  1. Class A: region 6 McKenzie Loretto and Summertown is a bit ahead of the lady rebels. McKenzie's press will suffocate teams but Summertown and Loretto are 3 point shooting teams, and will be able to counter their pressure by hitting the long ball. Region 7 I think GC and Union City are the favorites. Peabody is close behind with Greenfield being the fourth best team. Greenfield struggled against Union City's pressure and no one can match up with Bonds and Williams in the half court. Peabody defense keeps them competitive against any opponent in the state. The key is keep Peabody in a half court game, prevent run outs, and double team CeCe Johnson when she gets the ball. Union City is the most athletic team in single A in West TN, Head to head with Gibson County I think the Lady tornados are the favorites
  2. Administration made us pull out of playing . So dumb. They didnt want us to miss any upcoming district games. Wish we could have played.
  3. I couldn't believe the score when I saw it but how did Peabody beat Arlington? Single A beating a AAA state tournament contender is huge for their program. Peabody has Westview tomorrow and I think that will be a fun one to watch. It will be live on the Westview High School Facebook page.
  4. lost to west carroll by 10 tonight. Not a bad loss.
  5. Our press and defensive pressure kind of reminds me of Greenfield's press. We have quick guards like Chloe Moore and Mikayla Peterson and an athletic forward like Tess Darby. We use that press to our advantage which causes turnovers and easy baskets. Loretto always struggled with Greenfields press. In the half court game we dont match up well with Loretto they have size in the inside and our post is foul prone. Think we can contain Weathers to long threes. Against GC Micah Hart and your guards didnt get much penetration in the paint and that led to 3's or giving it to Madison on the inside. If our defensive plays like it did on Tuesday then that gives us a chance against anyone in class A.
  6. Yes we did a great job defensively on wagner. Alford and Olivia Jones killed us in the first half with threes but we were able to counter in the second half with threes of our own. Really impressed with effort on both ends of the floor tonight. Savannah had a nice bounce back game after shooting poorly in the GC game. Great win before Christmas for our ball club. USJ is a talented team and they should be in the mix for the D2-1a title.
  7. Yes I would love to see that game on friday... I feel like it will be a fun matchup. McKenzie's win puts them in the drivers seat for the district. Hope GC bounces they are a great team. Here's a question for you and anybody else.... Do you think that McKenzie can steal a win in the Region over Summertown or Loretto?
  8. McKenzie schools is forced to be open enrollment because our town is in 3 counties (Henry, Weakley, Carroll). We have benefited from this some. For example, athletes from Henry County have come to play basketball and football, and they have helped us greatly. It keeps our enrollment numbers up and the students excell in the classroom. There have been very little issues in the past with McKenzie kids not getting to play. But it does feel good about when Huntingdon fans complain that we have kids from Henry county playing for us
  9. Wow is all I have to say tonight.... That was a huge win for our program our school system and the whole town of McKenzie. That is arguably the biggest win since beating state ranked Stewart County in 2018. The past few years have been tough to watch for us Rebel fans, and my ranting of the coaching and play over the last couple of years is well documented on this site. But, tonight our team got the feeling that we can play and BEAT anyone in Class A. Lilly Bennett was amazing tonight on both ends of the floor, and to cap it off she scored her 1000th point! Savannah didnt shoot well but she made some plays defensively that helped us score. Katie Chesser off the bench knocked down 4 or 5 threes that shifted the momentum to our side in the 3rd. Hats to Gibson county as well, they played a great game and Madison Hart is basically unstoppable. Again Congrats to the lady rebels! Rebel Nation is very happy!
  10. McKenzie takes its first loss tonight against Dyer County 54 to 50. Savannah Davis played well despite being double and nearly tripled teamed all night. We rebounded the ball and crashed the offensive glass better than previous games. Had a chance to win at the end but Davis just couldnt get the layup to go. Great game for both teams tonight... Dyer County has a really good ball club.
  11. Who starts for the Jackets? Who guarded Madison? I know Biggs plays undersized in the post but she is a tough cookie.
  12. McKenzie isnt all that good. Please.... lost by 8 to USJ who is playing for a state title in two weeks and lost to Peabody twice by a combined 21 points. Now if we weren't good do you think we can play two quality opponents close for a whole game?
  13. bought my ticket today! This should be a great matchup. Ready to see Milan's new facilities.
  14. McKenzie picks up a hard fought win over Dresden 61 to 35. Dresden is a young team but they are still very scrappy. Lady Rebs shot very well from the foul line and killed Dresden on the offensive glass. Great win before the thanksgiving holiday.
  15. We played better Saturday. Not as bad with the foul trouble problem but the games weren't really against quality competition . Henry County is down this year and South Fulton is not the best. We have Milan on Monday and then Dresden on Tuesday. Dresden should be a great game on Tuesday really looking forward to that one.
  16. This score kind of shocked me. I knew South side was good but figured DBurg would have played them better.
  17. Yes very thankful for great middle and high school programs here in McKenzie and Htown.
  18. You 100% right we have a coach! I might have to go see Creekwood play.Love me some 3 point shooing teams. I do remember Coach Shelby from Dresden, has more energy and fire than I ever will have. Great coach! We have a bit of a better schedule this year adding yall Greenfield and Dyer Co. to the schedule. We will be battletested for sure!
  19. Milan is not very good at all. They used to be a solid team and its sad on how rapid they have regressed. I listened to that game some and it sounded like that have a very physical group. The Johnson kid for yall is a great player and I am excited to watch her again. Peabody will finish second in 14a behind GC. Region maybe a struggle with an impressive Greenfield win tonight and a very athletic Union City ball club. You can never count out Bradford, Gleason, and Dresden as well.
  20. Yea Westview would like to think that... but they wont even schedule Greenfield to play them.
  21. 56- 54 McKenzie won. It was tied at 54 with 2 seconds left. We scored with like 10 seconds left to win.
  22. Is Creekwood in the same region with Camden? I know they are AA but just cant think who they are with. Glad Greenfield is continuing with Willie's pressure defense. That is a huge win for them. Savannah Davis had 25 at the half for us. Our two fabulous freshman (Hart and Davis) had two good games I see.
  23. Dresden's fan base is the worst! They are so rude and complain about everything that the refs call. Girls basketball is no holds barred( their fans are the worst here)... because that's the only thing Dresden is consistent winning in.
  24. McKenzie will be fine. Our post player fouled in the 3rd quarter so she will definitely need to work on that. McKenzie score was reported wrong on here. Edie darby must be taking over for Greenfield.
