Big region game leading to what could be the defacto region title if the Patriots win and then beat Nolensville next week. If Centennial wins, they will most likely be regional champions. Our defense is stout and, for the most part, the reason for most of the wins, especially of late. Our LB core is some of the best in the state. The DL is good and our secondary is shut down. On offense, we move the ball very well and like the ground but, will put it in the air. We have two Jr’s that are plug and play and can bounce outside and take it the length of the field. Our Sr is the workhorse and does not mind putting his head down and sticking it up the middle! Don’t know a lot about Centennial but do know since they have moved back to 5A, they have been doing extremely well. Big time game Friday!!!

Both seem to be having a good to great year! Waverly has precedent of success in playoffs and big games. Loretto is undefeated on the year and, has already beaten powerhouse Hohenwald. The next two weeks of games in that region should be good!
-
Oh, I’m a patriot through and through. Looking forward to another run at the ‘ship. Hopefully, this will be three runs in a row and, in 5A at that!
-
In their defense, I don’t think they have had a football program very long, at all. Additionally, small town and, not really able to schedule (smaller) and (weaker) schools for OOC games.

Stated by a paper tiger!

Was one of those titles In football?
-
You just don’t learn do you? You should probably just give it up. You will never be able to confer what I say into what you want it to be. The above quoted post just ruined any credibility you needed related to that. Also, Just should just stick with your paper tigers over there in West Tennessee and try to figure out the easiest classification to jump to for the next realignment.

Yep, need that extra week of practice to prepare for a football game against a girls basketball school’s football team. Was it year before last when Summertown upset Hohenwald?
-
So, let me get this straight: I am so in your head that you have become single sourced in your obsession of me that you cannot see simple sarcasm with the "1000%" post? All that you have done is open up the knowledge that Milan is a classification dodger. So, I'm going to give you the moniker of Dodger. No wonder you are so defensive of Hohenwald. Where they dodge competition during the season, you guys completely change divisions! LOL This is crazy, but humorous. I'm wondering if this means Milan is "paper champions" too?
-
How can you be so proud of a school that dodges competition by jumping classifications?
-
My bad. I just don't know enough about West Tennessee football to understand who's who and who's dominant. Case in point; I just now (as of yesterday) realized what others have hinted to in that Milan transverses classification to dodge competition. After looking up their schedule history yesterday, I saw a lot of season ending games against Covington. Now I understand BPM's obsession with Hohenwald. Similar in that they seek out less competition when it's appropriate in differing classification. However, after looking at some of those schedules, I don't think West Tennessee gets enough credit for how competitive it is, across the board, in football! My guess is that is due to lack of information trickling here to Middle Tennessee.

May have been placed in the wrong thread but good summation none the less. Though I do not know much about the teams of R5 and R6, for the most part. However, looking over the years on CoachT's schedule records, it would seem that Huntingdon is dominant year in and year out. So, that leaves many questions; is Riverside as good as last year? Is Loretto a one hit wonder this year or was that win over Hohenwald just a fluke and they will come down to earth? They still have Waverly and MTP to finish the season. Was MTP just off when they were drummed by Hohenwald and, what about Waverly? They seem to have up and down years. Is this an up year for them? They were drummed by MTP and the only (quality) win they have is against Fairview and that doesn't say much. I say it comes down to another semifinal game between Riverside and Huntingdon.

1000%! BPM, you probably need to change your signature from bring the wood to Running for the Woods.

If those games were played this Friday night, every store, restaurant, online service and T.V. station would be closed!

It must really chap you that your team is ranked way down at seventh this week in little 2A ball while we are ranked higher than you in Big Boy 5A Football. Couple that 2A classification with the full public/private split and maybe, just maybe for y'all, there will be a new Covid variant that will allow for an easy path for y'all to be in the 'ship again. Funny thing is, going back to when you were in 4A, you only beat little ole' Huntingdon, which is 1A, three times over the past decade. Better stay in 2A. Can't get past Huntingdon in 1A nor Alcoa in 3A (if Covington is down and you make it that far) and everyone knows Milan dodges competition by trying to guess which classification is going to be easiest and jump in that one! Since you know you can't do it in 1A with Huntingdon and a few others (enrollment numbers mainly) and, Covington and Alcoa will keep you from winning the championship game in 3A, maybe y'all need to go back up to 4A.

I don't care who says what, this is just funny! Kuddos @Southtowner. Good post!

Is this not the most competitive this region has been in a very long time, if not ever? I did notice that neither Riverside nor Chapel Hill is in it, however. Out of curiosity, I looked up Waverly's schedule the other night going back a little over a decade and you guys have seem to have some success against very good schools. Seems like good playoff runs and, seems like you guys actually played and beat Pulaski when they were on their good runs. Takes experience at that level to do well come playoff time.

I see the good guys from down there in Hohenwald is still ranked in the Top 10. Maybe that momentum will carry them past the second round this year and they get a rematch with Loretto in the third. That would be a game to watch! If so and, if my Patriots are not playing in round three (as is the tradition of late) I may travel to watch that game. It would be a match up of district rivals from the good ole AA days! I'm just wondering however, if Hohenwald will still be around after the round two of the playoffs? They had a heck of a run last year with a new coach that brought in new football and it paid off!
-
I'm not as proficient as others pertaining to R6 and most of R5 either but, with Huntingdon doing what they have done over there, I would have to give them the nod. Last year was, of course, last year and, Riverside beat them in the playoffs after losing during the regular season so, who knows for sure how that region is going to pan out. R5 seems to still have a couple of games left at the end of the year to decide its placings. I haven't kept up with it for decades as some posters on here have but, I don't know if I ever remember seeing that region stacked with as many good teams as it has this year. Saying that, it may never be this stacked again. I just wonder if R5 will be so beat up come playoff time that the top three teams fold early, regardless of R6 teams? That would be a quantifiable question.

It is totally different. You ran down a single kid and was absolutely called out for it and put in your place. Kuddos for owning up to it but that has no relation to me. I have never singled out a single kid and for you to stretch something into that or equitable to that is not only a misnomer but just plain incorrect. There exists something called the silent majority and you, my friend, are not their leader.
-
I for one am glad to see them doing so well this year!
-
Briefly looking at some R5 W/L records, it looks like that region could be up grabs, potentially. Right now, Loretto is the leader but they still have to face Waverly (I think) and MTP. MTP was blown out by Hohenwald but seems to have played very well against all others, so far. Hohenwald still has a couple of tough games at years end so, they could potentially slide into the leader’s position. I doubt anyone would have thought R5 was going to be this formidable at the beginning of the year! Neither Riverside nor Chapel Hill are in it coupled with MTP not being very good as of late and who would have guessed Loretto was going to be on fire this year? Add in Waverly’s season thus far and R5 may be the strongest top to bottom. This all brings me to the question of out of region scheduling. It seems that the region championship for the past several years would come down to Hohenwald beating or losing to a mediocre Riverside team or a 5-5 Chapel Hill or a 1A Columbia Academy team. In years past when Riverside was just mediocre but not in the same region, they would still be on Hohenwald’s schedule. However, I’m willing to bet they will only be playoff foes now. Has anyone else noticed this? I will say this; if Hohenwald wins the region this year, they will dang well have earned it!
-
My money is it won’t be Loretto. There’s not much playoff data on Loretto, especially second round, but there is on Hohenwald. If I had to choose, who to play for a second round playoff game, I would choose to play Hohenwald. Loretto seems to be tearing it up this year!
-
I’m guessing you are trying to refer this to me but, as I’ve stated numerous times, never have I ever ran a kid down or been negative towards a kid. After getting called out and blasted in that Loretto thread for doing EXACTLY what you try to initiate that I do, I would have figured you would stop that nonsense by now. It is what it is but it’s not what you try to make it out to be. I will never do that. I think it’s important for teams to improve each week. Makes football even better towards the end of the season. Just seems that some teams are better or more competitive at the beginning of the season. I have seen several times where a team will beat another team towards the beginning of the season only to lose to the same team in the playoffs. Riverside comes to mind. Also, some teams seem to reach a plateau during the season and unfortunately, better teams seems to put them out of the playoffs in the early rounds. However, Hohenwald had a heck of a year last year and made it to the third round.
