  1. You are wrong - because if you had looked at the dates of the previous posts ... They are from 2005 not this year.
  2. What scares me about this game is all the distractions of Homecoming.....
  3. The best place to go and get results is www.tennesseerunner.com, however, you will not find the meet that you look for because they don't run until Friday, May 12. The entry lists are currently posted and I will send results to them after the meet.
  4. I have just sent the results to www.tennesseerunner.com today (Sunday). They are going to post them this afternoon.
  5. This 100+ scoring is a joke just like Cheryl Miller & Lisa Leslie doing it back in their day. If anyone bothered to check the opponent they are probably some very weak program that offered themselves up as a sacrificial lamb for such an effort. I'll be willing to bet this girl rarely left the offensive end and the whole game was a setup for her to score that many. I would never take her on a TEAM of mine.
  6. I don't like it either but it will never change now. The Atlantic Sun Conference has their "Game of the Week" televised on Friday nights so I suspect that Lipscomb-Belmont will be on TV. CSS not ESPN.
  7. I think the Boone/Eufaula score was 74-44 Eufaula. Report was that Boone played awful but probably could not have won even with a great game. Eufaula is very athletic and dominated in post especially. From reports I got Siegel will have their hands full. Good luck. If anyone hears Thursday's Boone score please pass along. Thanks.
  8. Does anyone have a report on Daniel Boone's game Wednesday? Eufaula is a tough opponent plus the Lady Blazers played last night against Volunteer and then traveled with a very late arrival time. Their legs may be a little dead.
  9. Knoxville has both CAK (Christian Academy of Knoxville) and Grace Christian Academy while Chattanooga has Grace Baptist Academy. This thread is spinning my head. I think I'll head down to the local day care center and pick me up a crop of them there state champions for 2015......
  10. Boone vs South should be a great game if both come to play. For those of you expecting that stopping Hicks will be the key to the game consider this...In 10 of Boone's 11 games he has not been stopped. That is a credit to not only Sky but also his teammates. He was held to 46 vs Sullivan North but North dominated that game on both sides of the ball. Turnovers got North started and Boone never got on track. If North had played like that all year folks might have been talking about them and not South/Boone. Even MoWest gave 160+ yards to Sky. But Sky is not Boone's only weapon - their QB Huff is excellent at running the offense and has had some big running nights while Masters also provides a good punch. Masters had 100 on Cherokee almost before Sky touched the ball. The Blazer defense has played well all year. Boone has the best speed they have ever had. Boone has also played well on special teams. While Sky get the publicity because of his numbers this Boone team is probably the best TEAM that Boone has ever had. They play together well on both sides. I'm not predicting either way but I am am sure that it will be more of a game that some South fans expect. For those of your wanting some Boone numbers: Hicks 53% of carries - 63% of yards gained Huff - 6 TD passes - not bad for a team that only averages 5 passes per game, 400 + yards rushing Masters - 3 returns for TD on special teams, 300+ yards rushing Defense - 9 int with 2 returned for score Hicks by game - South Greene (22-147) 6.7 yards per carry, 1 TD Greeneville (14-221) 15.8 ypc, 2 TD Sullivan Central (26-184) 7.1 ypc, 1 TD Cherokee (14-163) 11.7 ypc, 3 TD Sullivan North (14-46) 3.3 ypc, 0 TD Cocke County (20-121) 6.1 ypc, 2 TD Morristown West (27-167) 6.2 ypc, 2 TD Volunteer (22-242) 11.0 ypc, 4 TD David Crockett (19-141) 7.5 ypc, 5 TD Morristown East (33-215) 6.5 ypc, 2 TD Elizabethton (28-250) 8.9 ypc, 3 TD Season (239-1897) 7.9 ypc, 25 TD
  11. USJ did not win. It was USJC - University School - Johnson City.
  12. Sky Hicks of Daniel Boone currently (after 9 games) has 1432 yards on 178 carries plus he has 20 TD's. Could go over 4000 for career on Thursday night vs Morristown East.
  13. Sounds to me like you have the same mentality that schools in SW Virginia have regarding small communities. If you are seeing that type of small community attitude down on Crockett's side (Lamar vs Jonesborough etc) then it is no wonder that the DC program has been down like it is. Consolidation happened in 1971 so I think it is about time to get over it. At Boone you don't see hatred for others based on community. Sure in middle school you want to beat your local rival but when you get to HS it is time to get with the program. And for the guy who started all this: I'll have to look it up but I believe the overall record for this annual matchup is something like Boone 27 wins - Crockett 7 My prediction is 45-7 and could be worse but Boone will not rub it in as they have some class about them.
  14. Courtney Barnett proved it at state taking both the Discus(129-11) and shot put(39-0.5).
  15. Results for the Times-News Relays are posted at several places: www.awardsandimages.com www.timesnews.net www.milestat.com Ashton did go 2:14.69 to break Laura McSpadden's record 1986 record of 2:15.9. Laura's brother Bill was on hand to witness the moment. Laura still has 400 record at 56.6. Megan Lyons of Greenville continues to impress me in hurdles especially her 14.57 run in 100H. Courtney Barnett of Sullivan Central came up with big 18" PR in shot at 37-3 and also took discus win.
  16. Results for the 2005 Outback Steakhouse/Dan Crowe Relays are now posted at Awards & Images The Northeast Tennessee/Southwest Virginia Rankings have also been updated.
  17. You can pull them off my site at Awards & Images My temperature is finally above freezing...........
  18. You mean the Mountain "Frozen" Lakes Meet don't you. I'm still trying to thaw out. Nothing major happened because of the ever changing weather - rain, wind, sun, and even hail.
  19. Here is how the “qualifying standards” for the sectional meet work in 1-AAA. Originally when the current alignment was set up for 4 regionals (now called sectionals) the coaches in 1-AAA realized that with around 35 teams in our area we would have a meet of massive size and decided to modify how athletes “qualified” for the sectional. A look at past results was made and a set of standards was established. I don’t remember what the original criteria was but I think it was something like the average of the 8th place mark from the previous 3 years. We also created small “district-type” meets of 5-6 schools that fed the sectional. After 3-4 years we eliminated the “district” meet and went straight with standards. It has worked well and most coaches follow the standards when entering their athletes. Now, if a coach wanted to enter a full team in the meet they could and we can’t stop them but that really has never been a problem. Sometimes, coaches will enter a kid in the meet that has worked hard and is very close to the standard but just missed and that also has never been a problem. A couple of times we started getting some bigger numbers in an event due to the “close” entries but we just lowered the standard next year and eliminated that. From time to time we get some bogus marks turned in (something kenwood referred to) that can have a major effect on seeding. However, since more and more of our meets are having results posted on the internet and having FAT times it has become harder to fake a time. For example one team a couple of years ago turned in 2 runners in the 100 at 10.5 and 10.6. Now I had done the FAT timing of a couple of meets they were in and their times were more like 11.6 and 11.9, so I questioned where their marks were set at. They indicated a meet in Kentucky which I was able to track down and confirm that their marks at that meet were close to the times that I had gotten for them. I then informed the coach that his runners were going to be seeded at the best time that I could document. Both the coach and the AD were furious but ended up admitting that the times were ran in a home dual meet. I suspect that the 10.5 and 10.6 were 100 yard not meter times. The two runners ended up running right at their proper seed marks in the sectional. It is just something we have to watch unless we can come up with a database that tracks all the major meets. We run no prelims with everything being sections vs times with fast and slow sections. Most events will only be 2 sections and only on rare occasions have we ran 3 sections in a race. Our sectional meet has never been anything but a one day meet. Another key to controlling the length of the meet is track size. An 8 or 9 lane track will do wonders compared to a six lane one. A few years back Section 1 – A/AA was having 2 day monster meets and they finally went to standards and it worked well for them also. However they have now had a change in their format that created regionals feeding a sectional which I have reservations about. I hope I did not confuse you but tried to give a little background on how standards have worked for us in 1-AAA. Now, if we could just get standards into the state meet……
  20. I doubt sumthrow103 is defending state champ as the A-AA state champ throws in 120 range.
