be scored on. Of course that was a loaded Dresden team, and UC was young and return everything. I was curious so I punched the numbers in an unnamed website that compares teams. Not that its accurate, but I was curious. I compared Dresden 2016 to each Mayfield team all the way back to 09. The gap between 2016 dresden, and the 09 Mayfield team was pretty large in favor of dresden, but every team from 10 till present from Mayfield was considered pretty even with last years Dresden team with them all being within a few points difference, and Mayfield was considered the favorite in about half the scenarios. By this it seems Mayfield is equal almost every year to what Dresden had last year. It may be far off, but I wouldn't consider Mayfield a , pushover same as UC ain't either. For what its worth I still say that 2010 Mayfield team is the best 1a team I ever seen from either state, and I'd take them over last years Dresden team.
  10. By the way I'm not trying to troll. I honestly believe CAL is just that good from what I hear, but if you can pay them back this year great would love to see Mayfield beat them just think that is a little to tall of a task. I heard it might be hard for you to win your region this year that another team might be favored over you in the region. As to this game been fun ribbing people a little I honestly have no clue who wins this game should be a great game.
  11. You have a better chance of beating UC by 25 than you do of staying within 2 scores of CAL. You will lose to CAL again this year. I know people from Kentucky that says CAL beat your senior heavy team last year with a bunch of sophmores, and beat you bad I might add. You will not even give CAL a game.
  12. Will they be as ready as they was last year when they got spanked
  13. If UC looked that bad I may change my pick to Mayfield. Can't be average, and win against a team like that. I think Mayfield will go through them like a hot razor through butter.
  14. Just doing my part of keeping it live in here. Don't need my contributions anymore fallguy is doing well at getting after the Mayfield Folks. Will say this Mayfield hasn't played many run only teams, and the ones they have haven't been on UC level, but There is 1 exception I can think of where they destroyed a team that was great at the run suprised No one from Mayfield called me out on that one, but I'll leave it up to them to point it out. I'd say this team ran it better than any UC team ever.
  15. I'll let the rest of you educate these Mayfield northerners. These yankees not worth my time. I'll look in game day to see how many tds UC beat them by.
  16. The more I research Mayfield the weaker they look. Yes they are top 5 in all time wins, and so are 3 other from kentucky, and there is more in top 50, but its because the competition is so weak its easy to rack up wins. Why is there not a bunch of texas, alabama, Tennessee teams in the top 10? These are the 3 best football states. A great team in these states can't be in the top 10 cause the competition is so much stronger. A good team not even a great one in Kentucky can be that high if they have played that weak of competition for 100 years. I'm surprised the whole top ten ain't all Kentucky. There isn't a great team in the whole state of Kentucky. An above average team has a cakewalk cause 95% of Kentucky teams are horrendous. I'm surprised how few games Mayfield has won. By adding up wins, losses, and ties they have played close to 1,150 games. Against that weak of competition Mayfield should have well over a 1,000 wins if not 1,100. Why do they only have around 850? By looking up some of the teams they have played in the playoffs I can't find 1 great program they have faced. The only descent team they have played a lot is a team called Danville. Danville is 9-1 Against Mayfield. Does Mayfield have a lot of Championships, and impressive numbers? Yes, but it's apples to oranges comparing kentucky to Tennessee. They should have those type of credintials, actually they should have 30 Championships being in a small class in that joke of a state. Keep playing that weak competition, and beat that chest when you win I'm sure Mayfield will take over as the number 1 in all time wins in 20 years or so playing that schedule. They will lose at least 1 game every year if they keep playing UC. This year UC by 30+.
  17. If you want to see Mayfield past scores go to riherds scoreboard goes back quite a few years. I'll give some info on some of these teams these bottomfeeders feast off of every year. Ft Campbell=horrible only wins 2 or 3 games a year. Webster County the same maybe worse. Ballard usually win about 5 games and get beat in 2nd round I'd call them average at best. Marshall county below average as well win about 4 games and beat 1st round. Paducah Tilghman average team win about 7 and make it to about 3rd round. McCracken county above average but not great usually win 8 or 9 over bad competition then get beat 1st round, by the way they beat Mayfield 2 out of the last 3, and Mayfield barely won the other 1. Graves average win around 7 or so and make it a couple rounds except 1 fluke runner up year. Caldwell county above average they win most of the regular season games and are overhyped By wpsd then get beat down in 3rd round they underachieve alot, but has beat Mayfield a number of times the last 10 years. Murray already said about average run heavy team never beats mayfield but usually give them fits and keeps it close. They have played a team named Corbin but they are not local know nothing about them, but they have had a good record and made it to semis. Mayfield beat them last 2 years, but they where close especially last year Mayfield won by 1 point. I don't see a team on that schedule the last few years that UC wouldn't beat by 20. I'd say mayfield has played 3 teams above average a year. That is McCracken County, Caldwell County, and Corbin. None of them would be labeled great teams, and 2 of them Mccracken, and Caldwell have been beating Mayfield. Folks don't believe the hype on Mayfield.
  18. Only team I can think of that is about as committed to the run as UC that Mayfield plays is Murray. They are an average team and they have gave Mayfield fits. A lot of close scores between the 2 till last year. UC will push them down the field no problems. I'm a fan of neither team just calling it like I see it. I'd love for a Mayfield fan to name 1 team that can run it near as good as UC that they have beaten lately, do I hear crickets.
  19. Don't I feel like the village idiot. I had been told that Caldwell County had been the better program the last few years, but obviously the guy I knew that told me that must have been drinking. I looked back at the riherds scoreboard, and it looks like Mayfield has beaten Caldwell County the last 3 years, and 6 of the last 7 going back to 2010, with 2013 being the only year Mayfield lost to Caldwell 48-41. Could only find records of them playing from 06 till present, and Mayfield is 8-3 in that timeframe also losing in 08, and 09 to Caldwell. Maybe he was thinking about the 08, 09 timeframe when he told me Caldwell had the stronger program.
  20. Not very truthful I see. Isn't a final four or runner up team about average by Mayfield standards? They also got beat badly in the finals, was there because the side of the bracket they was on was weak. The team that lost in the semis to the champ gave them a much better game than Mayfield. Heck the always mediocre Crittenden county was only beaten by 3 points by Mayfield. So do you not count the loss to Caldwell county that year? that would be 2 losses not 1 as you say. That was a very mediocre Caldwell team than hung it in y'alls ####. Everyone knows Caldwell County has taken over as the best small school program in western kentucky. Used to be Paducah Tilghman, then Mayfield, but now for about the last 5 years the best program is Caldwell, and that's a fact. They will beat you again this year just like they have spanked y'all a lot lately. Even in 2015 they spanked yall, but the refs took td's back on phantom calls to make sure y'all would win.
  21. It was 2009 that Trousdale lost to an average Mayfield team @ Graves County 48-40. Looked up their schedule. If my memory serves me correctly my McCracken friends said Mayfield had a receiver that Trousdale County couldnt cover that went for 3 or 4 long touchdowns.
  22. On a side note. I saw Mayfield play in 2010, lets hope that Mayfield isn't nowhere near as good as that team for a long time. Never seen a 1a team in TN as good as that Mayfield team.
  23. Don't think McCracken has anything to do with Mayfield talent being down. Just like any small school you are going to have your up and down cycles. I don't think they ever have fbs prospect type players, just good solid players that might go to a Murray state at best, but I hear the talent coming up is lower than usual. Numbers is the big problem. They had to play a lot of 7th graders on the 8th grade team last year because they didn't even have 11 8th graders. By no means do I think they will not be good the next few years, cause I've never heard of a Mayfield team that wasn't at least above average, but they won't be as strong as the last few years, and definitely won't be as good as the teams they had from 2010-2012. Those teams where really good, but of course those teams had Jonathan Jackson on them that ended up at Murray state. Hear he left Mayfield as their all time leading rusher, and tackler. They don't get ones like him often. He probably would have went to a fbs college if he was a little bigger, but they won't have anyone like him for awhile if ever.
