  1. My guess is that this being the beginning of Coach Buck's era, it is an effort to educate those in the Knoxville area about the new kid on the block. Good press and a little less info on Farragut leaves for a more balanced menu. Everyone knows that Farragut does the down low on news about it's program to keep the player's heads on straight. However, nothing wrong with pumping up the program of a new coach to get things going in the right direction for him. Farragut will get their customary 4-5 college scholarships and other schools should be able to benefit from extra publicity.
  2. South Doyle vs. Farragut tomorrow at 5:00 pm at John Heatherly Field.
  3. Honestly, How many pitches would you allow a high school player to throw? If it's anywhere over 110-120, you shouldn't be a coach. The pitcher obviously doesn't have proper control and needs to be relieved anyway. Froning has consistently allowed players to throw 150-200 pitches on consecutive days. This is inexcusable from a former AA (?) pitcher who is a math teacher and should be able to count how many innings a pitcher throws a pitch (4 from the night before and 7 that day). That equals 11, which is greater than 10, which is in violation of the rules, which he knew, since he was informed the inning before by others. Caught up in the moment...yeah right. This is unacceptable behavior from someone in a AAA class school. The Halls coach used the tools available to him, which is a credit to him. Froning did not, which is a discredit to him. Too bad the players have to put up with this nonsense. Another question...where was the parent of the young man who threw that many pitches? Don't they care enough about their child to protect him from the "Coach"? What a joke!!!
  4. It takes a little time to get a handle on the chemistry thing, and how quickly the team gels. It did a little of both this weekend. Opportunities presented themselves and they went by unnoticed...runners on base and not the usual opportune hitting. The sleeping giant awoke the next day and the seniors obviously took control. The juniors took notice and the sophomores and freshmen followed. The team is coming together.
  5. Hmmmm...maturity...physically, mentally and emotionally? Not everyone jumps ship based on physical ability. Ask his Mom and Dad what they think. Also, he made two plays (both alike) this weekend in the finals of the Scenic City Classic that were just ridiculous... no one else on the high school level...and I mean no one...makes those plays. Going up the middle full throttle, spin move and a strike to first. Are you kidding me...he looked like a figure skater. WOW!!!
  6. 3/18/05; South Doyle - 4, Collierville - 3 Collierville - 7, FHS - 4 Someone needs to tell Collierville about respecting those FHS Ads. A good hitting team that Collierville, but respect still has to be earned. That FHS pitching corp is still developing, and more work is still to come. A chink in the armor, but it's early. Probably a motivational loss that I'm sure they will rebound from.

    scrimmage scores?

FHS 12(?) - Cumberland County 1 The Admiral arms are warming up! The bats will follow.
  8. Final score: FHS 12(?) - CC 1
  9. Fair enough...but hope you get out to see him play sometime. More recently, he stretches singles into doubles, throws from the hole lazeresk style, makes the play up the middle routine and scores from second sliding around the plate. Truly an inspiration for anyone watching the game. He does have fun!!
  10. The only thing I saw mentioned in the original line was hitting statistics...nothing about arm strength, speed, fielding, etc. Last time I checked, the shortstop position had do do with all around play, as does most of the other positions. If you opened up your eyes to the world around you and got out a little more, you would know who the best shortstop was...Tony D at the FHS.
  11. This is a team that TP has questions on chemistry...which is different from the 03 and 04 teams. Obviously, there is great respect for the Farragut program...it's just that this lineup is presently not as strong up and down as has been in the past. Looking for great things from those that contribute and hope the seniors that are left can bring them along.
  12. Farragut will have to earn some respect starting into this new season. Hard to beat the last two years, but the bats have taken an early hit and pitching is still yet to be solidified...although the younger guys are stepping it up. Stayed tuned for more.
  13. Tony has nothing to loose by moving on and needs to play with players above his level to get better...chalk up the high school time playing now to paying dues. Maturity issues will keep him from going pro for a few years. I'm sure he and his family have a calculated path for him to travel. You're right about not rushing it. Lotta talent!!!
