  1. Including the Covid year, we have had excellent seasons four out of the past five seasons including this one. Try to devalue us all you want but you can’t take away us making it to and playing in the past two 5A state championship games. Now, I don’t know the odds but there may be a chance to reclaim the paper champion’s title Friday. Good luck!
  2. Still a paper tiger. Hohenwald made it to the third round last year for the first time in a decade and, only the second time in the past two decades. What was different with the program last season?
  3. Have to figure out just how good MTP is and to an extent Loretto. Either R5 is the toughest ever or everyone is bad and everyone’s out of region schedule is terrible.
  4. Give credit where credit is due. Nothing about last year was traditional, including offensive scheme and coaching. If it had been, Hohenwald would have been out after the second round game, as traditionally usual.
  5. What Milan stuff? Are you referring to the paper tigers moniker?
  6. I’m getting E-cred. Next thing you know is that I will be on the level of @tradertwo!
  7. Last year was an anomaly, for sure. I wonder if they go back to tradition and exit after round two. Wonder if they even make it to round two. According to some on here, R6 is so advanced, they can put all of the R5 teams out in the first round.
  8. Not only do I understand this post but can very much relate to it!
  9. For some, I think, the demand lies with a good W/L season record and a regional championship. Not much for successful runs in the playoffs, as an important measure for success. Then, there are some who bounce between classifications shying away from competition to try and find the easiest route through the playoffs.
  10. Loretto does deserve some credit, however. They are undefeated, so far and, have played teams with decent to good records. They took on and beat the powerhouse team from Hohenwald that is ALWAYS ranked in the top 10 in the state and ALWAYS makes the playoffs. Then, the traveled to and beat a program in Waverly that has much success over the years, especially in the playoffs. Maybe R6 is vastly better than R5. That will be made available beginning in two weeks but, to try to devalue a team that’s played what seems to be quality competition and remain undefeated is not cool. Especially if that team beat your team. If the beat MTP next week, lookout!
  11. How are those paper tigers of yours holding up over there?
  12. Since Loretto is “Back”, if they maintain this year’s dominance next year and Chapel Hill doesn’t improve to be what they were, will Loretto be kicked out of R5 and replaced with Chapel Hill? Pretty sure Riverside will not be placed in Hohenwalds region any time in the near future. May even note that even though they are fairly close distance wise and in the same region that they won’t be on the out of region regular season schedule either. Now, the big question is, does the new coach have the same T$$AA pull as the former?
  13. The paper champions from Hohenwald and the paper tigers from Milan. No wonder BPM was/is so defensive of Hohenwald! Lol
  14. One needs to look at tradition when deciphering this. With both Riverside and, to an extent, Chapel Hill not in Hohenwald’s region, that region was set up perfectly for the paper champions. However, who would have thought Loretto would run roughshod over that region? Also, we all know Hohenwald typically only plays one decent to good team a/each year and, is at best, 50/50 against them. Traditionally, if they face two good to decent teams in a given year (last year was an anomaly) they are never better than 50/50. They lost to undefeated Loretto and then slammed MTP. Therefore, if they are back to Hohenwald of old, Waverly should win this one. If they are back to the traditional Hohenwald, they’ll be bounced by the second round. So, until next Friday nights games are completed, we won’t know for sure. But, speculation is exciting.
  15. Is Hohenwald running the spread option or have they gone back to the wing T?
  16. First of all, *you’re, not your. Second, just stick to (your) paper tigers and worry about choosing the easiest classification for the next reclassification.
  17. I’m just curious, with all of the changes over the past couple of years at Hohenwald, does anyone think they will make it past the second round?
  18. Maybe. But, undefeated and not only did they beat down the perennial paper champions from Hohenwald but they evidently put it to Waverly last night. And, it’s not like Waverly has not had some success over the years. Yeah, well, football now, too. Might want to add in football, now. Well, you just might be wrong there, homie. Seems like I do elicit responses, just as yours.
  19. I told everyone weeks ago that Loretto is back! They’re beating everyone! Evidently, thst beat down of perennial Hohenwald was just the beginning! Now, I don’t know Loretto’s history (long term anyway) but I’m betting this year is even better than those Butch Toner years.
  20. This was an incredibly defensive game! I knew the LB’s were going to hold their own and, they did! Laid some good licks! I rank Centennial up there! Have a feeling a rematch may have a much different outcome!
  21. 14-0 the home team. Perfect night for football! Having some good luck but all good teams do!
  22. I’m not sure how much of a home field advantage this is going to be. It’s supposed to be close to 60 degrees but not wet. I think our running game is going to be strong. If Centennial loads the box inside, I look for quick hits over the middle or speed around the ends. We do have versatility at RB and a pretty good TE.
  23. Bump: If Waverly wins this Friday night and Lewis and MTP both win out, it is going to be interesting breaking this tie. I would venture to say that due to Loretto beating Hohenwald earlier in the season, Hohenwald’s ranking would be higher. Now, I haven’t looked at each teams opponents records to see which would get the nod (according to @Southtowner’s stated rules earlier). With two weeks still remaining, who has who in the 1-4 playoff slots? Then, looking at the other region, are there teams from the West that R5 would rather face (higher playoff placements vs lower playoff placements)?
  24. That week is here, now! Great football for Middle Tennessee!
