  1. Anyone care if I take Twofdr's boy as my "dark horse"?
  2. He's ranked by Coach Hamm. He's not a dark horse either. Mine at 138 is the Russell kid from Davy Crockett.
  3. I know you were trying to be humble abt one of your beloved Blue Raiders but the giant bold "M" beside his name would surely give it away to even the most novice bracketeer.
  4. Sorry Foose, Whiteside DEF IS NOT a dark horse. He's more like a favorite that wasn't listed. I'll be surprised if he don't medal.
  5. I believe the score was 12-0 Palmer until Isbell caught him in a throw, which made it 12-5. Isbell added 3 more nears to close the gap. Palmer dominated for about 5 minutes and Isbell for the last minute or so. Very well may be a preview of the State Finals match!
  6. Yes, Schultz will almost surely be a World Champion. How bad was it for your family member who wrestled Deakin?
  7. Gotcha, I feel MUCH WORSE for the big heavy's out there (at least the ones lined up across from Colton Schultz) than I do for the big guys here who are about to get beat up by "Lil Kramer".
  8. Just looked on "Track" and it said 197.
  9. You are correct in that Indiana doesn't have a dual championship. From what I've been told, everyone got tired of Mater Dei winning it. Indiana also has 1A- 5A and kids from ALL 5 divisions wrestle for 1 individual championship in each of the 14 weight classes regardless of their schools enrollment.
  10. Yes, Halls has had some good teams for a long time and their coach was a great wrestler back in his day, but the drop off after them is very big. Not sure if I understand the part abt sending 5th or 6th place kids. I DO think some 5th and 6th place kids in other regions could/would have placed if they were in another region, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. They prob would have gotten a medal at said region tournament, but most likely would have been 2 or possibly 3 and out at the State Tournament. Was this what you were referring to?
  11. Bump, you forget to reply to my question abt family in Indiana or are you too proud to claim them Hoosiers? Either way, I was just being curious abt which state you were referring to? Btw Bump, besides Kramer being the most obvious lock to win his bracket, who is your second best lock. Mine is 120 LB Palmer from Beech. His best competition may be in his own region(Isbell).
  12. Twofdr, yes, your region as a whole is just not very good. Halls is a good team and has some VERY GOOD wrestlers throughout their lineup and AC has a couple of good wrestlers but that's about it. That being said, there is a very good reason why AC made their first team duals state tournament last weekend and thats bc the 2nd best team in the region(Gibbs) decided to go win a state championship in small schools. I know it's not the coaches or kids fault that their region is about as deep as a shallow kiddie pool, but that is just the truth. Yes, you're correct in that I believe the TSSAA needs to make some adjustments/ additions to this region. I'll say it again, IF I lived near Oak Ridge and obviously I dont, you would DEF have a little more competition!!!
  13. I'm def not saying Region 7 is the toughest region to qualify for bc it has the most wrestlers. I know that depends on the level of competition for each weight class in that region. However, what I am saying is that it would be much easier to qualify for JUST ABOUT ANY, IF NOT ALL weight classes in region 2 as opposed to any of the other 7 regions.
  14. Yes, I agree that the Reg 4 145LB bracket had 4 very good wrestlers in it. Was just pointing out the fact that one region only had 13 kids in the entire tournament who didn't qualify for the state tournament in ALL 14 WEIGHT CLASSES COMBINED.
  15. Did some looking into which regions were toughest to come out of and added up all the wrestlers in each region who DID NOT advance to the State Tournament. My math may be a little off but it's pretty dang close. Please feel free to double check me and see what you come up with. Region 1- 44 wrestlers didn't advance Region 2- 13 ( yes, ONLY 13 wrestlers didn't qualify for the State Tournament in all 14 weight classes put together)!!! That's (5) 4 man brackets where everyone advanced and there were (6) 5 man brackets where all but 1 qualified. 7 man bracket at 195 was deepest bracket. Region 3- 29 wrestlers didn't qualify for the state tournament. Region 4- 39 wrestlers from here didn't advance past their region tournament. Region 5- 89 wrestlers didn't advance past regions. Region 6- 83 wrestlers didn't make it to state from this region. Region 7- 118 kids wrestled their last match of the season at this region tournament. I knew this region would have alot, but honestly DID NOT expect it to be almost 30 more than the next closest region. Region 8- 42 kids did not advance to the State Tournament from this region. P.S.- Some unhappy assistant or Head Coach who doesn't like his administration NEEDS to start a wrestling program at Oak Ridge HS today!!! I PROMISE that you will be COMPETITVE TOMORROW with all the athletes walking the halls there, even if you end up in Region 3, and especially if you can get into Region 2!!!!
  16. Bump, your people happen to be Hoosiers? If so, they DEFINITELY EARN their way to the HS State Tournament!!!
  17. Noticed Hurley from W.V. is not in the brackets and Buck has been wrestling in his place. What happened to him?
  18. From what I've been told, it's more like what they used to do in TNAAU. Was told there would be no true 2nd at AAU state this year bc they wanted to highlight the finals, but they would have true 2nd at the AAU region tournaments.
  19. 1st rd 1) Cleveland over Centennial 2)WC over WB 3)Blackman over DB 4)Arlington over AC 5)Soddy over BW- I wanna have a good seat for this matchup 6) Heritage over Houston 7) Beech over Halls- if Beech wins here, they will go much further than expected considering the injuries. If not- they are 3 and out after match 22 8) SH over Oakland Quarters 9) Cleveland over WC 11) Arlington over Blackmon 13) Soddy over Heritage 15) SH over Beech 1st rd consi's 10) Centennial over WB 12) DB over AC 14) BW over Houston 16) Halls over Oakland 2nd round consi's 18) Beech over Centennial 19) Heritage over DB 21) Blackmon over BW 22) WC over Halls Semi's 17) Cleveland over Arlington 20) SH over Soddy- could be flipped 3rd round consi's 23) Beech over Heritage 24) WC over Blackmon Consi semis 25) Beech over Arlington- I flipped a coin 26) Soddy over WC Consi finals 27) Soddy over Beech Finals 28) Cleveland over SH
  20. I know they don't have any "studs" on this team and are down this year compared to previous years but I do think they can keep it close, especially if they get choice in a couple of matches. I've been wrong before on way more important stuff but I honestly think it's gonna be MUCH closer than most people expect. Btw, you're not raining on my parade, and if you did, it would still proceed as planned.
  21. My not so conventional picks. I know Gibbs is a very good team, but I'm not ready to hand them the trophy just yet like many seem inclined to do. Round 1: Greeneville over Signal Mtn- Signal Mtn doesn't have enough after the lightweights to win this match. Fairview over Nolensville- Coach Derrick did his best Coach Gossett impression during the regular season when he wrestled Coach Peck's squad. Those scores are VERY misleading! Fairview wins when everyone wrestles. Hixson over Gibbs- Hixson wins a very close match bc they keep from giving up 6's to a few of Gibbs better wrestlers. My LEAST CONFIDENT 1ST RD PICK!!! Greenbrier over Alcoa- Coach Gossett does his best with what he has but it isn't enough to beat Greenbrier. 1st rd Consolation: Gibbs over Alcoa- Gibbs just better Nolensville over Signal Mtn- Coach Peck's small guys keep it close til help arrives with the middle and heavyweights. Semis: Greeneville over Fairview- Closer than many may expect but Fairview doesn't have enough experience yet in the very small weights. Greenbrier over Hixson- Coach Reynolds Bobcats have enough studs to beat a solid Hixson team Consolation Semis: Gibbs over Fairview- Potential to have a few very good (IND state tourney blood/medal round worthy) matches that will be very intersting, depending on each coaches strategy and choice. Hixson over Nolensville- Hixson just too solid top to bottom. Consolation Finals: Gibbs over Hixson- Gibbs get revenge. Finals: Greenbrier over Greeneville- Top team in A/AA doesn't need the extra 'E' to prove they're the best.
  22. I was thinking the same thing Snapdown, especially if they can get choice in a few key matchups.
  23. Pretty sure that Robert Mannier wrestled 2 years at St Paris Graham where he was JV behind Bo Jordan and then transferred to the school in Germany for his last 2 years of HS where Minnesota coached him.
  24. SH placed 3rd last year, Cleveland got beat by Bradley in the finals, so Cleveland is the highest returning seed and SH is the 2nd best returning seed.
  25. Johnny, Thank you for the clarification! Looks like Nolensville is gonna move up with the big dogs sonner than I thought. Looks like all the A-AA coaches just need to focus on Bubba's boys for the next SEVERAL years and forget about Nolensville.
