  1. Bump11- I know Summit is solid but I just don't see but a couple of places where Summit scores bonus pts. Even winning every match from 38-70(I'm giving them 3 of the 5 bc that's the heart of their team) won't be enough without some MAJOR upsets in the heavyweight classes. Cleveland rarely gives up bonus points and Summit will need to score a lot when you are wrestling against a team with Bowers, Pond, Landers, and Hicks spread throughout a lineup with several other solid wrestlers who make for an outstanding supporting cast. IMO, Summit will have wrestled very well if they reach 27pts, obviously not counting forfeits if match is out of reach.
  2. I think you're right Goolywhopper. I just feel sorry for the loser of Greenbrier/Alcoa bc they're catching the Greeneville/Hixson loser, both of whom I believe will medal.
  3. I'm taking King teamed up with Landers, McElhaney, or Hutchins over Boykin or Sammy in my lb for lb match every day of the week. NO disrespect whatsoever to either of the 2 "big fellas", I just don't see them winning when you look at it from that persective!
  4. Shmeat01- I believe you may be a little under the weather and will have an excused absence from school tomorrow, but I still want to know what wgt classes you think Summit is going to win and/or Cleveland loses?
  5. Anyone but me notice the 52lb class is the common wgt in all 3 divisions and that small schools and D2 have the cornbread fed hosses at 82, 95, 220 and HWT?
  6. Does anyone know what happened to Gregory from Hixson and Groomes from GVille? Did they get beat out, injured, or what happened with those two guys?
  7. I think Greeneville and Hixson are very good teams as well. Why does everyone keep underestimating Hixson and Greeneville or am I giving them both too much credit. They both have a handful of studs as well as some other good "role players". Someone shoot back from the NE and SE corners of the state.
  8. Werazzlin, I believe you are correct in that Flynn was an 8th grader last year. I think the reason he has a "red-shirt" yr this season was probably more related to academics and nothing at all related to athletics.
  9. Bump, NO probably about it. You are spot on!
  10. Bump, track is wrong. Ford from GB stuck WH kid.
  11. Hamblen, Agree with everything except Greeneville instead of Alcoa in top 4. Not sure abt order but PF, Hixson, Greeneville and Greenbrier are my top 4 picks.
  12. Greenbrier over Cheatham Co. in finals. GB forfeits out after it's 45-9.
  13. Start it up Boogie. Let us see whatcha thinkin'.
  14. AC, I understand now where you're coming from. Anything outside of the Tri-Cities all the way to the Shelby County line is considered a mid-state area team. Some geography majors on here may disagree with your geographical assesment of our state, but you make a valid point about the Big 3 in 'Nooga. IMO, you are exactly correct in that abt 8-10 teams have a legitimate shot at finishing third or fourth this season. I've already stated on here before that I believe 1st and 2nd places are locked up, but there are several teams that could take home some hardware as well, depending on who wrestles the best that weekend. The gap this season between the third best team and the tenth best team is very narrow. Good Luck to All!
  15. AC, Why such disdain for the guys in the middle of the state? I thought you were a REG 1 guy?
  16. Cobra- I think everyone in the state KNOWS that BC and Cleveland are by far the 2 best teams in the state this yr. Both should obviously run through everyone else on the way to a well anticipated finals showdown. I know the other 14 coaches would probably never say this to their teams or anyone else for that matter, but they should know by now that they are wrestling for third place this yr. There will be 14 coaches around the state praying that their team draws anyone but BC or Cleveland in the first rd. Whomever finishes in third this year will have coached their team to the best of it's ability and should be very happy to have finished third, "if" they coach with their brain and not their heart.
  17. I know. Obviously Bump should have listed Blackman. I honestly believe it will be Blackman first and you guys 2nd coming out of REG.5. I understand you were giving Riverdale some props. I was at your Red Hawk Rampage for a while and was impressed with your team. They are a well coached group of wrestlers. You are doing a great job. Keep up the good work CoachG
  18. CoachG- To be fair to Bump, I believe you were the person who told us a week ago to not count out Riverdale. I would say he def took your advice.
  19. CoachG, I'm pretty sure Bump may have forgotten abt Blackman, or he thought Boykin was gonna wrestle at least 7 wgt classes. Give him some time, he'll come around.
  20. So the Irish had the scabies, and now they have the bird flu? What's going on with them?
  21. Kitty-NW and Mt Juliet are still chasing WC and Beech. NW outscored Beech last weekend down in AL, but you correct in that Beech's 170 didn't wrestle. Beech def scores more with him in their lineup.
  22. Was looking at TSSAA enrollment numbers and noticed that Page has 1123 students. This seemed like A lot to be considered "a small school". Beech, for example, only has 1139. I looked at other schools with similar enrollment numbers and found several "large" schools with less than or a similar amount of students as Page. Gibbs-1009,Hillwood-1103, Lawrence Co-1082, Kenwood-1163, Overton-1184, Seymour-1102,Springfield-1081, Stone Memorial-1061, Tennessee High-1190, and Tullahoma with 1042 students. Also looked up a few other "small schools" enrollment numbers and found they all have less than 1,000 kids. Ex's. Greenbrier-833, Greeneville-913, Hixson-941, Pigeon Forge-741, and Red Bank-785. This didn't happen overnight. How is Page still competing in A/AA? Maybe the teams at Tullahoma, Lawrence Co, Gibbs, and others should ask if they can compete in A/AA this year as well. We could even put Tennessee High and Beech in there while we're at it. Their enrollment numbers are fairly similar to Page's. Please feel free to comment or enlighten me how they have continued to wrestle in the A/AA classification. Sincerly, FARGOSTRUT
  23. Sports fan, I believe Bobcat Coach had them around the #5 spot in the rankings he put out last month.
