  1. I actually lived a few miles from East robertson High School but played and went to White House High. The agreement was that if you address was a White House address (which mine technically was), you went to White House schools. This extended past Cross Roads Market down 76 towards Springfield for quite a few miles. I could name you countless players that were within minutes of East and we were bussed to White House because our actual physical address was White House TN. In fact I would say the majority of the ball players when I played actually lived on the Robertson Co side since 31 W splits Robertson and Sumner Co. Anyhow; that was the agreement for a very long time bc White House was such a small town for so many years it just made sense to do that. The reason the agreement was not renewed had to do with taxes or something like that. Robertson Co wasn't getting what Sumner was or something to that affect bc of the agreement.
  2. Has WH showed anything at the scrimmages at all? Are they still running somewhat of a spread in shotgun or have they switched offenses back to a more traditional offense?
  3. They interviewed people this week but I would be very surprised if it weren't Pond.
  4. I am not being negative. I am being realistic. I like him but I think Nixon was an average high school qb at best. He was an above average White House QB bc of statistics. I mean even his statistics were still only a little over 1000 passing yards a year. Depending on playoffs he probably averaged somewhere around 80-90 passing yards a game. However; the statistic that really matters was not very good and thats his record as a starter. His overall record as a player was a losing record. He missed the playoffs 3 of the 4 years he was at WH. We have come to accept average or a little above average as being ok at WH. When I played there if we lost 2-3 games in the regular season that was a big let down. Our defense was always solid and we were built on a solid running game with a complimentary passing game. I think the 10-0 team had an extremely easy schedule to be frank. This really showed itself in the playoffs that year when they should have been beat in the first round but came back in a miracle and was destroyed in the second round. Does going 10-0 really matter if you get waxed in the second round? I don't think so/ They set the schedule up like that bc the year before the team was horrific and mentally weak. That team the year before just gave up to be honest. I also believe this past year the team gave up at times. This is my honest opinion and the facts back it up. Cope I really want the Blue Devils to be good. I really do I can promise you that. Im just very very pessimistic about this team with everything that has happened. I believe it will be very tough on the new coaching staff. I haven't heard anything but I am assuming they still haven't hired a DC or other assistant coaches? They have to fill this coaching staff out asap bc it will hurt them greatly. The DC has to start implementing his defense now with the kids and during spring practice. If they don't get one til summer, I can guarantee they won't win more than 5 games. The reason our teams had always been great through the 90s and early 2000s was because of the assistant coaches tenure. Coach Porter honestly had nothing to do with any wins. He was a joke as far as football goes but the assistants he had around him were some of the best in the business. When WH had Dawson, Grantham, Honeycutt, Newsome, and Lamberth we won games bc of great coaching. They set up game plans that exploited the other teams weaknesses. I don't believe that has been happening the last few years. We had a large turnover in coaches and just to be honest they aren't very good. Our offense has no identity which is extremely frustrating and the defense has been getting gashed over and over. I say all of that to say this. I will always be a Blue Devil and I love WH. I want to see them do great things but I just don't see it happening anytime soon. I hope they prove me wrong. I hope they use this as bulletin board material and pisses them off and they go out and prove me wrong.
  5. I am a Blue Devil through and through but I don't see us making the playoffs anytime soon. I hope I am wrong but we are losing the only offensive weapon we have had over the last few years which was the QB (and he was actually average at best). Based on what I saw of the backup last year we will be in major trouble plus I think we are going to struggle mightily in the trenches. There are just no real bright spots. I just hope I am wrong but I wouldn't count on it. Just my eval
  6. The DC from Riverdale hasn't even been interviewed from what the HC at Riverdale told me. He was contacted by ER but they never followed up with an interview. This job will be the current interims job (Atlee Pond) and he will do a great job. He is a former team mate of mine from WH and will have the team going in the right direction. They have probably the two best football players in the county this year in Swift and Groves.
  7. I agree with controlling the line of scrimmage. The line was a weak point last year. Our play calling is going to have be a lot better as well. There were so many times I was scratching my head at the play calling last year. I know its hard during the game calling plays but we have to do a better job at taking advantage of the other teams weakness. We were horrific last year at this. There were several games last year we could have won but we were simply out coached. I really hope they have a great season but in my opinion its highly unlikely. By the way Honeycutt said you were a pretty good ball player too. What year did you graduate and what number were you?
  8. If the teacher is tenured they can't be fired even if the admin wants to. Teachers are part of a union and once they are tenured which I believe is 5 years of teaching at the school; its very hard to get rid of them. This will put WH so far behind bc even if they do get coaches after the school year; they weren't a part of spring practice and haven't been working with any of the kids. Probably gonna be a really rough year this year and not only because of the lack of coaches. WH is losing their only bright spot from last year and thats their QB. I bleed blue but I wouldn't be surprised to see a 3-4 win season......
  9. From what I have heard they haven't hired anyone and won't really be able to bc they don't have the teaching positions available.
  10. I am not in the know as far as finances, I just assumed that money would start drying up. I am with you and can't believe we had missed the playoffs 3 out of 4 years. Just insane. I also agree that this DC hire is huge for Hamilton. He probably should have went after Broderick since he wanted out at East Robertson and took the Gallatin DC job. He also needs to reach out to Chase Brooks at RIverdale as DC. He will have to make some hires soon or its going to get real hard to find people to coach. I have also heard that that Jackson, Honeycutt and Porter will all remain in their teaches spots so I have no clue what he will do to find a coach from outside the school currently. It may be near impossible. Things are really up in the air in BDP land right now. I wanna see how this all plays out...........
  11. I have known Hamilton for a long time. We played ball together at WH and I have always liked Ryan, but I don't believe it was a good move letting the coaches all go. He doesn't have the available teaching positions to hire a bunch of coaches so I am assuming he is going to have to rely heavily on volunteer coaches which may be tough as well. WH has been notorious for turning their backs on past alumni and that is where the volunteers usually come from for the most part. So that will be an uphill battle for sure. It looked like Hamilton was trying to get the alumni involved somewhat with the alumni Turkey bowl, but it will take a whole more of those things to get the Alumni back involved I believe. The money has slowly been drying up there because of several reasons and that is hurting WH as well. I hope WH wins a lot of games but I do believe it is going to be very difficult. We are coming off the worst 4 year stretch they have had in quite some time. They have missed 3 out of the last 4 playoffs. The senior class this year barely finished with an overall winning record. That is just not acceptable period at White House, nor should it be acceptable. We will see what all these changes do in about 7-8 months. I hope things go well but we shall see.
  12. East has the best QB and WR in the county. They could actually be the best two overall players in the county. If you haven't seen their QB you are severely missing out. This is a team that went to the playoffs last year and will be even better this year. They will surprise a lot of teams. I expect them to compete for first in the region this year.
  13. I’ve known Honeycutt since 1998 and he is the best coach I have ever played for overall. I think it would be a HUGE hit to the program and set it back quite a bit if he isn’t back. Looking back over the past 25 years you will see this team wins with defense and during the years we have been very successful Honeycutt was running the defense. It will be hard to watch without Honeycutt on the sidelines..... I think I speak for pretty much all of the alumni.
  14. Do you know why he did it? Who did he truly want to get rid of on the staff? I am assuming thats why it was done was because he had a couple he actually wanted to go.
  15. He did fire the entire staff and told them they need to reapply.
  16. Yikes!! I don't even want to see you guys with an even better ball player. Your TB is very very good and you have a very aggressive defense. I was very impressed with both TC and Watertown when I watched them play against East. Don't get me wrong Tyner is impressive too but I just didn't come away with the WOW factor like I did when East played Watertown and TC. Who knows though it can go either way in the playoffs. I would assume turnovers will be the key for either team
  17. I have watched both Tyner and Trousdale play. This game won't be close. Trousdale will win by 14 or more points. They are a complete team and run down hill. Tyner is small on the edges and if Trousdale runs at them they will wear them down. The Tyner vs East Robertson game was a game all the way into the 4th qtr and honestly if they didn't make a couple big plays East probably wins the game. This is an unbiased East Robertson spectator opinion. Maybe Tyner had an off night but it seems they have no offensive system. Its just get the ball in the QBS hands and let him run around. Some of their play designs were just not thought out well and Trousdale is too good for those to work. Like I said I am unbiased in this evaluation. I am just basing it off of watching both teams play this year against a common opponent. Good luck to both teams and an injury free game.
  18. This is off topic but I can not believe we are already half way done with the regular season!! Nothing like high school football.
  19. Thanks man. I appreciate it. I think this will be a great game.
  20. Great. I am going to try to make it to the game but if not I want to watch online. What do you do? Just search on youtube for Springfield or what?
  21. Does Springfield broadcast live on youtube?
  22. Congratulations Springfield from all of us at White House. You all battled through injury this year and persevered. Good luck against Greeneville. They are a great team but can be beat......
  23. That was a very fun year for me as well. We only lost 2 regular season games that year and they were both 13-12 because we missed extra points. That kicker would later go on to be a very good kicker and kick in college.
  24. The previous two years were bad for WH but the 5 years prior to that, they made it to the quarterfinals which I think they were in Pearls region then too. Am I right about that?
  25. Crocket Co will get beat by Dyersburg tomorrow night.. Haywood is a good team thats for sure. Heck White House may get beat tomorrow night. Anything can happen on any given night
