I don't know much about the buffaloes but we took a whoopin down there last year.  Did they lose a lot of seniors?  We'll have to clean it up some this week.

They lost 6 seniors from last year and majority of them were big contributors. They have 8 seniors this year. They’re not bad but nothing special. Their score with NG is misleading, the game was much closer. NG held them to 100 yards of offense through three quarters but turned the ball over twice on their own 10 with one being a pick six. Their skill guys are their strong suit. I think the Landers should be in the ball game and could pull out a win.

Reitzfan, I don’t think they’d ever do that since radio broadcasters are allowed from Kingsport and Elizabethton.

Rodgerdodger,  you could be right, but it makes no sense. Both of those games will be standing room only, whether it’s on tv or not. Also, if Greeneville was doing this only because of the gate, why would they agree to be the game of the week on WCYB for the same game? I know that they’ve allowed WCYB to broadcast the home Elizabethton game  before.

No clue, that’s just what I heard around Greeneville. Figured they’d use nfhs because they give some money to the school based on subscriptions. I’m sure some elderly folk and parents with kids would love to be able to catch all their games.

The school is loaded with good coaches.  I've gotten to know James Buchanan a little and I respect him a ton.  If tilson is as good as advertised we may be challenged for that R1 championship

Good point. For a small school they sure do have quality coaches in just about every sport. If they don’t challenge this year then they definitely should next year with only 3 seniors.

Is there any North Greene or West Greene fans on here?   Not sure if this topic will get any traction, but we'll see.

Normally, I would pick WG in this game. However, I am leaning NG in this. I like what I've seen from Coach Tilson, and the Huskies seem to have more confidence than they had in a long time.  A win would go a long way in helping to build even more confidence.

    Have a good week!

Should be competitive. NG is still relatively young with 4 sophomores and a junior up front and several young skills kids. Talent is there so should be a good game

I believe this will be the year, season, coach that will break the current losing streak of the Chiefs. Will it happen vs Sweetwater? Let's hope so. What say you gentlemen? Any takers on the Chiefs? I know Mcminn Central handled the Chiefs pretty good in the Jamboree 13-0 and I believe Sweetwater beat McMinn County's JV squad 7-3. Lets Hope for a good game. Any score predictions?

Not sure if it will be this week but I definitely think they find a win somewhere this year.

Why use a 4-3 defense instead of a 3-4? Is it based on personnel? Does it depend on the type of offense on the other side of the ball? Is it strictly a preferred scheme? What are the advantages to each? Does one require certain skill sets at particular positions? Let’s hear from the decades of experience on the T! Free my mind!!

Typically personnel. 4-3 if you have more DL type and 3-4 if you have more linebackers. I know it sounds simplistic but that’s usually what people base it off of.

    Agree

Watched them in some 7on7. In my opinion it’s probably the best they’ve looked in a very long time. Yeah it just 7on7, and will it transition to a legit game? They’re still heavily young but they have some athletes. The Vaught kid is the real deal and I could see him having a great season.  I’d like to see them have a great season. It’s been a very long time since they’ve had a really good/successful season in football. It would be good for their kids, and their school/community. We’ll see how they stack up in a couple of weeks in their 1st game against in county rivalry West Greene.

We shall see. I heard They played Sullivan east really close yesterday. Could be an exciting season

Cumberland Gap was really bad. Looked like a middle school team. Worst high school team I’ve ever seen. If they win 1 game I will be shocked.

Jellico was big but slow and soft. Very slow developing plays on offense. No passing game at all.  Big line that was extremely slow and not aggressive at all. On defense very poorly coached. Had no idea in secondary what their responsibilities were. I could see them going 0-10 again this year. Definitely had more talent than CG but they have no coaching.

Oneida looked like a powerhouse compared to these teams. Couldn’t really establish a good running attack but had wide open guys all night passing. QB hit some and missed a couple but overall they moved the ball well passing. I think they scored 3 or 4 TDs total in the varsity portion. Defensively looked pretty good but hard to tell cause both offenses they faced were really bad. Not sure you can really take anything from this scrimmage, like Spike said yesterday. Both GC and Jellico are much worse than any team on Oneida’s schedule.

In the past Jellico has been big and dumpy like can’t move. I’m assuming that’s what they look like now? I know that #8&#9 are supposed to be really good. Haven’t gotten to see them live yet

Oneida looked decent given the competition. Everyone I talked to said they looked better than the scrimmage at Tech but again you can’t base anything off the scrimmage tonight. 1st team D looked pretty good and didn’t give up a TD to either Jellico or CG. Offensively the offensive line is gonna be Oneidas downfall this year. They are not gonna line up and smash you for 4 qtrs. The passing game was ok not great a lot of rollouts and deep balls.  They have a few good young RBs that looked good tonight and will have to play a lot of snaps this year.

Jellico was better than CG in my opinion and honestly they looked like a good football team. They had some good skill guys and a big offensive line but they were slow and depth across the board this year will hurt them. They had a kid or 2 that would start on a few different teams around the area.

So Jellico was pretty competitive or just better than what you expected ?

When November rolls around IF we make the playoffs I bet a lot of people are gonna look back and say “Man that scrimmage against Jellico and CG really prepared Oneida for York and Hampton”.

Any news on how the scrimmages went?

Any word on how the Huskies will be this year?

Should be much improved. Have about 30 kids which is pretty good for them. Return almost everyone from last year where they had to start 7 freshman and three sophomores. They’re still going to be young but should have a much better season.

Well Oneida hosts Jellico Friday night for a scrimmage along with Cumberland Gap. This is not a knock on either team at all but Oneida has no business scrimmaging teams of that caliber. I just think Oneida should be scrimmaging somebody to make them better and I just don’t see that happening with this scrimmage.

Agreed. Haven’t heard or seen much on Cumberland gap recently. Would like some updates later this week if you don’t mind.

Love to hear them, I am taking the Unaka Rangers to win it this year.

Unaka lost everyone and that includes their best returner who got hurt this summer in 7 on 7. They’ll be decent up front but have to replace a ton of experience and skill players.

Jellico will be alright given they got some help from the Kentucky transfer portal.

Cloudland is a question mark. Just have to wait and see with them. I’ve heard numbers are low but they only play 11-12 anyways.

hancock is returning this year but I still see them a year or two behind having not playing a normal varsity schedule.

cosby has a lot of kids out and some decent skill guys. If they can get any type of OL , QB play they could be alright.

North Greene returns everyone and has added some nice pieces. They have a good running back and return their QB top wr, TE and entire OL so maybe they can get it together as well.

it feels more wide open than normal but Cloudland is still the king until proven otherwise

Guys, I heard that Jellico only has about 15 players so I went to watch them practice the other night, I never did count how many they had but they had to run their offense against the wind because they didnt have enough to play defense. It's none of my business, but this is setting these kids up for injury. Jellico never could get numbers and have a great coach in Mr Peel, but if hes smart he will get outta there. That place is a black hole. I miss the great Jellico teams of the late 90's. This is in no way a negative post, but do you think they could drop down to jv or just drop football for a couple years and just rebuild?

I watched them scrimmage Scott Friday and they had at least 20 players. Probably more honestly

They aren’t beating UH when it is 5 versus 1. Don’t have enough support to help Britton. Unless the exchange program can provide about 3 players.

Well they return everyone from last year minus one senior who didn't do anything and they picked up a really athletic kid that didn't play his freshman year. They are getting a really good foreign also. They went 2-1 against UH last year playing "5 versus 1" so I think they will be okay.

Hello! Not a bot or spam situation, getting a project going finding the best places to catch games in Tennessee with the small schools.

Reasons why, traditions, food, pictures, can be today or in the past, any details would be great, thanks. -OA

Hampton is always a good time especially if you go when the leaves are changing. Great atmosphere and friendly people.
