  1. ECS is huge. Mr Football can't stop the CPA in hole cuts made by Reed and Whitely. Really nice day in Cookeville. I'm watching play progressions from endzone. ECS feels like they could pop this half. L side of ECS OL is coming back and they are imposing. Mav Rodriguez is most explosive on field. 14-10 is true game reflections. Ingle better tighten his clock management or
  2. field looks great at least at 3 pm when I picked my daughter up/ New drainage pipes under the field redo are working to perfection. River is way up so there was lots of water/// Sickness is not so bad for the Presbyterians this week. If Dilfer tries his 5 minute before game trick it will probably be to his detriment. CPA kids are ready and have a QB who can thrive in the wet. I am now headed to Atlanta for my daughters 13 yo vs 15 yo soccer tournament in Roswell. No pop ups by me and no game comments. Geaux Lions
  3. I left end of 3rd, CPA makes some big plays and has a QB who can play. Not true first of season and now it looks like the CPA everyone has been used to. 35-0 when I left. CCA runs what I call the Delaware wing T and has no big play makeup potential. CPA running on fumes as across the school only about half the kids made it to school for the week. Flu run wild. CCA with much bigger but fatter OL who stay inside. Maverick Rodriguez is the only CPA speed but CPA gashes CCA and makes big plays all night long. Whole CPA teams has meshed and will have to handle LA again next week as both teams have improved. CCA got real chippy to start second half and the game devolved into really ugly. CCA has a 6-7 kid who I thought could just whack CPA coverage but CCA has no qB to get him the ball. One thing that CCA unitentionally did really well was punt short and take the most dangerous CPA play which is a punt return out of the question. CPA survived and will need to get healthy to continue this run. CPA will win and move on but it was a few youngsters who got some real playing time that may make them better next year. CCA fought the whole game (literally and figuratively) but CPA is on a roll. Not much good to say about CCA offense and CPA broke some big plays and it was game over. Dilfer will carry some anger and assholedness as he is wont to be into the game and Ingle will be challenged. CCA numbers seemed small, is that a usual size squad? Final was 35-14.
  4. ugly game that was kept close by 2 refs. CPA dominated when needed. Ingle Martin not as ready as needed but CPA running game came on to set up 2 long Cade Law throws for TD's that was reminescent of OK or Tex in wishbone days. CPA gets the #1 seed and is undefeated in the Middle. The sophs are coming on and a couple of seniors are answering the final bell, so it seems deja vieux but I doubt these 4 and 6r's make the state semis. They will be a tough out. Absolutely a crew of disgust in stripes, mechanically awful and judgmentally flawed. They actually let a play that could have been a fumble or forward pass that was returned for a TD linger forever as if they thought they had a replay call coming up. Way unbalanced in penalties and the two who were most egregious were on the FRA sideline all night long. I left with 6 minutes because it was cold and the refs were just aggravating. It started out like a recapitulation of BGA but that was ended by the stripes on the second possession and then they were involved all night long. CPA had control but FRA had big play potential that would have made it interesting if the kids were allowed to play. Nice night and good rivalry. CPA, Lipscomb and BGA should do well in playoffs, not so sure about FRA. One year away from being good and two away from being true state champ contenders again.
  5. whole new drainage system, sand built up to truly firm and draining well, turf has no seams and has been down since late May. Very fast, too bad for eric gray and the Luziannes. No way this team can compete with Evangelicals to quote Boogerism. Better and better as would be expected from sophs who are the focus. Probably 8-10 freshmen who will play next year. Basketball will be better this year. BGA was undefeated, LA had one loss and only FRA is left with one loss. Ravenwood looked to hammer CPA when the year started, but problems abound so maybe it will be Brentwood like again because that was the best CPA effort of the year. Dilfer will be a difference maker for LA, but CPA is full of talent in the pipeline to come thru 2023. Last time the year played out like this, the Presbyterians made it to state semis and ran afoul of Milan. Not sure I believe SOS means as much to a high school team as it would in college, but CPA did not shrik the schedule. Lots of former stars at the LA homecoming inc Kane Patterson, Paul Smith, Bryce McCormick and many more. Tight bonds.
  6. question for those who are keeping up with seeding already? where would a 4-6 CPA be seeded as winner of middle IIAA? only wins will be in region and they should win out to be undefeated in region?
  7. 28-7 CPA (#99 in Sonny Moore) over Lipscomb (#2), not as dominant as 28-0 over BGA (better than Lipscomb), but still a no doubter. LA is much better under Dilfer, and has very sophisticated offense predicated on backside plays to take out defenses looking into the backfield. CPA is mostly sophs with a few juniors who are maturing and played really well vs Brentwood last week. Line play on both sides was won by CPA. 4 interceptions pretty much ruined LA continuity and CPA ground and pound did in the better schemed offense again. Kane Patteson little brother had a bit of a break out in front of his brother who was back for homecoming witness. LA brought a great crowd and interest is back. Dilfer is watching a lot of middle school games and could be looking for transfer help. Nothing really different, CPA runs Tyler Reed up the middle off play action which is hard to understand the opposition respecting except that Maverick Rodriguez out wide is fast and dangerous (lost another return for TD off int due to penalty. Biggest threat for CPA is Maverick returning punts or kicks. Not well officiated, but it was a fast field again. CPA did not use nearly as much time driving but were not gonna be stopped by the puny LA line once timing of offense kicked in. Kicking game was a draw but CPA pressure did a lot to cause the 4 int night for LA. Methinks the purple of CPA will hold on to superiority over the purple of LA for at least 4 more years despite big improvements by Dilfer who does dog refs hard and may gain an advantage some night with a ref who can be intimidated. Penalties also hurt LA more than CPA although both suffered.
  8. what the heck is the line excuse??? what do you think CPA played and next year there will be freshmen replacing some of these guys. Strange as it may seem, it was because Stemphiler believed so strongly in himself that CPA was able to win, CPA soph QB ran at the right time and threw at the right time. Field was fast and BGA RB's would have won the game if BGA coaches would have stuck with them instead of Stemphiler. In 2022 and 2023 then CPA will be back at peak of power in the state. Could now go undefeated in district and those be the only wins of the year. First drive was plodding as described in the paper and did take more than 10 minutes off the clock. CPA beat Indy everywhere but the scoreboard, so it is not like they were ultimate losers headed into the game. BGA was a bit overconfident especially in the stands as they should have been. CPA 8th graders are now 37-1 since the 4th grade and have beaten BA 5 times and Ensworth 5 times, lost to MBA on a TH night after beating BA on a Monday night. That is the future of CPA and some will be on the field. Only real CPA offensive threat is Maverick Rodriguez on punt returns, best I have seen in that regard at CPA ever. Noah Henderson was better on KR but Maverick can take it to the house on any punt. Actuallty caught a pass with 00:02 seconds left in first half just before Cade Law literally powered his way over 2 BGA wannabe tacklers to end the half. CPA did get back their best pass rusher from a long injury and they pressured Stemphiler hard all night long. First time all year the CPA kids played to inspire the crowd which did happen and BGA shrank worse than 3 day old violets. Could be a recapitulation of 5-5 team that made it to state semis and lost to Milan back when. http://www.williamsonherald.com/sports/football-cpa-blasts-bga-in-championship-rematch-for-first-win/article_2b634594-dc34-11e9-8cc2-6b3397063bf3.html
  9. new field is fast and firm, sod took well and it meets Ingle's expectation. New field was a criteria for him to stay. Sod has rooted and no lines or evidence of joining points. CPA will not be able to take advantage of the turf this year, not much skill position talent compared to recent past. Bigger OL and DL who probably would prefer heavy turf. What Ingle wants then Ingle gets and the field is dry and fast in August 2019.
  10. dang I love the Booger lessons, actually learn a lot and appreciate the humor. Dude you need a blog or a column somewhere.
  11. CPA constructed all over campus this summer, field first. Athletic track and parking greatly improved. Football base was always good and firm draining to the immediately adjacent Little Harpeth River. If you know thoroughbred tracks then you realize sloppy is a fast track and muddy is slow. CPA usually needs aerial success which does not do well wet field, those coming up will especially be more prone to open Ingle attack. 8th graders are the best on campus even having lost their QB to getting held back to year behind last year. Building a future platform for those kids. Future so bright, gotta wear shades. Better get the Presbyterians as Booger says this year cause they gonna catch up in a hurry. Field looks funny as a hybrid kinda but outside the lines don't matter to anyone but ESPN story tellers. Only in the Luzianne game were CPA coaches and fans grateful for slop because Mr Football was the best on the field by far and he was neutralized a lot, don't think it factors into any Nooga school thought process as to whether it is fast, sloppy or muddy.
  12. great read and accurate forecast for how game played out. http://www.williamsonherald.com/sports/article_18c30c9c-f32a-11e8-8437-6b6f2b1b21e9.html winning is usually as simple as who blocks best and who tackles best, same was true when CPA upset Lausannw. CPA dressed 85 kids last night and has just enough coming back to win their pod again IF all play well. Until 2023 this is the best group of kids that Ingle can put on the field. Bunch of them will now switch over to Drew and improve over last year's BB team.
  13. Ref crew suck. True interactive pricks. No way they got here by meritocracy.
  14. CPA best team. Chico Bennett best player so far. BGA has nothing for Noah Henderson.
  15. CPA best team. Chico Bennett best player so far. BGA has nothing for Noah Henderson.
  16. tD #4 then INt. Advantage emotion for CPA. Only neg is porky pig LJ. What is Clinch Valley Ath Assoc?
  17. field neutralized Eric Gray but what he had left was taken by Laussane QB who dominated handles and time on offense. Result was 21-14 CPA win that should have been put away before the last 2 min score that Laussane put up. Gray got 1 TD and his two Mr Football counterparts for CPA got one each. Early offensive force settled into long up the middle game for both. Turnovers and cold set in and the game was won by the usual CPA running game and OL. There was fog from the river and steam rising from each huddle up in the 4th Q. Two late fumbles kept the game going when it looked like CPA was going to make it 28-7 with about 7 minutes left in the game. Patterson played his best game of year, Elledge made plays when needed although he missed Noah Henderson on an open 9 route that probably would have iced the game. CPA player numbers were a big advantage, Laussane really big guys are slow and really drug around by the time the 4th Q rolled around. Cannot figure how Laussane did not get Eric Gray outside more, super quick but lost his feet on cuts often plus had 2 real fumbles and one more that only the refs missed. Great game to watch. Last year before Kane Patterson got hurt, it seemed like CPA could get a rematch with BGA for state title, gonna happen this year. Laussane won the getting off the bus look, but CPA stayed the course and won with just solid and smart play. I don't think Eric Gray compares to Sheffield at Independence for explosiveness. As little as Laussane uses #1 he is hard to figure as to how good he can be. Best weapon on the field was underutilized tonight.
  18. if you were reading a racing form, the track is fast sloppy definitely not muddy which means speed holds up for thoughbreds. Went by to look today when picking up my daughter and field looks just a little dark meaning water in the ground but no mud anywhere. Eric Gray advantage because speed wins on slop not a mudder. Kane has looked like a mudder all year, strange regression from when he was a FR. Noah Henderson will be very, very dangerous tonight. Best sprinter on a non-remarkable CPA track squad. CPA has 31 seniors who have been together for 4 years with no additions. Next truly good CPA team is 7th graders who are undefeated vs everyone inc BA and MBA. 2023 will be best CPA team ever. Just saying as Booger would put it, that this CPA team has no recruited additions to the high school. I have had a few conversations with CarltonFlatt who epitomized the start em in the system approach and he thinks Ricky Bowers is the best coach TN has ever produced which is more relative to the LA job and how much Ricky is worth. Only related game point is that Ingle Martin has more Ricky in him than Spurrier. I'm thinking it will be Lausanne winning based on what I saw when they played Whitehaven on stream. One thing I mentioned was CPA K is back and on target and probably good from 45 yards tonight, how good is Lausanne K? Sam West is still dinged but Andrew Madden should do well tonight to keep the CPA ground game going. McCormick at TE is finally wholly healthy and really pumped. Cold and heavy football, so CPA passing advantage probably equalized. Blocking and tackling will be the key to winning. CPA OL gettting better but DL is not and that is important because they gotta protect 4 (Kane) and McCormick (17) to make LB tackles on Eric Gray. CPA has Two good tacklers in seconday in S Sam Ellis and CP Payne Trapnall, the rest is iffy if Gray is to the second level quick. Definitely a fair field to play the game from what I sat at 3 pm. Lausanne should squeeze by into cold Cookeville. Looks like we traded Lausanne for our old nemesis Alcoa. Feels like that matchup to me and that means Lausanne would win 2 out of 3 times.
  19. the field is not mud, was dried and is still fast tonight. Water on sidelines and back of endzone, but it drains well and should be fast and firm again for Laussane. No slips and no fumbles because of field tonight. Field will be fair to speed and power.
  20. that is freaking amazing, FRA is CLEARLY less than BGA and dominated by CPA probably 10 times out of 10. Lausanne v CPA winner should be big, big favorite out of what is left.
  21. half time 49-7, no running clock and just enough wind to make it miserable at 38 degrees. CPA scored on opening kickoff and was never stopped. St Georges only had 25 kids dressed. King looks good and so do 2 Smiths, but CPA is better at every position. Ugly game for refs. Field was dried today but still mud fun for everyone. Noah Henderson had two looong TD's. Patterson and Madden ran at will, no Sam West who is still ankle injured and not dressed.. St Georges did a good job motion and scheming to get CPA defense discombobulted, especially safeties who left middle of field open for slants and skinny posts. Big deal and much needed for CPA to have Stubblefield back kicking. I left at half because it was more misery than I was willing to take. Total domination by Lions as expected.

    CPA v FRA

Could have been for top seed, but only if Wilhoite were superman like. CPA dominated early and led 31-3 at half. Final of 31-10 with lots of chippy fouls and a ref crew that made their presence felt. Good news for CPA is that they got Stubblefield their kicker back after 7 weeks out with injury. Noah Henderson and Lance W matched up head to head in 1Q as both were playing O and D. Noah was again the best CPA player for the night, Wilhoite is physically impressive but does not have a QB who could get him the ball in a timely or dangerous manner.West did not play for CPA which made for less impressive rushing attack. 2nd stringers got almost all the second half action. Early rain but then it turned out nice for football. Anyone else watched the FRA kicker/P named Norris?? Very impressive especially punting. Kid was not fazed by bad snaps and has really good leg swing. Nothing else really stand out for the night. Not a competitive matchup, easy to see how BGA dominated FRA. CPA just real methodical although Henderson had a few deep targets and made two fantastic catches while being interfered with for 44 yds and a TD plus a 36 yarder that led to CPA FG. Patterson and McCormick need to step up LB play to get through playoffs, obvious talent and occasional big plays.
  23. Pretty big group of CPA supporters watching an endzone telecast during the football game, FRA fans confused when Sylvie scored and a big applause broke out with nothing happening on the football field. Strong sophomore class predicts well for the future.. Awful TSSAA timing, they gotta know this sucked for the girls.
  24. CPA wore down Independence in a game of talented offenses, bad defenses and worse officiating. Neither team broke 70 although it looked like either could. How in the heck Notre Dame did not honor the scholarship offer to Sheffield benefits Purdue big time. Sheffield and Collier were flying all over the field and if Cash had played like he did v Brentwood last week then might have been a different winner. CPA big guys and backs were good for 10 yards a carry most of the night. I think the CPA 7th grade team (best on campus) could have scored against Indy. Ref crew were prima donnas across the board and made the game last forever. Apparently CPA holds every play and Independence chops every play according to the line judge who did truly throw more than 20 flags by himself. 12 seconds for first score by Sheffield on 87 yd KO return, then it took late into the 2nd before the refs and Indy got a non-scoring stop. CPA did not dominate block at any time, just screened and watched West, Madden and Patterson get 10-15 on simple zone reads. Elledge was off but McCormick and Henderson were on. Kane Patterson still looks hurt and how he had an Ohio State and now Clemson offer is hard to believe. Classic CPA methodical and Indy quick strike flash all night. Turnovers were not many but were the difference in the end because neither D could stop the other to save their life. Lots of individual talent on the field and Indy should be an offensive power next year with Collier and Cash. Hard to explain how the best on the field was the CPA OL when they got at least 10 accepted holding calls. They still dominated and had Indy with hands on hips from the late 3rd Q on.
  25. it was a good game where the CPA OL won the game. 31-20 after being 24-14 at half. Elledge was the best QB on the field, best player was Noah Henderson. McCormick, Patterson and Henderson are all nicked up but play through it. BGA had the outside speed edge much like last week. The RPO read and cutback was money all night for CPA. Absolutely awful referee mechanics tonight. Play clock was set really quick and both teams usually had about 12-15 seconds on the clock when marked ready for play. CPA had two no scores in the redzone to start second half and at beginning of 4th it looked like BGA could pull it out. BGA punting sucked, so they went for every 4th down after the 1Q. Really competitive game that was won on the inside contrary to everyone's pregame expectation. Both teams put good outside pressure on the passers, but the CPA duo of Madden and West were pretty much unstoppable. Patterson had a few really strong runs that kept CPA dominant and in control of the momentum and clock. Surprisingly CPA had a bigger crowd than BGA despite both teams being undefeated and all the state champ barriers from the 90's for BGA. Looks like CPA has a pretty clear district path since FRA is late and at home. Coach Batten could finish with only one loss easily, has talent in the skill positions that should win most Friday night matchups.
