  1. Not sure that is true. I had heard that she just finished up her master's degree and I had heard the final part of it was an internship which she did most of it through her spring break. From what I have heard, she was screwed over there because the administration caved to politics. must not be a backbone in the leadership there. Sounds like either the administration or the political pull the new coach had to worm her way in there is trying to make excuses to not look as bad as they should.
  2. If she is smart she would not consider that. She is a good coach and she needs to be somewhere that she can continue to grow and improve, Grundy is not such a place.
  3. Which one? Didn't realize the Grundy job was open.
  4. You are correct, but as it has been said before, basketball is a 2nd at best, probably more like 3rd ranked boys sport there. That district is wide open. Didn't realize that Coffee had gotten any kids from there, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did especially if they were one sport only kids. Football and usually baseball is better at Tullahoma, but basketball is rarely ever better.
  5. And I have heard that that is part of the problem there especially with a freshman and his parents. Heard that is why it took so long to get this filled. It will be interesting to see what happens with it.
  6. Don't know if that is true or not. All I know is that I had heard of only 3 interviews.
  7. I do think it is funny that neither of the assistants, not named Helton, has not been brought up in any of the discussion for this spot.
  8. No, he hasn't been offered the job yet. Gill from Rhea Co. interviewed on Tuesday, Edmondson from Cascade interviewed yesterday, and from what I have been told, the last interview is today and it Amber George/Gilliam, the coach from Dechard Elementary.
  9. What I had heard was that Bean, the director, wants the new coach to only coach 1 sport. The fact that Holt is the head softball, but assistant basketball would fall in line with this since he is not the head coach of 2 sports. Also the old Tullahoma coach is the one that was let go before he ever coached a game, I think it was rumored that he had gotten in some trouble for some marijuana and that cost him his job there at Tullahoma. I think once he was let go from there he ended up at Stewart's Creek last year as an assistant.
  10. I figure that once his son is in college that he will get the urge to coach again. Would be surprised if he didn't.
  11. Any word on any openings that are coming up for next year yet?
  12. That would be no. You can only run the baseline on a made shot, and the 2nd free throw wasn't made. I am guessing that they needed to miss and get a rebound in this situation.
  13. So with most of the teams around the state done, any word on who maybe getting new leadership within their programs?
  14. Thanks for the reply, but I think I have found another team closer to us that he will be a good fit on. Thanks again.
  15. Coffee/Franklin should be a good one and for first place in the district too.
  16. That is not just a money grab scheme. My daughter needs someone who will work with her and help her to improve.
  17. Any suggestions for a very solid fundamentally sound 10U program around the Middle TN area? My son is a lefty and is learning to pitch and he can play anywhere else on the field.
  18. Think you might be right on all of those except one, Tullahoma and Lincoln Co. Tullahoma is still not very good, they just caught Oakland at the right time. From what I have heard Oakland's girls was looking right on past that game and thought that they could just show up and win. Lincoln Co. will have something for them tonight.
  19. Wow, you actually counted that? LOL!
  20. I think this maybe a little more accurate as far as Shelbyville goes. Coach Southern did a really good job last year without having much time with the girls at all in the summer, but she had 2 kids that were really nice players. The Holt girl could score. I don't think that she has that luxury this year, but she is a good coach and I figure will get the most out of what she has to work with. Just not sure that the talent that is there right now matches up very well with that of the other 3 top teams in the district.
  21. That's what I heard too yesterday after the discussion was posted. Still kind of sucks to finish runner up in your tournament and not get to move on though. Glad they don't do that in basketball... LOL!
  22. See I thought that the district tournament champion and runner up moved on to the regional tournament. Lincoln Co. won the district regular season title, but was put out by Columbia as the article above says in the district tournament. Columbia then went on to beat Coffee Co. in the district tournament championship game. Never heard of the district tournament champion and regular season champion moving on to regionals in anything.
  23. The problem is that if you open it up like that then you end up with recruiting going on in a much bigger way than it does now. Most kids that are good enough, like Duncan, aren't getting their college looks during the high school season. Those looks are coming from AAU ball these days. She plays in a well known AAU program, TN Flight I think. Her college looks will come from that not Tullahoma. The other part of this is that her and her family chose Tullahoma to start with. They knew what the program was like when they went there, since they are from Manchester, she played at Coffee Co. Middle, and have been aware of the team(s) in Tullahoma the whole time. They already made their choice and it was to not play for Horton, former Coffee Co. coach, at the time she came out of the 8th grade which is when the TSSAA allows a student to move and play anywhere in the state that they choose. Tullahoma will never be a basketball town. It will always be baseball first, football second, and then everything else.
  24. I know there are a few posted on the tssaa website, but are there more that may not be posted there yet? Do any of these openings have any front runners for them yet?
  25. No. I think that was what was said for the girls coach, Coach Slatten, and the football coach at the time, but not the boys coach, Coach King. He was there for a long time since back before I saw him coach there in 2003. I understand that doesnt really look good, but this little town always shows up for its girl's basketball games. I have heard about the people there in the community coming in and getting there seats set up at 3:30 for a 6 pm game. They really do love their basketball there. That is what I was meaning. Are there issues there, I would bet that there are, but they do support their girls basketball team.
