  1. They might get by them but I don’t really see it, and here’s why. SC returns most of their key pieces off a team that made a deep playoff run last year, WH Blue Devils are really hot right now and I don’t see them cooling off before the playoffs. Waverly is tough, bringing back a lot from a Semifinalist team, albeit 2A, still a semi-finalist. Fairview is just tough year in and year out, always a threat to win the region. I see heritage dropping 4 out of their last 5 to the above mentioned teams. I wish them the best and I could be wrong but I don’t see it.
  2. That’s exactly the way I see it playing out in this region too.
  3. Still no excuse for that field to look like that. To much history at that place for it to not be cared for properly. I’m not saying Augusta type care but at least a little pride. Most of us on this forum either played on that field or have very fond memories from it.
  4. What’s going on is you have a goober for a head middle school coach sounds like.
  5. Had to be Springfield. I’m curious to see what happens to Boyce Smith field, since there will be no “true” middle school in Springfield in a couple years. The magnet school is a great concept, but using SMS to house it is a terrible idea. School leaders really dropped the ball on that.
  6. Fairview by a couple of TD’s in this one. They are the more sound team imho
  7. I’d say Henry County/Springfield 1 or 2, then 3-4 is a toss up between Portland, NE, and Kenwood. The 3-4 teams are about a score or so apart from each other imho.
  8. I get, to an point, that you’ve had a lot of people out and are limited on personnel to run your full playbook. But you can’t keep running the QB 80% of the time and expect to get positive results.
  9. I’m just hoping the Jackets open the play book up a little more this game…..
  10. I’ll be happy if we just win tonight. I’m thinking that the same players that were out last week will be out again plus a few more. That being said, we had several underclassmen step up and contribute last week. Hoping for more of the same tonight. Whatever the case may be, the Brothers Wilson will have them prepared and ready to play to the best of their abilities.
  11. I thought #22 for NE was one of, if not the, best player on the field. NE is loaded with talent, but you can tell they aren’t coached very well other than to let their individual talent do the work. If they would’ve gotten 22 the ball more in space it would’ve been a lot tougher game. Was very impressed with his foot work and speed
  12. I would like to see Springfield open up the playbook a little more this week, especially on the passing side of things. The QB is great at power running but he’s got to build confidence in that cannon of an arm he’s got. The passing game will be key in big match ups down the road, not overlooking NE at all, it just has to start now. I think it will be closer to like a 3 score game in the Jackets favor with NE able to match athlete for athlete.
  13. 100% agreed! I’m glad the yellow jackets have won the first two games in the fashion that they have, but the competition is hugely different between Springfield’s wins and Henry County’s losses. No way it will be easy
  14. Hot darn how about a power running qb! And he’s got a cannon for a right arm
  15. Closer than last week, but not close. Springfield rolls
  16. I agree with you 100% on greenbrier, they’re just not that good, but they could be. This years greenbrier team is probably one of the more physically impressive teams they’ve had in a while and have some tools to work with, they just need a different coaching staff. That’s my honest opinion ever since they hired him. He’s a good guy, but that always doesn't transfer to being a good coach. Greenbrier will not compete in the region they’re in this year. Pearl, Tullahoma, Marshall county and Creekwood will come out of that region in the playoffs. Any way I’m done with this one and on to the next game.
  17. Yeah and they won 14-0…..to be honest it’s probably the only game the Red Devils will win this season
  18. Ha they did beat a pretty bad Harpeth team in the jamboree tho
  19. I thought all week it was going to be this bad. Look you don’t go from being a team that’s not very good at all the previous year and come out and beat a team that’s loaded with returning talent the next year. Just doesn’t happen in any sport, except fairy tales. On a different note it was awesome to see a huge crowd again for a change. heckuva lot better than the covid year.
  20. Just what I figured…..not even close. Greenbrier’s offense is not very good at all
  21. Congratulations to these young men for garnering attention at the next level from their hard work. Last time I checked football was played with 22, not 2 though. I’d say any football coach worth his salt would isolate these two and play away from them. What’s the supporting cast look like…..the other 9 on the field are more important than these 2.
  22. I’m going to draw some fire for this probably, but it’s my honest opinion. I don’t really care for this game for the Jackets when it’s an out of region contest. I get it’s a “rivalry” being the next town over and it brings a nice gate and yes the gate is important in today’s world of finance in athletics. From a competition point of view though it’s usually not that beneficial for Springfield, maybe 1 out of every 5 years the Bobcats can hang around. I’d much rather see us go back to playing Father Ryan or one of the other Nashville privates for our opener. They’d be a decent gate and even better competition on a consistent bases and that pays now and down the playoff road…..
