  1. A member of which fan base started this thread ? I expected it to be created, and I wasn't disappointed. It's easy to sit behind a keyboard and ramble half-truths, give coaching advise, blah, blah, blah. It was a great, hard-fought game to the very end. Both teams played "physical"; but for whatever reason for the most part the fouls away from the basket were called on CCHS, while the beatings under the basket were not called on Stone. It was obvious that the one official liked to blow his whistle and make those calls. Feb 5 can't come soon enough! Carry on, the whole state is laughing at you!
  2. Agree on the great game. The lady Jets just couldn't shut the door. Kudos to Bradley's unsung players, as they really stepped up making big plays! I hate to mention the refs, but wow! At least it was bad for both teams, so I guess it wasn't really a factor.
  3. Just as I expected, the TFP nor Chattanoogan made any such statement. So, the TFP gives Taylor's name (which we all knew), the Chattanoogan states "cold-cocked by a flying elbow" (which we all knew from the result), but then the Cleveland paper states "flagrant foul after a rebound". You didn't mention the Cleveland paper in your original post (which just so happens is the only one of the three articles to make the leap to flagrant foul, even though its very next sentence states that there was no whistle). How can you have a flagrant foul without any foul being called? You used the OPINION of the Cleveland writer to make the accusation that Taylor maliciously threw the elbow, and tried to use the links to the other two to support your claim. Your conclusion is false, and an apology is in order!
  4. Can you post a link to those stories Eric? I would like to read them myself. I have searched the stories I can find, and neither mentions flagrant nor malicious. While everyone wishes the consequences to Miss Smith had been different, I can assure you that it was unintentional, and will not let Taylor's name be drug through the mud.
  5. Maybe the previous coach left him the game films from prior years !
  6. Cumberland County position has been filled!
  7. Don't remember exact score, but Walker Valley won by one in overtime.
  8. The TSSAA reneged on the earlier approval they gave to start the girls' games on Thursday, and moved them back to Friday. So, the boys' first round games will be Saturday, which will put the girls' second round games being played on Monday.
  9. I thought you knew everything! They most likely will be moved back to Friday, unless TSSAA changes its mind again, today.
  10. But didn't WV beat Cleveland twice in the regular season ? All four top seeds should advance. From there, I think 6AAA will probably be the underdogs, but would not be surprised if either of them are in the finals or even win it.

    7AAA

Congrats to Blackman and Cookeville on their wins last night. I was surprised at the score of the WV-Blackman game, and kind of figured something must have happened to WV. Then I read the story in the Cattanooga paper this morning and saw that fouls did play a big role in the game. http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2009/ma...mustangs-69-59/ On the Cookeville-Cumberland Cty game, we gave it our best shot, but as was predicted, we had no answer for Miss Helton. She is special, and I believe Cookeville will really miss her next year. When we had cut it to a 3 pt game, with Helton on the bench in the 2nd qtr with her 2nd foul, and could not get off of 13 on the scoreboard, I knew we were in trouble. We could not take advantage of her being out of the game. I don't know how many shots rimmed out. I credit Cookeville's "D" for solid play. We're looking forward to joining the new district next year. While we lose our two seniors, who we will miss greatly, we played a lot of the game with three freshman in the game at once, so hopefully we should be able to hold our own. Good luck to Cookeville and Blackman next week!

/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> OK, I'll bite. Why wouldn't CCHS fans know how to get to Cookeville's gym? Trust me, we'll be there. On paper, Cookeville has the better team, but they don't play the game on paper, do they? Ask Cleveland, who beat Walker Valley twice during the regular season, how CCHS beat them TWICE in a week and a half on THEIR home court. If Cookeville's coach is smart, which I am sure she is, she has already contacted Cleveland's coach. We had no answer for Walker Valley. They exploited our weaknesses like no other team this year, outside of Clarkrange. I'm sure you are aware that Cookeville & CCHS played twice this year, and Cookeville won by 6 and by 9. Those aren't hardly a "have no answer for them" type of games, are they? Were you even at either of those games? Our girls aren't use to being on this stage, so we have no idea how they will respond; but I promise they will play hard, and if the shots are falling, we might pull the shocker.
  13. All games are 7:00 local time, so that would be correct. This station is broadcasting, and they do stream, so I would expect it to be available. http://www.mymix1041.com/
  14. 5' 10" - 6' 0" maybe. Not overly big, but big enough. They can score, but will also look to kick it outside. Very hard to defend!
  15. WV is the only team I have seen this year who I thought could hang with Clarkrange. They are complete. They do love to shoot the three, but have nice post play as well, and their guards are great at penetrating and dishing. They are also the best passing team I have seen, and play a very stingy in-your-face defense.
  16. Add: Cumberland Co. over Cleveland

    ACL tears

On the surface, that would appear to be sound advice. However, Cait McMahan had to end her career because of multiple surgeries, etc., and then Vickie Baugh tore her ACL a second time this year. So, obviously, each injury/surgery/rehab is independent of everyone elses, and there are so many variables involved with each. I guarantee everyone of these girls would give up a LOT to be back in three months, but that just isn't possible without the risk of further injury.
  18. Congrats ladies! What an effort! What a roller coaster three days. To go from almost losing on Thursday to pulling the W and getting to the championship game is almost unbelievable. What a great win for the two seniors, and a great way to say goodbye to 5AAA, by beating the Lady Raiders on their home court, who has been at the pinnacle of the district for many years. According to the Cleveland paper, it has been since 2001 since CCHS has won in the dome. To put that in perspective, the seniors were probably 9 or 10 at the time. Let's play like that on Tuesday, and keep it rolling for the home game on Friday! http://www.clevelandbanner.com/index.cfm?e...7D1CC8FE015365E

    ACL tears

The season has been VERY hard on her, especially in close losses where she feels she could have made a difference. Being restricted to a cheerleader on the bench is killing her. However, she has become more vocal with the team, and kind of assisting coaching by giving instructions to the post players. So, in the long run, that could actually be a positive for her, because she normally wasn't one to talk much. Since that is all she can do now, she's doing it 110% /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> . Is your daughter attending practices, etc., and staying in contact with the team? That seems to help my daughter some. Prayers for the healing of the scar tissue without further surgery. Lilc3, I've been wondering about your possible infection. Glad that wasn't the case. Worden55, that is encouraging news. Thanks for posting it, and I admire your daughter for going through it twice, and still wanting to play her senior season. It would have been VERY easy to hang it up after the second one and not have to worry about re-injury. I am curious as to whether it was the same knee or both knees? I can't imagine the feeling of seeing my daughter go down a second time. A dad can only take so much.

    ACL tears

Yes, yesterday was her 16th birthday. She said that you had sent her a text. Thanks for keeping in touch with her. She went for another checkup today, and the doc was very pleased with her progress. He backed her therapy to once a week from twice a week. He did instill in her the importance of restraint in her physical activities, which I think she will adhere (why is it that teenagers have to hear it from someone else before they will believe something you say /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> ? ) ! Concerning your situation, if your PT is concerned, I would either check with your surgeon or see a family doctor, etc., and have it looked at. Don't want to put that off too long. Unakamom, sorry for your admittance to the "club". Seems that this is pretty prevalent across the state. Best of luck to your daughter's recovery.

    ACL tears

Hang in there, you're almost past the worst part of the rehab, at least is was with my daughter. We are four weeks post-surgery, and her rehab is going great. She has ditched her crutches and the brace is gone also. She has little pain/stiffness and is having a hard time wondering why she can't play. She's naive. Keep us updated with your progress, please!

    ACL tears

Actually, it was me a dad, but it's hard to tell on here sometimes. This is a situation I wish on no other parent. I am thankful that my daughter is a sophomore, and should be ready to go next year. However, our program has been down the past few years, and this year has definitely been an improvement. We know that there have been a few close losses this year where our daughter might have made enough of an impact to get the "W", thus truly making this a season to remember. That eats at us a little. My daughter had her surgery two weeks ago on Thursday, and started rehab the following Tuesday. Very intense is the only way I know to describe it. She has now had four sessions, and returns to the doc today for a progress report and removal of stitches. Her pain is easing a little.

    ACL tears

My daughter had her surgery yesterday. The doc did the patella tendon graft. We actually sat and talked with him prior to surgery about which option would be best. Thankfully, he listened to our concerns about it, and then presented his rationale for that procedure. He convinced us. Those who have had the injury and have gone through the rehab to be able to play again have my utmost respect. To the parents of players, relish every moment your child is on the court, because you never know when an awkward landing or twist can bring it all crashing down and her season or playing career could be done in a flash. It's not the same going to the gym knowing she can't play!
  24. Can someone tell me the circumstances surrounding the death of the 11 yr old that the cheerleaders were taking up money for the family? I didn't catch what the announcer had said. Thanks, and if it shouldn't be posted, then please don't. I was just curious. My heart goes out to them.
  25. CC got Buffaloe'd. Too much of an inside game. How many seniors does CR have?
