  1. Bearden is definitely much improved from last year. That running back is an absolute stud. I agree that they have some great coaches, but they do have one flaw I noticed. I saw them in the Farragut game absolutely lose their composure when things went wrong. I'm not talking in a way of just showing frustration. They were yelling and screaming at one another on the sideline, in a way that almost looked like finger-pointing, telling each other it was the others fault for the struggles. However, they were able to rebound and pull that game out. But, the coaches can't do that in front of their kids against a team like Maryville. The players will all ready feel enough pressure from it being a playoff game on the road, and if they see coaches losing composure that only adds unnecessary pressure. I hope it's a good game. Should help Bearden that Maryville is a little banged up. Best of luck to both teams.
  2. In my opinion, Central wins and it isn't even close. 35-7.
  3. No, I played football for as long as I could. I understand everything that goes into it.
  4. I'm just saying, talent will win games early in a tenure to build momentum for a program. The culture and community don't come unless you win. And you can't win early at a program without talent.
  5. Never once a day in my life. Did you? I thought this was a soccer forum.
  6. They matter, but some really bad coaches have won a lot of football games because their players were more talented. Those things matter, but talent is equally as important.
  7. There truly is no reasoning with you lol Nobody is saying spot points, tying arms, giving trophies, or handing out free wins. They are just debating on a system that would provide a more competitive product across the board. If you view it as an "upward" approach, there's nothing anyone can do for you.
  8. I don't think that's what he's getting at. I think he means just leveling the field for a more competitive product.
  9. Smaller than I thought. The way you talk, I figured you had to be at least 5'8 290 lbs.
  10. I'm not a Heritage fan. I didn't give anything, but my objective opinion. Just letting you know your AD and non-football coaches decide to play Heritage/WB in other sports. It's not just the decision of Heritage/WB. If you don't like the fact they don't play in football, go to your AD and tell him.
  11. They don't expect anything. Your AD and HC's decide if they play in the other sports lol so if you're mad about Heritage and WB playing Alcoa in other sports and not football, go complain to those folks.
  12. Wanna meet up and find out? Maybe I'll teach you a thing or two. lol
  13. You better slow down, 91. The next thing he will do is tell you to come meet him in person so you can "handle some business" lol
  14. So, you're saying a guy like Tim Hammontree, doesn't work hard, isn't committed, and is afraid of competition? If that's what you believe the you have obviously never met the man. The only thing that generates excitement is winning games. Playing an non-region game vs. Alcoa doesn't make a program better if there is no chance of competing. The idea that not playing Alcoa is a reason Heritage is unsuccessful is pretty silly. The only good thing that comes from that is the gate money.
  15. So, are you saying the coaching staff had nothing to do with it? It was strictly based on being 5A? I agree that helped, but those Heritage teams weren't beating some of the teams they played on just talent alone. They weren't talented enough to do that.
  16. That's a fair point, but I don't think they are responsible for all of the blame. If players don't want to work, they won't. I'm just saying if thats the case, people shouldn't be on here praising kids for just going somewhere and halfway doing something. Their future employers certainly won't. I'm just going off what I know from a friend who is close to the program. If it is the coaching staffs inability to relate, what do you think changed in their approach? This is basically the same staff that seemed to have Heritage improving just a few years prior.
  17. I get the point behind what you're saying about being proud for sticking it out, but should they be proud of just sticking it out, if they aren't actually working hard? I've got a friend who is close to the program, and he tells me that the coaches are frustrated because the kids simply give no effort in practice and are extremely uncoachable. You can't mistake activity for achievement.
  18. AC's ones are good enough to keep it close for maybe a quarter. I watched them last week and their two's aren't good at all. If any starter gets hurt, it'll be a bloodbath from the jump.
  19. I'm going just so I can see the faces of the AC fans when the score looks like this.
  20. Cummings has a hard time beating Bradley. If you coach Cleveland and lose to Bradley, you're not gonna keep that job for too long.
