  1. Maybe if Lamar had put his subs in earlier the Cumberland coach would of done the same. Who leaves their starters in and continues to full court press vs the other teams freshmen? You can spin it anyway you want but that's a lack of character!
  2. Cumberland led Clarkrange 50-10 mid 3rd qrt. before they turned it over to their freshmen on the bench. Lamar on the other hand left his starters in and full court pressed the remainder of the game. Classless move from one of the winningest coaches in tenn girls basketball.
  3. It's KARMA for Miller and her lack of respect for the game and the opponent. She has no one to blame but her lack of game management for that lose. In game adjustments especially in the last 2 minutes will make or break you every time. Congrats to Dekalb for taking advantage of the situation. She will have to change her agenda since operation 3000 came up short.
  4. Cumberland County only plays one style. That style involves pressing no matter the opponent or the game situation. CC will not win against a team that handles the pressure. Don't look for the coach to make adjustments during the game. CC run is about to be over with. The lack of development of underclassman will come full circle in the region and next year for sure. Don't take Dekalb lightly. I know Upperman will have a game plan for CC if they meet.
  5. The post referred to DISTRICT teams! Another poster commented on how high the level of competition was for Cumberland. Go do a little research on the combined records and strength of schedule of the DISTRICT teams that CC plays. If you weren't such a CC homer you might realize that the level of DISTRICT competition is not on the same level as 8AA or your former 6AAA. There is no way that your DISTRICT schedule is getting you ready for a possible game with Macon or Upperman in the region. CC will not be able to speed up Macon or Upperman.
  6. That AA district Cumberland County plays in is a real high level of competition.LOL. Most of those games are over after the first quarter.
  7. CCHS golf team just had 2 seniors sign golf scholarship for next year. They had one sign last year and they currently have 1 other former Jet playing college golf. Sounds like a positive culture to me!
  8. If the game is officiated poorly then a good team will adjust the way they play. You have to change your game plan and change how you play. Cumberland didn't. Whether you like it or not the refs were consistent the whole game. Cumberland rolled the dice and got burnt. As far as questioning the coach at Stone i believe his overall body of work speaks for itself. There is no doubt that he is respected in the coaching ranks. I'm pretty sure thats not the case with the Cumberland coach. I mean how can you respect a leader of young people who consistently runs the score up on weaker opponents and makes sure certain players pad their stats. Those actions gain NO RESPECT in the coaching fraternity! The great Pat Summitt said to always RESPECT yourself and others. Guess the Cumberland coach doesn't buy into that philosophy.
  9. The better coached TEAM won last night. Anyone who objectively watched that game was not surprised with the foul count. A foul is a defensive mistake. Reaching, grabbing, etc. are fouls. Having the awareness to adjust starts with the coach. Cumberland has played that style of "bully ball" for a while. Help from the bench is not as strong this year. It's very clear that the underclassmen are not developing. It shows no class when the coach makes comments about the number of fouls being called on her team on the radio. Win of lose show some class!
  10. Last time i checked the refs are 0-0 and not ranked. If you have watched Upperman more than once this season you have not seen Levy in blowout games padding her stats. The bench has improved over the season due to the fact they have played a lot. Why? Coach McWilliams understands what's important and is a class act! She is well respected by the coaching fraternity. BTW, how many triple doubles has #32 from Cumberland had this year? Upperman has 2 players averaging double figures. How many for Cumberland? York was senior night. Typically the coach will leave the SENIORS in longer. Levy finished with 45 and probably could of scored more. She has earned the right to play one last complete game at home no matter what the score is. It's only a pattern if it consistently happens. 7AA may be the weakest district in the state. Everyone who has seen Cumberland play more than once knows what the agenda is. Let me hear you justify why you would put your best player back in the game when your up 79 to 29?
  11. Doesn't surprise me that those bias Cumberland County fans are crying about the refs. They seem to think that they should be able grab and push on defense and call it pressure. How dare those refs from another association call a foul a foul. CC only knows how to play one style and if the refs let them do it, they are tough to beat. There best player can really score the ball but you can take a charge when she drives the lane. Why was she in the game early in the 4th with 4 fouls? Where were those other D1 guards at? When you play in a district as weak as 7AA it's not hard to hide individual and team weaknesses. Playing weak teams should give you bench a chance to get stronger but not if your intention is to play your starters to pad their stats when your up 30 plus. Clarkrange and Central are the only teams that have tested CC since December. Central may have exposed a few weakness. Adjusting your playing style to the way the refs are calling the game will be a big key in region play. TSSAA determines which association will call a region. Bad refs are apart of it but Blaming the refs is just bush league!
  12. In the last 30 years there have been a number of players on the top teams in the Upper Cumberland region that have averaged 20-25 ppg. Could they have averaged 30 a game? In some cases i believe there have been a handful that could of IF it had been important to the coach. Great coaches respect the game! What message are you sending when it's 84-36 and your best player is still in the game with 6 minutes to go in the 4th? Does the score of the game matter or is it the players point total? What can a coach be thinking ? If your best player is in the game when you are leading by 25 or more then the leader of the team has an agenda. Humility and sportsmanship should be a given. Show some class! Respect the game and your opponent.
  13. Really..so your going to play the ref card. Looked like to me CCHS was a step slow tonight. If your going to play that aggressive defense then your going to foul. Especially when you reach and body that much. Thats the way the game was called. CCHS didn't make any adjustments. Live or die with a press and the 3 ball. No way they can press Upperman for a whole game.
  14. I have seen CCHS play. Matter of fact i just witnessed them get beat very soundly by SMHS. Where were those proven scores for CCHS when they needed them? I also didn't see those 8-9 CCHS players that supposedly would start for SMSH. It's hard to win against a quality team when your not at full strength. I really thought CCHS would adjust there game plan but it didn't look like it.
